I work in the counseling and social work field and love this unique way to volunteer with youth. My own career path has been developed through the help of others and this is my way of giving back. The benefit is that it is low time commitment but hugely rewarding and impactful. I get to have one on one communication with students and help realize their goals. Its wonderful! I hope every community embraces this type of support to our students.
Thank you Smart Futures for allowing me to participate in this e-mentoring program. I really appreciated the opportunity to volunteer from my computer and helping young people through a digital communication which is a unique way to make a positive impact. I found e-mentoring through my employer and been part of Smart Futures program for over 3 years now really enjoyed it.
I have used Smart Futures for 7 years and loved the program from day one. The high school special education students I work with love the Keys2Work program because they can research and watch videos on careers that interest them. It also gives them a boost of confidence when they take tests on their practical skills and see how they match up with different careers. Every school in Pennsylvania should use it!
I found e-mentoring through my employer. I have a MSN in education and can't find a teaching position, so I have turned to mentoring young people, by helping them discover what it is that they want to do when they grow up. Helping the youth of the country helps all of us in the long run. They come with many questions and hopefully leave the experience with a better understanding of the positions in life they are working toward. It makes me happy to be a part of that process for them.
I have been part of Smart Futures program for over five (5) years and have really enjoyed it. Helping young people through a digital format is a unique way to make a positive impact. Being able to provide career advice and help them better understand options at their age is wonderful. The young people I have engaged with over the years seem to leave the program more aware of professional options. Thank you Smart Futures for allowing me to participate in this program.
I've worked with over 15 mentees as a PA eMentoring volunteer over the last 6 years and it has been a rewarding, fun, and really quite convenient way to "give back" to my community. I've appreciated the opportunity to volunteer from my computer and iPad. The program has improved each year and Smart Futures has responded well to adapt the program to both technology and legislative changes that have occurred over those years.
