I was outside my mom's house one day and saw a large-breed hound wandering around 318. Busy road, fast semi trucks zooming off the highway....I couldn't just leave him out there. Called him to me and he came right on over. I was able to get him inside the fenced-in back yard. Keep him safe. I was trying to call the shelter (no one was answering for several minutes and multiple call attempts) when they just showed up (guessing someone else reported seeing him but didn't bother trying to get him) and treated me like a criminal, thought I was the dog's owner, despite telling them I wasn't and told them my entire 10-minute history with the dog, said we're allergic and can't keep dogs, we don't even own any dog supplies or anything. They thought it was all a lie and told me they couldn't take the dog without me signing it over to them. I told them I didn't want to sign them over and be blacklisted from adopting in the future if I'm not the owner, they can just take the dog like they found it wandering the street on it's own like I had never intervened. But they started making threats with the police and considering I was a young single mother at the time (this was early 2000's), decided to comply just to get them off the property. And considering it looked like a purebred blue tick hound, I'm guessing there was an owner trying to find it. And from what I understand, they kept that dog, didn't try finding it's owner, and sold it out to someone else. But the way they spoke to me was hostile and uncalled for. I was on their side and they treated me like a neglectful owner! NEVER dealt with them again. Makes my blood boil to think they're even still in business.
