Mission: Solid Ground builds community to end poverty. Our 27 programs work to create a just and caring community free from poverty, prejudice and neglect by: ~ Developing and providing creative, comprehensive and effective responses to our community’s needs; ~ Offering quality human services in a manner that promotes dignity; ~ Advocating for public policies and private initiatives that give all people equal opportunities and resources; and ~ Supporting the efforts of others who share our vision of community. We believe… ~ Our community has the resources, will and ability to end poverty. ~ All people have the right to food, shelter, social justice and opportunities. ~ Racism perpetuates poverty. To end poverty, we must undo racism. We believe that together, we can build a community free from poverty, prejudice and neglect in which all members stand on Solid Ground with the skills and confidence needed to achieve their dreams.

Geographic areas served: Most of our 27 programs serve King County, Washington; a few have larger service areas covering Western Washington or Washington State
Programs: Transportation: to provide specialized transportation to people living with disabilities or on low incomes to access community support services. In 2014, provided over 256,000 trips to clients to get to work or other life enriching activities.
stabilization services: to educate and empower people with tools to solve problems that jeopardize housing through housing advocacy, case management and limited financial support to help people find and/or maintain safe, permanent housing. In 2014, provided counseling, loans and grants to over 3,000 individuals, legal aid to over 300 individuals to obtain government benefits, over 2000 individuals utilized free voice mail to connect with work and community, and over 17,000 individuals were linked to essential resources through telephone referrals.
residential services: to provide service enriched housing, including emergency shelter and transitional and permanent housing and life skills, children's programs and financial assistance to residents. In 2014, provided over 89,000 bednights of shelter to about 5,000 individuals and families.
to provide a wide range of additional services to give people the skills to thrive. Food and nutrition services provided nourishing food and skill building to those who would otherwise go hungry. In 2014, distributed over 6 million pounds of food to area food banks, grew and distributed over 76,000 pounds of organic produce to food banks, meal programs and shelters. Advocacy mobilized over 13,000 people to participate in community building and anti-poverty initiatives and registered over 1,000 people to vote. National service programs generated over 243,000 hours committed to meet critical community needs.
