This “counseling” group was hired by my ex husband to create a fake therapy note, to be used against me in family court. The therapy note was filed with inconsistencies & clearly intended to paint me as horrible parent. The therapist even documented that I was living in a halfway house.
Which makes no sense, I do not have a criminal record & no history of substance abuse, how could I be living in a halfway house.
I actually work for the largest healthcare company in the USA & passed a nationwide criminal background check and passed a drug test. This company is for hire, to any unscrupulous parent, that wants to unfairly sway the Court’s opinion.
I am thankful, I was able to show the Court, that the licensed therapist hired by my ex and his lawyer, was a liar.
Unfortunately, I don’t believe that this was their first time & I doubt it will be their last time.

I have volunteering with Shield Bearer for about six years. One of the things I like about them is they can help those in need in a wide variety of areas. I decided to serve on the Board a couple of years ago because I love what they are about. I leave their office feeling good.

I was looking for a community organization that was focused on making a difference in individual lives, focused on building community through strengthening the families that live within our community, and focused on meeting these goals while expressing Christian values both organizationally and individually. That is a tall set of standards to meet, and Shield Bearer meets them all. Regardless of my own life circumstances and responsibilities, Shield Bearer has always opened doors for me to contribute to their mission by giving of my time, my talents, and my money. Never have I felt judged for what I could not do; rather, I leave every interaction with Shield Bearer feeling loved and valued.

Giving money is easy. Working for an organization is something most of us can do. Finding a place like Shield Bearer where you can give from your heart with trust is a rare gift these days. Thank you, Shield Bearer, for what you do for our communities, our families, and us.

I began volunteering with Shield Bearer a year ago, after a friend invited me to an appreciation event for the organization. I liked the information about the counselling services they provide for girls coming out of sex trafficking, for victims of abuse, for families needing help communicating with each other, and most recently, counselling those dealing with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. I chose to go to a community breakfast for more information. I felt called to assist a nonprofit, but didn't know which one. Thanks to the information I received at the breakfast, I soon found our family needing the counselling services and we became clients. I was placed in Shield Bearer's path for a reason. As a client, I saw the tremendous benefits Shield Bearer provides to the Houston Area communities through their counselling services. My calling was answered that this is where I needed to focus my volunteer efforts. The welcoming hearts of the board members and other volunteers are exhilarating and infectious. The more I volunteer, the more I WANT to volunteer. I could not have asked for a better nonprofit to be affiliated with.

I have been involved with Shield Bearer for about six years. I started volunteering whenever I had time to help out. I love the great energy of Shield Bearer whether I am in the office or volunteering at an event. Those who are part of Shield Bearer have a caring spirit. The mission and purpose of Shield Bearer is why I joined the Board. I can volunteer with one organization and support the causes I believe in. I am about helping those who have and are serving in the military, building strong families and working with women. Shield Bearer not only does counseling but has preventative programs so they can work on become more aware individuals.

I have been involved with Shield Bearer for approximately 10 years and am now a board member with the company. Shield Bearer provides counseling for individuals suffering from traumatic events (such as sex trafficking) and for individuals contemplating divorce. It has been a pleasure working with the company, its board members, and its staff.

From the moment I first stepped in the front doors and met the Client Relation Specialists to meeting with the administration staff to meeting the many dedicated volunteers who donate their time, services, talents, and desire to serve and minister to the greater good of the community - I have been so impressed and humbled by the care and outpouring of generosity of spirit and commitment to extend grace, love, and mercy to all those who call upon Shield Bearer for help. Shield Bearer works hard to develop relationships with other organizations, individuals, businesses, churches, and agencies that are doing wonderful work in order to create a seamless synergy of work to heal hearts and propel all those in our community to living their best life. I am so grateful to have found this wonderful organization!

I first met Roy Wooten through a networking event and was touched by his caring message and hearing about the heart of Shield Bearer. It is such a wonderful part of the community, ready to help those in need of counseling with principles based on the Word of God. I have found that, unless people have had a need for their services, they may not know about their mission. I have invited them to speak at our networking group several times, and we have contributed to some of their fund-raising events. I am grateful that helping those who have served in the military is part of thier focus. Shield Bearer is a treasure to our community.

I first became acquainted with this amazing organization through various networking events I attended and had the opportunity to hear presentations by Roy Wooten or Melissa Rotholz. I knew I wanted to learn more about this group as they were located in my local community and I have the opportunity to meet people on a regular basis that are hurting, in need and could use their support and services. I attended a breakfast meeting and tour of their main location. I began to refer friends and clients to Shield Bearer and heard all the glowing feedback about how Shield Bearer was having a positive impact on their lives. I attended more fund raising events to show my support and touted their wonderful operations every chance I could. I then had the opportunity to join the board and it has allowed me to learn even more about the strategic plans for this growing non-profit in our communities. I can't wait to see where God leads these caring professionals next!

My name is Shari Nightingale and I am a Board Member and a volunteer. My daughter was a victim of a murder suicide after ending an abusive relationship. A friend put me in touch with Roy, the Executive Director and after several meetings, we partnered to develop the Shield Bearer’s Lindsay's Light Dating Violence Prevention Program. I am the Director of the program. My other daughter and I go into schools, churches, community centers, student groups, community organizations, etc, educating about Dating Violence and telling my daughter’s story. The response has been overwhelming.

I volunteer at Shield Bearer because their staff and volunteers "Walk their Talk!" My interactions with this caring and giving staff far exceed expectations. Their counseling services and programs truly serve the hearts of struggling individuals and families with much compassion and caring. 1 John 3:18 reads: "Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." (NIV) Serving as a volunteer I have personally seen how the organization has been and continues to be obedient to God's word. I find myself constantly encouraging hurting people, and others, who are looking for somewhere to volunteer their services, to contact Shield Bearer. Shield Bearer is certainly a Great Nonprofit organization.

I am a case manager at a local non-profit in Houston which serves survivors of human trafficking. Shield Bearer has been providing counseling to our clients for about a year and we've heard nothing but positive feedback from all of our clients. The counselors at Shield Bearer are trauma-informed and give each client the respect and dignity they deserve. Our clients have voiced how "relaxing" counseling is and how they appreciated being able to "get stuff off my chest." We will continue to utilize Shield Bearer in the future because of how much they care.

Shield Bearer is the only agency that I know of that provides high-quality, skilled counseling and support to the Houston community without regard to ability to pay. They never want finances to be a reason someone doesn't get the help they need, and they will work with you to find a rate that is affordable for you. The counselors are highly trained, warm and caring, and able to address a wide-range of issues. Shield Bearer is a blessing throughout NW Houston with several locations: Main Office on Jones Road (77070), and satellite offices in West Houston (Barker-Cypress/West Little York), Tomball, Conroe , and Cypress Station (1960 and I-45).

"The goal at Shield Bearer is to say "YES!" to anyone who needs our help."- Executive Director, Roy Wooten.

At Shield Bearer, I have worked as a donor, volunteer, and more recently, as a counselor in their offices. I have been a part of the Shield Bearer family for many years. When I met Roy, their executive director, I was invited to meet other staff, clients, and to attend fundraising events. Every person I met who was associated with Shield Bearer- Board, staff or client- was an inspiration. After going back to graduate school, I am now a licensed counselor and work for Shield Bearer. After working on the inside with staff and my fellow counselors, I can truly say that there is no finer organization of people who want to help others. And who make a real difference every day in our part of the world.

I am honored to work for an organization that not only believes “strong communities are built by healthy families” yet understands that “healthy families have their strongest link in the marriage relationship.”

Shield Bearer continuously strives to heal “hurting hearts,” with a unique relationship-centered philosophy which has resulted in discernible, positive change with couples/marriages that expands outward in the family. There is a newfound family wholeness, and this felt sense then expands outward from the family into the community, in that the family takes an active interest with getting involved in philanthropic services.

With an understanding that strengthening marriages becomes an agent for positive change within the family unit, combined with an in-depth knowledge in evidence-based therapy models, such as Emotionally Focused Therapy and The Gottman Method, Shield Bearer’s counseling team has been able to improve and even “save” relationships from trajectories toward marital dissolution.

As a relationship therapist at Shield Bearer, I have seen that when couples learn how to heal from emotional wounds, nourish their love and honor one another’s dreams, they are better able to cultivate a culture of we-ness and experience a satisfying relationship. In turn, couples have a greater capacity to be conscious parents, to stay aware of their own past conditioning that keeps getting triggered. From both their individual and interpersonal growth, couples begin understanding how to better connect with their children and tune into their feelings, for example. Even more, as couples are learning how to accept their own uncomfortable feelings (e.g., feeling helpless or hurt)--which is a prerequisite in being able to respond to situations instead of becoming triggered and reactive—they then know better how to help their children sit with uncomfortable emotions and respond from an as is place.

Since the initial launch in 2005, Shield Bearer has remained true to their mission and overarching desire to help couples and families in a myriad of ways, such as offering marriage workshops, seminars, marriage intensives, couples and family counseling. In addition, the executive leader of the organization, Roy Wooten, has been working with his wife, Devra, for over 20 years, helping couples restore their love; and they have distilled the knowledge and insight gained from their professional avalanche experience into their book The Secret to Lifetime Love.

At Shield Bearer, our counseling staff shares a passion and enthusiasm for repairing marriages and relationships; we believe in cultivating a culture of togetherness—the same recipe for healthy relationships— and that parlays into a team of knowledgeable, empathic and skilled therapists.

I have worked in the field of mental health for over 40 years, and have been at Shield Bearer for a little over 1 year. I am in awe everyday at the number of calls that come into Shield Bearer, requesting help!! The range of requests are coming from people with zero income to those who have no problem paying the maximum fee. Shield Bearer will not turn clients away due to their inability to pay. That to me is incredible in itself. Professional counseling is provided consistently in a safe, non-threatening, environment.

Shield Bearer has helped thousands of people, couples and families over its 9 years since opening. I am honored to volunteer my time, energy, prayers and donations to help people get the love, support and care they need. SB is willing to meet everyone where they are in their situation without letting a persons finances get in the way of receiving the high level of care everyone deserves. This requires more of us to help but in the end we get something in return.

Our Christian base keeps us grounded in what's most important, and we know God is with in all that we do. Many of our clients are not Christians or even have a faith base but our love for God compels us to help take care and assist everyone who needs it, regardless.

Our most recent work in the Humana trafficking area is work that we most do even more to help young woman get out of start to live fulfilling and productive lives. And, our work with children on several levels in the schools is another great area.

While I cannot mention all that SB is involved in, please join us in fighting for hearts of people.

Thanks.
