I have attended many Sister to Sister functions. They have all been very organized and well planned, I enjoyed them and learned many aspects of women's heLth. I recommend attending an event! I also find the staff extremely helpful and knowledBle.
There is nothing more important than encouraging women to take care of themselves and their health as they take care of so many. Sister to Sister encourages, supports and informs in ways that are unique and important. Keep it up!
Sister-to-Sister is a wonderful organization that is dedicated to helping woman across the country understand their risk of heart disease. So much attention is given to men's issues on television, that more exposure for the risk to women is much appreciated.
As a worker who helped set up Verizon Center and who worked the event for Sister to Sister health fairs, i witnessed the thousands of women who came in for testing over the many years of the Health Fair. It was obvious to me that by providing this screening for thousands of woman, the health of these people had to be helped by the selflessness of this charity. The charity itself and the people who participated helped many for this worthwhile cause.
After attending a Sister to Sister event, I can speak to the impact of the organization. As a young woman, I was woefully unaware of the danger of heart disease and the preventative steps that should be taken, and I believe that many of my peers are similarly unaware. Sister to Sister draws attention to an issue that receives far too little publicity, and it provides extremely important information, health behavior suggestions, and resources for women to improve their heart health. As women, we must continue to work to improve our care for our bodies and live our lives as healthily as possible; Sister to Sister is working to help us do just that.
Sister to Sister has helped educate many on the benefits of heart education. I hosted a Sister-to-Sister event, designed to spread the word to friends about heart disease, prevention thereof, and importance of heart knowledge. I am amazed at how many women do not take care of themselves, nor know the basic make-up of the heart. Sister-to-Sister is a phenomenal resource and more people need to be aware of their literature and on-line programs.
I had the privilege of working for this organization back in 2007. Before I was hired, I attended a heart health event at The Verizon Center. I have been aware for a very long time that many, many women are unaware of the risk factors for heart disease, and witnessing the day was remarkable. Sister to Sister helps women who otherwise might not get help. What a blessing.
I have been involved with Sister to Sister in a volunteer capacity and as a client served. The information and resources given to woman is extremely important. I have seen the organization from a behind the scenes perspective and love the dedication, mission and goals of the employees that works for Sister to Sister.
The woman that benefit from their dedication is invaluable to woman from all walks of life. I hope the health fairs continue to grow throughout the world as this is an amazing company for woman.
I was there at the beginning to witness the passion and determination of Irene Pollin as she created a vehicle, that would bring to the forefront, that heart disease is the number one killer of women. It is amazing to see the growth of Sister to Sister and how it has transformed and saved lives through grassroots programing. Built on the foundation - that everyone has a heart - the beauty of this organization is that it understands the dynamics that women face when dealing with health issues. It truly is a wonderful resource!
As a woman invested in my own health and fitness and that of my family, I enjoy the information being shared through the web. With al of the sites, blogs, etc out there it's helpful to have a central source through Social Media that allows me to read what I want, when I want. I also believe the issues Sister to Sister is advocating for and educating the public about are different than the standard eat well, excercise, get sleep and drink water to live a healthy life standard. Thanks for all you do.
As a nurse, as a woman, mother, sister and grandmother, I thank Sister to Sister for giving me the privilege of educating women about their own personal risk factors for heart disease and empowering them to change their behavior to stay heart healthy. I am also proud that as the 24th National President of Hadassah, I had the opportunity to get to know Irene Pollin. the great lady behind STS, and to have established a STS/Hadassah partnership which will allow outreach to women throughout the United States and around the world. If we have been fortunate enough to have been born with a healthy heart, together, we are going to do our utmost to keep them that way!
I have worked with the team at Sister to Sister Foundation for 15 years, in my role as President, Employee and Administrative Services at Washington Sports and Entertainment (WSE). Sister to Sister provided valuable information to and engaged WSE employees and family, players and their wives and the community to make a difference in women's heart health. STS hosted an annual health fair at WSE's Verizon Center with an overall attendance of over 10,000 individuals from the D.C. metro area. These health fairs, which were free to the public, included cholesterol and blood pressure screenings, cooking demonstrations, exercise clinics and impressive speakers. STS produced the Bike for the Heart event and VIVA Spin Day, both for which WSE fielded a team to raise funds for women's heart health education and awareness. Sister to Sister has truly made a difference and impact in so many women's and their families lives. I highly recommend this organization, and it's dedicated staff, as a Great Non-Profit organization.
For the many Mothers, sisters, aunties, grandmothers wives, and daughters, who are loved and will need this very valuable information, I sing the praises of Sister to Sister for their unwavering dedication to the health of the women, wherever she may be, regardless of her economic status, , age, or race, or language. You inspire me! Take a moment to share this site with someone, it just might save their life!
I have been working with Sister to Sister for approximately 6 months. It is a wonderful organization, lead by a group of strong, dedicated women committed to helping other women around the world. They are working hard to reach women from all walks of life, and do so effectively by using different communication channels and messages designed to resonate with women at different stages in their life. They have a great website and social media presence that I'm sure will continue to grow as more women hear their message.
I was privileged enough to work for Sister to Sister on and off for about 2 years. These women are so dedicated to their cause and truly believe in the message they are spreading. I have also worked numerous events on behalf of Sister to Sister and one of the greatest pleasures is to interact with women (and men) who have been affected directly or indirectly by heart disease. Their willingness to share such personal stories is touching and fuels Sister to Sister to continue to reach beyond their network and make a difference. I think that one of Sister to Sister's biggest strengths is their website and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest) because they are able to engage people from all over the world and connect them.
