Hi All, I just want to say I didn’t know what to expect when I first heard of this organization. Once I reached out via social media I was surprisingly contacted back quickly! My son began that following weekend! He has learned so much and still getting the knowledge of the game he needs! Coach Garry is amazing once he introduced himself he took notice of my son sports condition/ skills and began to make sure my son was attentive and eager to learn! He’s supportive and his willingness to make sure our youth is getting the skills and education they want and deserve! The other coach (I’m sorry for not knowing his name) he is great as well! SBNP gives our youth the confidence and sportsmanship skills they need that will help them continue their love for the game! I truly appreciate you all and I’m so thankful and happy my son has coaches that believe him at a young age!
Coach Gary is really a stand-up individual! He genuinely cares for the youth and works to provide them with a positive place to grow basketball skills that translate into life skills. He is very personable and goes above and beyond for those that might be in need of extra support! This is an awesome program for youth!
Shoot Basketsballs Not People is a great organization. Not only do they help kids with basketball skills but also with school work and life itself. Coach Gary and his staff takes time out of their busy schedule to help these kids and motivate them to do their best. They are great mentors. Shoot Basketballs Not People is a positive organization that i would recommend to anyone . My son loves it
When Garry first spoke of starting a no -profit I was already on board before he even mentioned exactly what he was planning. Since the launch of SBNP has started, I've watch him take a dream and turn it into a reality, not just for himself, but for every child who aspires to achieve a goal. I pray for much continued success for Garry and this amazing origanization!
My son has participated in SBNP for the past two years now. Of all the sports programs he's played for he seems to like this one the most. This is not only a physical program but it helps the children grow mentally with strategic planning, good decision making, team work, good sportsmanship etc. I've noticed that my son had trouble building friendships now he's more outgoing.
On Sunday morning he's excited to workout, learn and play with his friends. Oh and the free lunch is a bonus too! Lol
SBNP is a great outreach tool for a lot of children. The work this group are doing for the children is unbelievable. They reach the children not only on the basketball court but first in for most in their daily lives. We need more programs around like this to help reach many more of our youth. This program is an outstanding program they do great work.
The Shoot Basketball NOT People movement is hands down one of the most authentic and organic programs I have ever been apart of. Watching this program grow from its inception to expanding to Akron, Ohio has been a true blessing to be apart of. Our annual clinic here in Akron attracts more than 250 kids every February and has become one of the staples in the city in terms of non-violence programs for youth. Many of our participants have grown not only to become better basketball players but better students and citizens to serve their community and that is much to do with the structure of the SBNP program as well as the pledge that the student make to themselves and one anther to remain gun free.
I def recommend this program to ANY parent looking for a positive outlet for their child.
I've know Garry for almost 20 years now and the biggest thing that stands out about him is that when he is passionate about something and puts his mind to it, he gives it his all and will not stop until he has mastered, perfected and made sure the finished project is seen as something positive. I have seen Shoot Basketballs Not People (SBNP) start as a brainstorming idea in a small college dorm room to an organization that not only does Philadelphia (or any other city for that matter) need but is ran by a man who has this incredible ambition, drive and a willingness to help and support others before he even begins to think about himself. The way he talks about the children in his program gives such a warming feeling and you can seen how proud he is of them on and off the court. He has invested so much time and money into the SBNP project for so long and I am relieved to see others notice what I've witnessed from day one. A lot of folks I know would have given up after hearing a few "No's" or "We'll get back to you" , however when times got tough Garry only laced up his kicks and put in work for a brand he believes in. A awesome coach, teacher, friend, father and role model for not only the kids but black men as well. The SBNP non profit organization is actually pretty amazing to watch because I've seen it grow from the very beginning stages of selling t-shirts from a trunk in order to raise money to buy uniforms and in some cases sneakers for the kids attending the camps which weren't able to afford it themselves to now running basketball clinics in multiple states and cities, becoming official partners and sponsored by the Jr.NBA, being selected as a Hometown Hero by the Philadelphia 76ers and most recently chosen by Black Enterprise Magazine as one of the 100 BE Modern Men of 2016. SBNP I applaud you all for what your program does for our youth, cities and people. Keep up the great work!
Providing youth with a nurturing and safe environment is essential for parents. Shoot Basketballs Not People provides that environment, coupled with physical and life skills. Surrounding youth with experienced and passionate leaders is one of the foundations for a successful person. This organization is outstanding because the leaders and volunteers serve a genuine and fun purpose of establishing an environment that's relatable for parents and youth. Another great addition to the city of Philadelphia!
SBNP is an Awesome program. Coach Garry and his team work tirelessly to develop young people to have confidence, hope, positive attitudes and the need to help.others and give back. Lastly, the youth develop or hone their basketball skills.
ShootbasketballsNotpeople provides various programs to help the children accomplish their goals. This basketball program encourage team work and an active lifestyle. They use basketball as an outlet and opportunity to mentor their participants. They allow the players to focus on enhancing specific skills . The coaches use training techniques to provide the most effective and intense training.Their training camps are for players who are serious about developing their basketball skill . They offer the following training camps: Shooting, Dribbling, Footwork, Conditioning, Defense, Guard and so much more!
I found SBNP for my son while in search for a basketball skills training camp, we were blessed to find that this program has so much more to offer. The coaches are extremely supportive and passionate about the well being of the children who attend. They are involved academically and are determined to build confident, strong young men. Shoot Basketballs Not People has become our extended family. Every parent should have this experience.
Shoot basketballs not people works to build basketball skills, confidence, and a sense of community within the community. It's leadership is committed to true partnership and collaboration, mentoring, hard work, positive environment, and team work. The best part of the organization is it comes to the communities. Because there is flexibility in location of the camps and clinics it builds up the youth one community at a time and ultimately builds a better Philadelphia.
This organization just don't teach basketball skills. They help build team work, good sportsmanship and other life skills. This organization emphasis how important education is, as well as higher education. For example, my child was misbehaving in school. A coach took time out of his day and did a surprise visit at my child's school to monitor their behavior. The coaches are good role models for the kids in this organization, especially to those who lack a male role model at home.
