How does one begin to express the Gratitude one feels for an organization that has not only helped our family stay safe, but also be our Mentors, feel like family and proven to be those we can trust and have a long standing friendship with, how?
Hopefully this review can help in that. This organizatión is like no other. There's a kind person answering calls. An office Manager that truly loves the çlients and a director that goes all out for each program participant. But it doesn't stop there! The President goes to battle for their clients and so do the employees and volunteers!
This is a safe space for anyone who needs it. You are not judged here. You and your family/children are welcomed and made to feel special. Important. Valuable and worth their time!

I came to know Shepherd's Door through the organization's Founder, Linda Offray. I was a young single pregnant mother at the time, and Linda invited me to take part in the Black Infant Health Program during my prenatal visit at the community clinic. Having just come out of a verbally and emotionally abusive relationship, Shepherd's Door taught me about healthy relationships and how to recognize the warning signs of a toxic one. I met other women with similar experiences to my own, and it gave me the motivation to go to college and learn film. I had the exciting opportunity to work with Shepherd's Door on a documentary about domestic violence, and it is something I am proud of to this day. I am forever grateful to this organization for the mentorship I have received and the lasting friendships I have made.

Using a holistic approach, Team Shepherd's Door (SD) truly cares for and supports each individual. Their director takes her time to see all who walk through the door and ensures they have access to available resources. As a volunteer, I immediately sensed SD's warmth and dedication. SD listens, supports, and advocates for those they serve.

I came across Shepherd's Door because I was looking for a better Mandated batters Program. I didn't feel heard or respected at the previous one I attended. And it wasn't until I started attending Shepherd's Door Program, I became educated on the Cycle of Violence that I was experiencing and educated on Domestic Violence and the depths of it. The world saw me as an abuser because that is what the court system labeled me, but Shepherd Door saw the real me a Domestic Violence Survivor. After completed the batters program Tunisia kindly extended her support group to me knowing that I still needed support. And my personal growth skyrocketed. I drove from Fontana to Pasadena each week for the support group. Tunisia became my mentor and Shepherd Door became my extended family. Now, through a workforce program I am working at Shepherd's Door as a Case Manager guiding DV victims and survivors. Shepherd's Door has a very special place in my heart.

I retired from the corporate world back in 2014. Being an active person, I still needed something to do, so I started looking for volunteer work in the community. I was introduced to Linda Offray by a mutual friend, she is the owner of Shepherd's Door. I started working with Linda in 2014 it was the most rewarding thing I could have done. I grew up in DV and there was no place like this for me and my family. Shepherd's Door does more than give the court mandated 52-week Batterer's classes required by the courts.
We do DV Counseling, Support Groups, Healing Art Workshops, Financial Literacy, Youth Violence Prevention Education, Anger Mgmt., 40-hour Domestic Violence Training, Tap cards, Taxi Vouchers and referrals for Food, Clothing, Mental Health and Medical Care. We also attend court appearances with clients when time allows. We remain with our clients until they are strong enough to stand on their own, and we are always here for them. We have clients that have come from other programs and tell us that they no longer get support after the initial intake.
Shepherd's Door is where I received my healing and found my purpose in my retirement life. It has fulfilled me, enlightened me and allowed me to help so many others and be free to pray for them. 2024 will be 10 years for me with Shepherd's Door, after retiring from here I will be retired for life. Amen.

Love their services.

I was a victim and I felt broke. They bought me light when I was in my darkness. Whenever I need their emotional support, they are always here. When I need them, they never turn me down. They are like my healper, my company with peer support. I am amazed about what they have done for me, and am willing to join their volunteer team to help others out.

I was involved in a domestic violence situation in 2020. DCFS was involved because I was holding my daughter at the time of the incident. They recommended that I do family preservation and I was referred over to Shepherds door. I enrolled in the support group as well as the 52 week course. During that time they allowed me the space to be able to learn about my experience and most importantly heal. After my case was closed I decided to continue on and complete the 52 week course. I felt so free and strong and capable for the first time in a long time. Once I completed the course I knew I wanted to continue on a path in helping other woman who have gone through similar situations. Mrs. Linda suggested I take the certification course for advocacy. I did just that and passed with 100% ! Not only did shepherds door help me with my situation and my healing journey they also helped me to be able to help others and I will forever be grateful to them all. They are all wonderful and kind woman and I would absolutely recommend their services to anyone in need. Thank you Shepherds Door for making my life better.
