Mission: The organization was established to advance scientific research on food and fluid intake and its associated biological, psychological and social processes. The society provides a multidisciplinary environment for the free exchange of ideas and information, and serves as a resource for scientific expertise and education on topics related to the study of ingestive behavior.
Programs: Sponsored annual convention attended by over 300 national and international experts and interested individuals from 20 countries. The annual convention was directly related to the organization's exempt purpose (study of ingestive behaviors). The 2017 convention was held in montreal quebec and included exhibits by various organizations of interest to the membership. There were over 200 oral and poster presentations covering items related to advancing scientific research on food and fluid intake and its associated biological, psychological and social processes.
sponsored various awards presented to individuals honoring contributions made to the understanding of ingestive behavior through research, creativity and/or career achievements. Also provided travel awards to allow postdoctoral fellows to attend the annual meeting. Awards based on the scientific merit as represented by a required abstract.
