I had been working with Saint Vincent de Paul while I was East County Resource Navigator for the Homeless. I did not have a place to set up office due to COVID and the other Organization that I was currently working out of, had shut their doors to prevent the spread of the disease, and working remotely was their temporary plan.
SVdP was open to the idea of allowing me to use their facility, to perform my in-person interviews with my clients was important and needed.
They were kind enough to give me a key to the Resource Center with 2 days access for the office space to help out.
I didn't realize how many people the Center was serving until I was able to observe. When I couldn't help my clients with their specific needs, St Vincent de Paul stepped up with offerings of assistance.
Their collaboration with me, and my clients was outstanding. They are truly an asset to the Community, and the Homeless Community as well.
After working with the Conference and the volunteers, and seeing their potential for expansion for services, I'm proud to say I am a full-time employee at the "Monroe, St Vincent de Paul Community Resource Center". The first Resource Center in this area for St Vincent de Paul, and I am honored to be a part of its beginning stages of expansion.
