Mission: To generate, disseminate, and apply social science knowledge to address the problems of society.
Programs: Production of educational materials based on sound scientific research. We publish three academic journals: journal of social issues; analysis of social issues and public policy; and social issues and public review; a book series, and an assortment of other text and trade books.
sponsorship of academic conferences, seminars, task forces and workshops. Our main biennial conference is a forum for presentation of new social issues research, attended by social scientists and graduate students from around the world. Smaller adademic research meetings, seminars, and workshops are conducted throughout the year, at which spssi members present their research and exchange scientific and educational information with other professionals about the implications of that research on issues of society.
providing small grants, awards, and fellowships. Our competitive small grants programs support a wide variety of research related to psychological and social issues that further the scientific and educational purposes of the society. Our awards programs confer honorary recognition to individual researchers for their achievements in the field of social psychology and social issues. Our internship and fellowship programs support training of qualified undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students in fields related to social psychology.
