Mission: SERI developed as a space where scholars from different institutions could come together and work on project-based research. SERI has no full time employees and very low operating expenses. We share a commitment to producing the highest quality empirical and theoretical scholarship on the interdisciplinary study on the interaction between society and the environment. Our research is intended to produce benefits for theory and for practice. For instance, our research has been used by the Environmental Protection Agency to improve the way watershed management initiatives involve the public. A major area of focus is to point out the shortcomings of cost benefit analysis and to promote public participation in public decision making.
Programs: This project will establish the first scientifically based annual survey tracking norwegians' attitudinal and behavioral responses to climate policy instruments, including social and cultural dimensions such as beliefs, values and norms.
seri is holding group meetings with stakeholders of the wellfleet's oystering industry with the purpose of helping their policy suggestions become included in the town's comprehensive plan. Seri is also continuing to inform the community about the likely impacts of climate change in the region.
