Mission: The Shepherd’s Center of Oakton-Vienna (SCOV) is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to promoting and supporting purposeful, independent living for mature adults through: volunteer opportunities, transportation assistance, support services, lifelong learning and cultural enrichment opportunities.
Target demographics: older adults 50+
Geographic areas served: the Oakton, Vienna, Dunn Loring areas of northern Virginia
Programs: Caregiver medical and companion transportation - this program is designed to provide older adults transportation to doctors appointments, grocery stores, banks, hairdresser, and public library. In current tax year, volunteers of this program assisted approximately 3,000 older adults with over 1,100 rides.
day trip activities - this program provides recreational, and education activities for older adults. The organization hosted numerous activities that included day trips in current tax year.
adventures in learning program is designed to promote continuing education.
