I work for Sierra Nonprofit Services through the VISTA- volunteers in service to America program and have learned a great deal about this organization. They are Fiscal Sponsors for many projects that are wanting to become a 501(C)3. They include: Tuolumne Mediates, Give Every Child A Chance, LWC An Enrichment Program for Girls, CommunityGIFTBaskets.org, and Nancy's Hope Community Closet. By Sponsoring VISTA's these projects have been able to build capacity - grow their volunteers, and build a Board. Sierra Nonprofit Services has offices in Sonora California, the only support center for 300 miles for nonprofits to come in to use Foundation Center for grant searching, training on proposal writing. Hosts Harvey Chess workshops and writing workshops for volunteers to learn about grant writing. It's Technical Assistance program helps find volunteers for over 200 nonprofits in three counties by posting on VolunteerMatch.org. As well as filing paperwork and writing PSA's for events and campaigns. Sierra Nonprofit Services has a referral service for nonprofits whose needs are beyond the scope of what we offer. it is a terrific place to learn about Leadership and apply leadership concepts to our projects, or share with the community. I am very proud to be a part of this volunteer center.
