Mission: Founded in 1996, Smith Center for Healing and the Arts is a nonprofit health, education, and arts organization dedicated to providing support, knowledge, hope, and the deepest levels of healing to those affected by cancer. We are the only stand-alone cancer support organization serving the entire population of Washington DC. Our mission is to develop and promote healing practices that explore physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual resources that lead to life-affirming changes for people with illness and for the community at large. All of our programs focus on cultivating each person’s innate ability to heal, helping participants explore meaning and maintain hope – even in the face of life’s greatest challenges.
