Shakespeare's Sister Company is operating in New York City where there will always be a great need for dedicated, energetic, and wholesome community outreach programs. Headed up by Kris Lundberg, who embodies all of the things mentioned above, SSC will undoubtedly touch countless lives. As a collegiate athlete I had always thought that sport was by far and away the best tool to empower today's youth. After spending time with SSC I definitely realized the power of the arts and am a true believer in this groups mission and approach. People worry about pop culture today and the negative social impact it is having - Shakespeare's Sister Company is a strong counter movement that should be supported and should continue to reach more neighborhoods in New York City and beyond.

I joined Shakespeare's Sister Company in February 2012 and it has been a wonderful experience. I have met great people and learned a lot. I have been able to contribute on many levels from attending various events around NYC to help spread the word about the company to working with our team on a fundraising event. The company's mission is unique and important. Kris Lundberg, the founder of Shakespeare's Sister Company, is a truly inspirational leader. Her dedication to the organization is boundless and she creates the same dedication within her team as well.

I entered the Shakespeare's Sister Company not knowing what to expect. However, it soon became clear to me how impactful the company is. Aside from promoting women in the arts, the organization also strives to better its community through various workshops and initiatives. As an Intern, I had the great pleasure of working in the Grant Research and Development division. As I reached out to the various grant writers, it was with much honor that I wrote about the organization and its values. I also had the opportunity to attend multiple children's workshops headed by the organization's Artistic Director Kris Lundberg. Through these workshops, Kris is able to help participating children develop their cognitive and personal abilities. The individuals that work at the organization are as important as its mission and its work in the community. Everyone is very passionate about the company and enthusiastically works to further its impact. Although the Shakespeare's Sister Company is only in its early stages of development, I was able to get an inside look at the great potential that the organization has. I believe that with time and the continuing dedication of its contributors, the Shakespeare's Sister Company will in a few years become a prominent non-profit organization in New York City.

I was ready to make a difference. Shakespeare's Sister Company allowed me to do that and then some. The SSC is an organization with tremendous heart and determination. Not only was i immediately welcomed into the group but i was given integral hands on opportunities, using my strengths and developing some new ones, assisting the company on the ground level with community outreach workshops, fundraising events, and future planning. This company and it's director Kris have some wonderful places to go and i recommend that anyone interested in the arts innate ability to touch the souls of a community to invest some time or interest in this young Company

The SSC is a company with excellent goals, a great leader and amazing potential. Even in the capacity of planning a fundraiser with the SSC, I was able to experience all of this while helping to plan a spring fundraiser, and I must say, I was hooked. Kris is a very special individual with a passion for the arts like no other, and is not only a great event planner, but a great person. I would recommend this nonprofit to anyone interested in supporting an amazing cause and interested in the arts.

I found Shakespeare's Sister Company to be an inspiring and effective organization that positively impacted single adult homeless women who suffer from severe mental illness. The organization and specifically Kris Lundberg was able to effectively and compassionately engage women with severe mental illness and psychotic features in a workshop series designed to improve thier self-awareness and self-worth. The activities offered and the medium used was able to reach the women in a "miraculous" manner. The participants were engaged and appeared to benefit immensely from the activities.

Kris asked me to speak and read from my two novels about Shakespeare before their staged reading of Twelfth Night. I was amazed at the skill and accessibility and creative cross-gender casting and the ability of this young troupe to bring alive a 400-year-old play so that it spoke to everyone. I am excited about all of their future work and will be there cheering them on! Wonderful that they are involved in so many good things!

I have chosen to support Shakespeare's Sister Company because it celebrates and promotes various works written by women, offers actresses the opportunity to play strong female characters, and also gives the audience a chance to see works of art written by and for women. SSC has also held some incredibly creative fundraising events, including a recent book swap and reading at a Victorian Tea House in Grammercy Park. Being a part of SSC is a fun way to experience the theater while giving back to the community.

It has been such a pleasure working with Shakespeare's Sister Company! Kris has given me the opportunity to work on amazing female roles. The company is very professional, and actors are treated with complete respect. It is exactly the type of company I've longed to work with since moving to New York.

As a professional musician with experience on several platinum CDs and Broadway, I was impressed with Kristen Lundberg's abilities and energy and drive and passion. I helped her raise money for her company by performing along with other Broadway notables, which she organized by herself, and made seed money for Shakespeare's Sister. Then I attended a staged reading of Twelfth Night, cast with new visions for both gender and race, and acted wonderfully by a cast of professionals. An enjoyable evening, and certainly a promising preview of what is to come from this young and energetic company.
