Being a member for almost 4 years has opened me up to the power of helping NGOs and other community organizations be more efficient and impactful. Sometimes we forget that community orgs who go go go also need to slow down and invest in their own development and for me SVPSA has done an amazing job of creating training that helps all NGOs who seek it. Their involvement and sponsorship of Catchafire is an example of this, as is their constant support of past and present community orgs and members.
I joined SVPSA because I wanted to work with other community "do-gooders" to create programs that substantially improve our community's nonprofit ecosystem. I am proud to be a part of the creation of our nonprofit fellowship program and the establishment of Catchafire in San Antonio, which matches skills based volunteers with nonprofit projects. Everything that SVPSA does is measureable, providing a basis for learning and continuous improvement. The nonprofits that we have worked with are never-ending sources of learning for us as Partners, providing insights into the needs of our most vulnerable populations and challenging us to do more and do better.
If you enjoy contributing your talent as much or more than you enjoy contributing your treasure, Social Venture Partners San Antonio is a terrific organization to belong to. Your donated time and effort are hugely appreciated by the charities you help. The relationships you develop in the process are tremendously rewarding, and you get to see the fruits of your labor.
As a partner and board member, I a proud to stand with my fellow partners working to improve the working dynamics of nonprofit organizations in the greater San Antonio area. I see first hand what our work does to support and grow leaders and thus their organizations. I encourage others to join our partnership and nonprofit leaders to apply for our fellowship.
