Programs: Shepherds' core values center around the themes of honoring god and valuing people. Programming for residents as well as care for the staff is filtered around these values. 88 individuals reside at or near shepherds and enjoy full-time, year-round care. Core values are considered in all that is offered, which includes training in living skills, as well as spiritual and social enrichment. Shepherds has a core philosophy of appropriate independence. Bible training, prayer and spiritual values are stressed through bible and music enrichment classes and unit devotionals. Residents attend sunday services and wednesday evening church services on or off campus. The weekly chapel service is another highlight. These services offer compassionate christian care for the intellectual disabled. The ministry is bible-based and christ-centered. Operations are primarily funded by contributions from shepherds foundation as the funding from family, guardian and third party sources is insufficient to cover the expenses of this ministry.
shepherds college is the country's leading three year post-secondary education program for students with intellectual disabilities. The college offers career skills, a smooth transition to appropriate independence and a lasting awareness of god and his plan for the student's life. shepherds enterprises, the vocational arm of shepherds, provides work opportunities for residents, clients and students. Enterprises administers to individuals working in the community and has on-campus crews to accomplish tasks in areas such as the food service, domestics, and grounds keeping departments. On-campus work opportunities include contract work for other businesses.
