Mission: Shine Global is dedicated to ending the exploitation and abuse of children worldwide through films that raise awareness, promote action and inspire change.
Results: Since our founding in 2005 as a non-profit film production company, Shine Global has given voice to some of the world’s most at-risk children, shared their stories, inspired millions of viewers, and won more than 20 major film awards, including an Academy Award nomination and Best Director Documentary at Sundance for our documentary film WAR/DANCE. WAR/DANCE was shown to congress in support of the passage of the Child Soldiering Act to help prevent the use and recruitment of child soldiers throughout the world. Funds were used to establish a health center in the Patongo camp in Uganda and to establish a scholarship fund for children in the camp. THE HARVEST/LA COSECHA with EP Eva Longoria is about children migrant farmworkers in the US. Scenes have been show to the US Department of Labor and to members of Congress in support of changing the unfair labor regulations regarding children in agriculture. INOCENTE has been used in arts workshops for children and any profits will go towards non-profit organizations working on the ground with homeless children.
