I found out the hard way they don't help with certain cancers. All cancers suck and deadly. not just certain ones
I have volunteered for Shirley's Way as a patient advocate for the last two years. It's heartbreaking hearing the stories of patients that have to make the decision to pay for treatment or keep a roof over their head and feed their family. Shirley's Army is an amazing group of people that just want to help people that need a hand up. I'm proud to be part of this organization, be we strive to help as many people as possible and do not ask for anything in return.

I’ve been on chemo for about 4-yrs. and getting ready to start back next month. My wife just had major surgery and facing another one soon.thanks for all you have done for me and my family
I don't know how I would have kept my head above water without Shirley's Way helping me when I was was diagnosed with Breast cancer. I had to have a double mastectomy, I did have benefits but at 60 percent pay that didn't begin to cover my monthly bills. Shirley's way stepped up and paid my Rent and LG&E. You have no idea the stress this took off my plate at a time when that was the last thing i needed to be worrying about! Thank you again Shirley's Way!!
Shirley's way and Mike mulrooney are genuinely what this world needs. It is simply people helping people. Shirley's way meets the basic needs of people battling cancer . many times daily tasks and troubles are overlooked. These folks are helping people concentrate on treatment and beating cancer instead of how they're going to pay their bills and find their next meal.
I've volunteered with numerous organizations through the years, Shirley's Way is my favorite. You can see, touch, feel, and hear the difference made in peoples lives. The events put on, stories shared, bring the community together as a whole. People helping people!
I lost my mom to cancer when I was 14 years old. I remember the hardships that financially affected us during her 3 year battle because she wasn’t able to work some of that time because she was fighting for her life. Shirley’s Way would have made a huge impact on our family had it been around then. People shouldn’t have to worry about losing their homes and not being able to keep their lights on when they are literally fighting to stay alive. This organization is absolutely life changing!
This organization truly changes the world one good deed at a time. My 40 year old cousin was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer this year. This organization helped his wife buy groceries while he was unable to work.
The irony of the inspiration to this organization was that Shirley was actually one of my patients when I was in pharmacy school. I remember seeing her and how kind she was whenever she came to pick up her medications. After her death, her son started this organization that 20 years later would help me and my family. It truly has made me realize that small good deeds make very very huge impacts.
As a survivor who was fortunate enough to have great insurance and amazing family support there were still days I struggled with fear.... the fear of the unknown, of nausea, of chemo, and soooo much more. But there was never a time i had to worry about my mortgage or LG&E or if i was going to be able to buy my medicine.... I had to focus on getting rid of the cancer that was trying to take over my body with no distractions! The thought that in 2018 there are people we cant, simply breaks my heart... what Shirley’s Way is doing is absolutely amazing!!! People helping People ... it cant get any easier than that! Thank you for all you do everyday!!!
Shirley's Way was so supportive and helpful and worked non stop for my daughters benefit. We felt they truly cared and did everything possible to make this benefit the best it could possibly be. Wes Faust went above and beyond. Nothing but praise for a great non profit organization.
In 2016 I was diagnosed at Stage 3c colon cancer at 37. After that came surgery, chemo and never ending Drs appointments which hindered my ability to work. I received a disconnect from my electric company and no matter what I said they would not work with me. I spoke with Mike at Shirleys Way and he was a god send. He jumped to helped right away without having to go through a long drawn out process of showing proof. I'll be forever grateful.
I approached shirley way to help a coworker that was diagnosed with an aggressive breast cancer. They didn't expect her to live long maybe a year. I gave them her information, Shirley's way had never met this person but all this lady wanted was money for some wings cause she had lost all of her hair. She wanted to look pretty even though she felt real bad. They stepped up and sent her a check for wings plus a little more to help with any needs to make her comfortable her last few months.
When cancer touched our family we were blessed beyond measure that it did not become a financial hardship. We did overheard conversations in the waiting room among other patients struggling to make co-pays or deductibles. It was simply heartbreaking. Shirley’s Way offers hope and piece of mind allowing families to focus on the battle that is important.

I love what Shirley’s Way does!! No other organization that I’m aware of helps people with their basic necessities...rent, utilities, transportation expenses, co-payments and/or food while they’re in treatment. So many people lose everything just trying to save their own lives or that of their children and Shirley’s Way helps folks in their time of need. People shouldn’t have to choose between treatment and eating or being able to keep their lights on and this organization helps alleviate some of those burdens.
Shirley way is an awesome charity. My father in law was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. They were struggling with everyday bills. We reached out to Shirleys way for help. They were getting ready to help with some of the house hold bills when he passed. My father in law had no life insurance so Shirleys way donated the money for the bills to help give him the proper burial he wanted. We can not thank Shirleys Way enough for helping our family.
Mike Mulrooney is a man of integrity and is on a mission to help those in need. How many charities go above and beyond to help with emotional and financial needs? Shirley's Way has helped dying patients find dignity and love. Please donate any amount, large or small. They have an open book policy regarding financial records as well as Mr. Mulrooney working tirelessly for years to fulfill a promise he made to his mother! I work with his wife Jenni and have never met such an outstanding family. This man and this charity are angels to many. People helping people is their slogan...Shirley's Way does just that!
My 7 yr old son was diagnosed with medulloblastoma stage 4 brain cancer tumor was massive blocked fluid to spine cause pressure on brain and smashed otpic nerves causing him to loose vision. He is a true warrior they gave me 35% chance of life after surgery. He suffered massive stroke during surgery. Its been a real struggle we spent 8 months inpatient and he is a baby of 6 so no work hospital was new home and almost lost my son 3 times. God sent Shirley's way in our path and they was angels from the start thanksgiving to Christmas and helping keep a roof over our head and bills caught up. Words can't describe the gratitude I have for them.
I found Shirley's Way, while I was being treated in late 2013, through an acquaintance who had been helped by them. They needed food while she was being treated for brain cancer and Shirley's Way gave them grocery cards and a Thanksgiving dinner that year. I bought "cancer sucks" shirts for my family...because it just does. My husband and I have both had it and many people we know have had it or been lost to it. Working with Shirley's Way gives us an outlet to "pay it forward" and use our experiences to help someone else. It's a special group of people and I love them all!
I am a Breast Cancer Survivor that has been apart of Shirley's Way since the beginning. I have participated in several fund raising events, eager to do what I could for people battling cancer. I was diagnosed two years ago and Shirley's Way offered their support early on. I will always do what I can to help support this organization. I am proud to be a part of Shirley's Way and thankful that my family can be involved with people helping people.
Shirley’s Way is an amazing organization that helped us while my wife was fighting her fight. I lost my job due to taking care of her and if not for Shirley’s Way I would have lost everything. One of the most important thing they did was give me time.... precious time with the love of my life. Even after she passed they where there until I was back on my feet. Thanks for what you guys do!
