the organization awards scholarships and subsidies to attend the sssp annual meetings to students who exemplify the sssp history and are committed to scholar activism. One purpose of the scholarship is to increase the pool of minority social and behavioral scientists. The sssp granted money to two minority graduate students as well as funding four foreign scholars to attend the annual meeting with the lee scholar support fund. Sssp also funded three unemployed/underemployed sociologists to attend the annual meeting with the erwin o. Smigel award and awarded sixty-two undergraduate and graduate students to attend the annual meeting with the lee student support fund.
