Single Mom Strong is an organization that is true to their mission. From arranging legal workshops to help women navigate family court, to putting together empowering Zoom sessions to help us get back into the job market; SMS is that extra set of hands single mothers need to be supported in this world. As a beneficiary of their services, I can tell you that I am incredibly grateful to them for investing in me, fueling my fire, and giving me hope again.
I am experiencing being a single mom all over again raising my youngest grandchild by myself. There were no local support group resources 30+ years ago when I was a single parent the first time around. I happened to catch an interview with the founder on Good Day Sacramento about a Valentines Day event for single moms and I signed up immediately. I was so impressed with the venue, inspirational guest speakers and with Tara Taylor the founder that I have been a huge supporter of this organization ever since. Although I am okay financially this time around, I know what it is like to struggle to make ends meet and I know what it’s like to feel that overwhelming feeling of going it alone. SMS makes it possible to be a part of a bigger community of moms willing to help one another in every situation. Everything from a mom broken down needing the closest mom with a AAA card to come and help to sharing a go-fund-me page to get the word out on moms in crisis. It checks all the boxes, health, retirement planning, a night out, affordable day care, life coaching, and the list goes on and on. I am honored to share my experience s with this profoundly life changing organization and give my five star rating to Tara and her staff who work tirelessly to help change the lives of single mothers and their children for the better. ❤️
Well, where do I start? Six years ago I was alone. I had two new babies, age 1 and 2 , just 10 months apart. I was 19. My mom had just died two years before. My mom was a single mom and I had just become a single mom after leaving a domestic violence relationship. That was 2014. A CPS case later and I wish Single Mom Strong existed for me then. Those are the stakes. Community matters. Since joining from a Facebook ad in 2018 at SMS’s public inception my life has drastically improved, and my daughter’s lives, too. SMS made me feel belonging and capability that I needed to accomplish parenting, career building, and healing . Tara is a fantastic leader! I am so inspired by the women in this community. There is so much strength and worth in this community.
A very inclusive group of people and welcoming to all. Easy process to join and become involved. Once involved everyone is made to feel welcome and cared about. The mission statement of helping single mothers and families be the best they can be is met with a passionate group of constituents who give the feeing of all working together towards the goal. To see this non-profit grow would only make it better and more helpful to all involved.
Single moms strong is a excellent organization for women and children. I’ve been with the organization for 2 years now and me and my daughter feel so comfortable interacting with other single moms with similar life experiences as myself. Joining this organization is like joining a positive sisterhood.
It started with a post on Facebook. Hoping for something good, but unsure what it was going to be about, I attended my first event and it has turned out to be the best thing I’ve done for myself in a long time. Single Mom Strong came into my life when I was at my lowest- needing connection, needing support. My daughters and I have made deep bonds and memories that we’ll cherish for a lifetime. I’m thankful to Tara for giving me pride in my motherhood. As a single mom I am strong, and encouraged through my sense of belonging to this community. The cause is so worthy and Tara gave us a voice. Thank you.
I highly recommend this group for new moms or mom going thru a Divorce. It gave me a wealth of knowledge and support home buying tips, meditation, workouts or just fun. It helped me gain confidence and new friends which was much needed. Tara is kind and compassionate and facilitates a non-judgmental conversation on topics relevant to moms. Tara does a great job of pulling in her knowledge and experience working with so many moms to help you to feel like you are not alone. The facilitated outings were exactly what I needed and I hope to attend MacYs event this month. I can't recommend this group enough. Now I feel like I have a solid group of mom friends that I can connect with whenever!
I found Single Mom Strong about 2 years ago. My first workshop was full of smart, kind women and more events continued. Events are well organized and fit the mission and always welcome new single moms.

I learned about Single Mom Strong from a friend I went to high school with. I have followed their posts and page for a while now. They always have amazing events for moms and their children, workshops at their EmpowerMe center, and they recently opened up a childcare facility for young and school aged children. My son and I recently went a zumbini class on a Sunday evening. My son enjoyed the class and I got the chance to bond with him. I also got the opportunity to meet other single moms. As I am getting more involved with this wonderful organization I am excited to meet other single moms and have my son meet other children his age to play with.
I became a member of this community two years ago when I decided on a whim to attend one of the moms night out events. I immediately felt like I had found a community that truly understood my experience as a single mom. One of the most important aspects for me is that childcare is provided for the events so I never have to worry about my child being cared for. My son and I truly love this community and the amazing women in it.
Single mom of almost 4yrs. I have followed this group online for almost a year but recently attended open house. We love Tara! Love that I can bring my kids along and no one bats an eye or asks why I didn’t get a sitter. Love that I’ve met some great ladies and connections. Going to events are fun, helpful, and knowing my kids are close by having a blast makes it easier to relax and enjoy myself. I’ve made friends, found lots of resources and always feel welcome by single mom strong. I wish I had found them sooner and highly recommend to every single mom I meet.
Single Mom Strong is a wonderful organization. Because of Single Mom Strong I feel less alone and inspired. Their empowerme child care has been wonderful as well. It was the break I needed in our life. Also, have you seen how many support groups, activities, and classes they do to help single parents like me? 5 stars is truely not enough
This charity is an amazing outlet for single mothers to learn from one another and create a happy and healthy community for themselves and their children. The founder, Tara, has invested all of her energy into providing access to events, activities and professionals that she knows would have been a help to her when she herself was a single mom. I've attended great events and activities that have helped me feel like I have found a village to help me. It's great to meet like-minded people and learn from one another. This group is great!

This organization is doing so many amazing things. Being a single mom is to say the least hard work. Having an organization like this makes you feel like you can do it, you are not alone. I'm even considering moving to be closer to such a great organization. Tara is just awesome.

To date I have only been able to attend a few events for SMS. The events that I did attend went well and my family was very comfortable. The founder(s) ensured that both children and parent's were attended to. They were engaging, respectful, courteous and treated everyone as equals. I actively recommend this agency to single mother's that need a group to call their own where they can get information and assistance from those that understand.
It is been so fantastic to have been invited into a group where people truly understand your struggle and are there to lend support. Single Mom Strong, Inc. is an amazing organization that will far exceed your expectations. They have essentially become my "village". Every month, they provide me with space and tools needed to grow as a single mother, not to mention the much-needed mommy time as well as bonding time with my kiddo. I don't know what I'd do if I hadn't found the Single Mom Strong, Inc. Tara goes above and beyond to make us feel special, loved and supported. I have been apart of SMS for about 5 months now and I am so glad to find a group of people that can not only understand what I am going through but can also support me in any obstacles I come across. This group of women encourages us to strive to be better than we are every day. This group provides access to resources for single mothers in need, it provides activities and fun outings for moms and their children and most importantly opens a door to make long-lasting relationships with women who understand your struggle. This organization provides so much support to single moms, and their children... I wish they were around when my mom was raising her 4 kids, while working 2 jobs to provide for us. SMS has created positive ways to bond moms with other moms, and with their kids.
SMS is an amazing organization! They do so much to support single mothers and their children. Each month they host/organize 3 events; Empowerment Workshop, Mom/child Event and Mom's Day Out. I would say Single Mom Stong is a one of a kind organization with a well thought out plan, they are a young non-profit that has done so much for the community!
Being a single mom is not an easy job. It can be one of the hardest and loneliest jobs around. I found Single Mom Strong while looking for activities for my kids and I to be a part of, but in it I found so much more. This group is more about building a "village" of support and encouragement for single moms. From empowerment talks, mom's night out, kids outings, men's mentoring, and so much more, this group can make any single mom feel accepted and strong in their journey. The founder, Tara Taylor, is so welcoming and encouraging and all the mom's and kids are remarkable. I can't wait to get more involved in all this group does. Getting out and involved has never been easy for me, but this group of ladies has made it possible, fun, and something to look forward to.
I have been a single mother of two for two years now. I had stumbled across this group one day by finding a flyer in a nearby restaurant. This was one of the best things I have ever stumbled upon in my life. Since joining and being more active I have acquired a better sense of self, a positive out look and a tribe of woman who give me a sense of empowerment I have never had before. They hold 3 events a month an empowerment workshop, a mother child event and a moms night out. I love these because not only does it feed the mind it feeds the soul and those of my children. They are working to fill the gaps for children of single mothers by creating healthy role models in our men’s mentoring program and a sense of family in the children and volunteers that help build them up. I’m not sure where I would be without this group but I can tell you I am a better person because of it.
I am currently a student and work part time. This organization has given me the opportunity to spend time with my child through monthly activities/outings. Childcare is provided during our Mom's night out events which is great since I didn't not have to look for a sitter so that I may attend and not worry who is caring for my child. Michael and Becky create a wonderful environment for the children while they are in their care. Tara has done an amazing job at creating a space where I feel welcomed since the day I joined this organization (June 2017). I only hope that more women/ single moms learn about this organization so that they may feel empowered like I have.
