Results: During our 2009-2010 fiscal year, a record $707,000 paid to landlords kept families housed, $91,000 paid in utility aid kept families' lights and heat on, and $1.4 million of donated and purchased food was distributed.
In May 2011, we opened our fifth Thrift Store to serve the needs of the poor.
Target demographics: Working poor families and individuals, homeless and hungry, elderly, unemployed, adults and youth in jail, and victims of crime and their families in San Mateo County
Direct beneficiaries per year: 40,000+ San Mateo County residents, nearly half of whom are children
Geographic areas served: SVdP’s safety-net services extended throughout all areas of San Mateo County, which is as far north as Daly City, as far south as East Palo Alto, and down the coast to Pescadero.

• Paying $1 million in homelessness prevention to keep families housed

• Reaching out everyday to the homeless with clean clothing, basics like shampoo, haircuts,
laundry, telephone and mail service, and connections to shelter

• Providing $320,000 in free merchandise through store vouchers
• Helping families make ends meet by selling goods at minimal cost
