Mission: To provide and operate non-sectarian housing for homeless and non-homeless mentally disabled or impaired adults.
Programs: Sheltered homes of alexandria (sha) has group homes, condominiums, and a small apartment complex of 12 units that provide residential services, both for clients receiving mental health treatment and long term residents with behavioral health conditions, substance abuse disorders, and/or developmental or intellectual disabilities. Sha works closely with the city of alexandria department of community and human services (dchs) to meet the growing need to find safe and affordable housing for the growing client base. During fiscal year 2017, dchs provided in-kind contributions of services and use of facilities valued at $768,459. Total program expenses for fiscal year 2017 including in-kind expenses were $1,152,700.
