Mission: The purpose of the sheridan museum of history is to preserve the heritage of the area by acquiring, managing and protecting a collection of irreplaceable artifacts, memorabilia and verbal recounts of days gone by. Through exhibits and printed material, we provide access to the public so they may learn from our exhibits and demonstrations. To further protect our collection, we are spending two years raising the funds to renovate and purchase a historic 1914 building as a permanent location for the museum and a community gathering space "making history matter" in sheridan.
Programs: Our primary mission is to preserve and protect historic artifacts from the sheridan area and through exhibits share them with the community. This year we hired professionals to help us make our display more interpretive and interesting for our visitors. By improving our displays, it has made our school program more understandable and exciting for the students. These enhancements have brought visitors back to the museum to see what is new and different.
there are operation expenses required to run the museum. In order to accomplish our mission of preserving the history of sheridan, it was necessary to rent a building, have an alarm, advertise our events, have liability insurance and utilities. Without these operating costs, there would be no museum and the history of the area would be lost.
