Our family has adopted 2 dogs through Shadow Husky Rescue and I think they are just a phenomenal. I had been thinking of getting a second dog for a while now. When I rescued my 1st dog I fell I love with her picture and knew she was meant to be and that’s what happened when I saw her video and pictures of Rhea, I just knew I’d love her and be able to give her a forever home. Rhea is just a ball of sunshine and is super sweet and loves her belly rubs. She has fallen into our household like she was meant to be there. My son and I are so excited to have her. I cannot thank them enough for everything they do and for allowing us to bring this beautiful girl home to her forever home. She is just a joy to be around. I am so grateful for everything.
Shadow Husky Rescue is so easy to work with. We met Itzel while she was being fostered by Nicole. I knew by the look in Izzy’s eyes that we would be companionable any least, and family, most likely. We were able to introduce her to our large English Cream and go in a walk to do a vibe check between the dogs. We then fostered her for a week to see if we were all happy together. I’m delighted to report that we have become her forever home. She’s a terrific little sister to our big boy Arlo. They play, rest and hang out in the yard and around the house. Shadow Husky Rescue has gone above and beyond. They are constantly busy looking for ways to help more dogs. Personally, they have been so kind and helpful to my husband and I. We have adopted two huskys from this nonprofit and they make sure that the dogs are in a safe and loving home. They also make sure that no matter what, the dogs will always have a home if something were to happen with the current fosters/adopters. We reached out in march of 2023 wanting to bring in another rescue to keep our other rescue company. We got Kayla through shadow husky. Tim and Liz have been amazing for everything they do and helping us bring in a new family member in. They don’t turn huskies away if there’s medical/behavioral problems and that is the key! They are all not bad and need some love! Tim and Liz will bend over backwards for huskies and I have a great admiration for them! They don’t give up and that’s amazing. Our family and friends will always support what they do. Tim saved Kayla and we took her in. She was broken when she came but in the end saving her saved a broken spot in me. Thank you Tim and Liz!
After my Brother passed, I was tasked with finding his newly reduced puppy a home.
She is an adventurous, energetic husky. She loves attention and kids. I was having the hardest time finding her a good loving home. I was turned down by so other rescues because they were full, and that’s where they stopped helping.
But Shadow rescue swooped in and saved the day. After only a couple exchanges with families we found an amazing fit. They are active and she has a sister now and I know she loves company, which is amazing!!!
And I know in my heart I did all I could to find her a home in honor of my brother, But it wouldn’t have been possible without the help for Shadows Husky rescue.

After my beautiful husky Maya passed away, she left us heartbroken.
I follow Tim and Shadow Husky Rescue on Facebook. I commented on a post for a dog however, they had already been adopted. After giving him my background story of loosing my beloved Maya, he suggested Molly. Molly and my Great Pyrenees Pumpkin hit it off from the first day they met and have been inseparable ever since.
Tim was very helpful and made the process of fostering/adopting an ease.
We are so incredibly blessed to have found our beautiful Monty (formerly named Ziggy – we previously had a dog named Ziggy) through Shadow Husky Rescue. After losing our two incredible dogs within 4 ½ months of each other, we were beyond heartbroken. We knew we had to make the leap and adopt again. I absolutely fell in love with Monty’s picture and his story on the Shadow Husky Rescue site…I knew he would be the one to help mend our broken hearts. Tim responded to my request immediately and his foster family brought Monty to our home. The transition has been easy and Monty is right at home in our home. He loves going on walks each day, greeting everyone he meets, and playing in the park with other doggies. Monty could not be a happier boy and we couldn’t be happier. Thank you Shadow Husky Rescue!
Truly the best Husky Rescue we have ever worked with! We’ve adopted (2) Huskies from SHR, and I’m certain we will adopt more in the future, as well! Approved adopters don’t have to live in CA….which is a big plus for us, as we live in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee ❤️!!
SHR does their due diligence when checking out potential adopters, and is the only Husky Rescue that I know of, that will take adopted dogs back, if the adopters find themselves needing to rehome an SHR pup, no matter when the unfortunate situation arises….personally! You don’t see that kind of dedication every day, not from any other rescue.

I can’t say enough about the McVickers….what awesome, caring people, who will go to the ends of the Earth to save a needy Husky and nurse them back to health!
My husband and I were interested in adopting a Special Needs Husky, that besides having Epilepsy, had so many other underlying health issues. We did not care….we have 7 Huskies in our Rescue pack, several with Special Needs. We saw Tim McVickers’ Facebook post about this sweet Senior gal and decided we needed to adopt this baby!
Immediately upon speaking with both Elizabeth & Tim over the phone, we could tell how much this Husky needed them! She was a very sick girl, prolonged neglect at being banished outdoors & not even on Epilepsy meds, her care would cost them over $15,000 to get her on the road to recovery. They didn’t hesitate, not for one second!
I wanted to help with Myah’s mounting medical costs and thought, as an Independent Scentsy Director, why not do a Scentsy Fundraiser for their Rescue? They agreed, we started it that very night, and it was a rousing success! Their supporters were SO generous with their purchases, I was overwhelmed by their love of this couple and their Rescue.
I have now joined those supporters ….and will be working with the McVickers several times every year, doing more fundraisers, from this day forward. Loving the Husky breed as my husband and I do, I cannot wait to help out with the next Fundraiser a little later this Summer!

We lost our husky Diesel exactly a year ago. We weren't searching for dogs. But randomly my husband said to look at these pair of dogs. So I inquired and Tim got a hold of me. We did a trial run for a week with both our girls Skye and Piper. By the end if the first day the huskies were still getting acclimated to our home/backyard and were getting into tiffs. Tim took my phone call and walked me through some things I could do. This is not only a great place to adopt huskies from but also a great place to donate to so that you are able to help other huskies that they have.
I just want to say how I appreciated how thorough Tim was in checking the backyard(we sent a video), wanting to ensure that the dogs were going to be safe and to see how they interacted with us plus our kids.
I have been a life long husky lover and owner for the past 40 years. I had recently lost my boy Enzo, a husky whom I had rescued 13.5 years earlier, and who lived to close 16 years. I was heartbroken and didn't think I'd get another dog for some time. However, after reading about so many shelters being overcrowded with the many "COVID" dogs that were no longer wanted, I had to search for another companion.
I began looking at several husky rescues and came across Shadow Husky Rescue. Their postings provided very detailed useful information about their dogs up for adoption along with multiple pictures and videos. When I inquired about one, the response was was quick, personal and professional. When I found the dog I wanted to adopt, I was impressed how much the Rescue ensures the dogs they adopt out are going to good and loving homes. They had me foster for one week before committing which is a wonderful way to be sure the dog is a good fit.
I adopted a beautiful, 2.5 year old boy, Boomer and I couldn't be happier. He is a sweet and smart boy with endless energy and fun.
Shadow Husky Rescue does such wonderful work rescuing huskies from all different situations, sometimes very dire situations that literally save huskies lives. They are truly devoted to huskies first and foremost. I stumbled across Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc. via Husky Halfway House tagged Facebook post. Being that Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc were in California, I checked out their page and hit the like/follow button a while back.
My husband and I have been discussing adding a Husky to our pack as we are empty nesters, and he has been retired from the Army for over a year now. I was scrolling on Facebook and came across a red/brown fellow named Bru who had a unique circumstance that required a rapid placement before the first of the year.
I immediately showed him and read his story to my husband. He said we have to reach out and see about rescuing him. I texted Tim and gave him a brief on our interest in Bru, our background, our current pack (7YO F Siberian Husky and 6YO F Great Dane), and our travel habits. Tim promptly got back with us to fill out an adoption application and asked for videos of our backyard and fence situation. I want to say I am impressed with how thorough Tim is with his vetting process. Later that evening, we got the green light to set up a meet and greet with Bru's owners. Tim made the process smooth and pleasant for all parties involved.
Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc. offers a one-week foster trial before adoption to ensure all is well with the placement between dogs and humans. I sent videos and pictures of Bru's interactions during our one-week foster trial. I wholeheartedly appreciate Tim's advice after seeing an interaction video of Bru and Sakura. He pointed out to me Sakura was not happy about Bru playing too rough, as I perceived it as a dominant thing. He politely pointed out the issue, guided me, and encouraged me on how to correct Bru so they could co-exist and play together. Bru has improved with his rough playing and is adjusting well in his new home with his two sisters, Sakura and Lily.

Thanks to Tim, we adopted Willow in April and she has been the greatest addition to our family. She loves everyone, especially our 3 grandchildren (ages 4, 2, 2) and has a BFF with my son’s Husky mix (also a rescue). Thanks again Tim for all your great work.

I had rescued a Husky that was out of time. They were going to euthanize her. I brought her home and my other female Husky kept trying to attack Timber. I started researching for the best Husky rescue. Shadow Husky Rescue was the one that was highly recommended. I made contact with Tim and within a couple of days I had potential adoptive parents. I met with them yesterday. Dave and Carole are such wonderful Husky lovers. We sat with Timber by the lake for a couple of hours. After talking to them, I knew they would be Timbers new parents. I found Timbers forever home because of Shadow Husky Rescue. They truly do care about what happens to these dogs. I'm so grateful to them.
When we saw Hurley’s sweet face on petfinder.com, we knew she was the one! I applied immediately and Tim from Shadow Husky Rescue reached out the next day and connected me with Hurley’s foster family. By the weekend I was able to meet the foster family and welcome Hurley into my home for her adoption trial. My daughter and I adopted a medical rescue, Layla, from Shadow Husky Rescue over 3 years ago and could not have been happier at the adoption process as well as how amazing Layla is. We enjoyed our adoption experience with Layla so much that we decided it was time to foster (and possibly adopt) a playmate for Layla. Shadow Husky Rescue did an amazing job helping us find the perfect husky for our family. We found an abandoned husky at our local dog park. She had just had puppies and was clearly still recovering from giving birth. We were turned down by every single rescue I had worked with previously, fostered for and adopted from. No one was willing to help us in return except Shadow Husky Rescue. They provided what they could to help when everyone else turned their backs on us. They helped us with her vet recommendations and guidance along the way. We were able to foster her through Shadow Husky Rescue. They were also able to find the perfect family to adopt the dog we put so much love and effort into saving together. Because of Shadow Husky Rescue she is now getting the life she’s always deserved. This is the most amazing rescue and I am most grateful to them.

In 2019 , I had no dogs. I found this beautiful German Shepherd that was lost. I reunited her with the owner. Afer that, we picked up a Husky that had epilepsy. Well, that was our first experience having a husky. So we decided to get a playmate for my boy Tyson.
Searching around, I seen a group called, Shadow Husky. Tim McVicker and Elizabeth McVicker just happened to have a husky that needed a rescue asap named Sam. Sam turned out to be an awesome dog. Tyson and Sam got along well, so Tim McVicker asked if we can foster a sweet boy that lost his leg from getting hit by a car. His name was Tres Leche, I didn't hesitate. I love animals and was willing to assist in any way.
Well, Tres Leche was a perfect match for Sam to play with and my big boy Tyson loved him. 8 hours later, we adopted Tres Leche.
Within two months, Tim McVicker messaged me about a husky named butch.
His mom was about to dump him in a kill shelter in San Jose. His stunning photos were memorizing. I thought, who could ever want to get rid of such an amazing husky. Well, we have Butch, Tres, and Sam. And a couple weeks ago we lost Tyson from epilepsy. That was devastating. I picked up another husky from Tim McVicker named Monte. He was 4 years old. He's been abused and he fit in like he needed to. Some dogs have an easy life, and some have to deal with abuse by humans that have no heart. Dogs don't know why or what they did. But when Tim McVicker rescues these beautiful dogs and gives them the home they deserve, these huskies become the happiest ever. I've seen Monte from being depressed to the happiest dog ever. Shadow Husky is the best. I judge not by the cover but bye the actions. Elizabeth and Tim McVicker are a great couple. They dedicated their lives to save huskies. This is more rewarding than the other things in life. I have never met either one of them but I love them.

I thank God everyday that I found Tim and Shadow Husky Rescue. I pulled Sasha from a kill shelter literally moments before she was to be put down. I’d seen her posted on Instagram and there was something about her..I couldn’t bare to let her be put down. Having 6 dogs as it is, I wasn’t able to keep her myself, but I also wasn’t sure how I was going to find her her forever home. Tim was extremely responsive, thorough and positive when I reached out. So much so, that only hours later, he let me know he’d found Sasha a home. She’s integrated beautifully and I couldn’t be happier for her. We were blessed with an amazing support system in Shadow Husky and Sasha is now home sweet home!! Thank you, Tim, for changing lives.

Shadow Husky Rescue helped us adopt our two girls, Ginny (red) and Bellatrix (black and white). They asked a lot of questions and for pictures of our yard to ensure that our home would be a perfect fit for the dogs. We adopted Bellatrix first and then decided that she needed a sister to keep her company. They were both owner surrenders and we couldn’t wrap our heads around why anyone would give up either of these sweet girls. We are so grateful to Tim and Liz for all of their help. I reached out to Shadow Husky Rescue after our husky of 15 years passed away. Tim and Liz were very helpful and thorough; they asked for a video of my perimeter and other stuff to ensure my dog was going to a good home. Tim went and picked up our dog, who we named Maisy, from the shelter and brought her to us to meet my children and allow us to foster her for a few days. They stayed in communication with us throughout the fostering period and were super helpful when it came to adopting. We could not imagine our life without Maisy and we’re so grateful to Shadow Husky Rescue for bringing her to us and for helping so many other dogs and families.

Adopting Millie was the smoothest process for us. We first saw her on shadow husky rescue Facebook page and reached out to Tim. He told us she was meeting with another potential adopter the next morning but would keep us posted. I can’t say enough about Shadow Husky. They took the time when no one else would and pulled a husky out of the shelter that caught my heart. They assumed liability because he had a medical condition/ injuries (that have been rectified) and allowed me time to come out of state for a drive back home. This is not a job for them but a true passion, I see the amount of huskies they pull and quite frankly I don’t understand how they have the mental stamina and physical energy to do so, but they get it done. Hi my name is Christina Martin,
I was on Facebook and notice Tim McVicker post these two bonded huskies name Yeti & Frosty that needed fostering or adoption with the video and pictures of these pups. I decided to reach out to Tim and informed him that I would be interested in fostering the two cute 9month old pups. Tim had line up a transporter to meet me in Pleasanton. Due to the factors
of these bonded pair being skittish it wold be a not good. Tim call me and arrange to drive from Carson Animal Shelter to Fort Bragg in Medocino County a 9.5 hour drive. When Tim arrived it took all his effort using a slip leash to transport both at individual time through my 6ft fenced gate. After a week fostering I have decided to adopt them which was a good match with other three huskies. It was a done deal and they have decompress quite well by me showing them lots of love and trust. My other huskies has helped alot for these two skittish bonded pair and now we are family. I absolutely love these two pups and the northern breed. I would highly recommend anyone that want to foster or adopt a husky to look up Tim McVicker at SHADOW HUSKY RESCUE with honor. I have been supporting this non profit for the past couple years because of all the amazing work that they do for huskies and northern breed dogs. I don’t have a husky of my own yet because I do not have the proper living environment to care for one but I want to eventually adopt a husky from them in the future when I get property with land. I recently did a virtual wine fundraiser with Shadow Husky thorough One Hope winery and it went extremely well! So many people want to support and help them! Tim and Liz have such big hearts and do as much as they can for the pups. I’ve had the privilege to talk to a few people that have adopted from them and all they have are genuine, kind and supportive words for Liz, Tim and Shadow Husky! They are so thankful that Liz and Tim have been able to find them new lifelong furry friends.

We had the absolute pleasure of fostering 2 huskies for Shadow Husky Rescue! They worked tirelessly to save a mother and daughter bonded pair together. They are the most caring and dedicated rescue I have ever worked with. They were with me every step of the way. Penelope and Cookie are still together because of Shadow Husky Rescue.
After our dog passed away, we went online just to see what was available. I typed in husky rescue near me and Shadow Husky Rescue came up. I looked at the available dogs snd saw Star and fell in love with her. We had a meet snd greet and immediately we fell in love with her. She’s now been with us a week and she’s adjusting beautifully. We take her on long walks, play with her. She sleeps in our bed. We couldn’t love her more. Shadow Husky Rescue has been wonderful the whole adoption process. When we are ready we will definitely go through them again . Wonderful experience after losing our other husky.
After going through a not-so-great experience with a previous rescue organization, my family and I were reluctant to continue doing what we love—fostering animals. I’m happy to say, after following Shadow Husky Rescue on social media for about a year before actually fostering for them, it was the best choice for us because not only did we they restore our trust in working with a rescue, but we added a member to our family through them. I have been very active in Rescue, as a volunteer and as an admin, and have dealt with many exceptionally fine people. From my experience, Shadow Husky Rescue is on a pedestal by itself. To begin, they are one of the few husky rescues I know of who accepts owner surrenders. This in itself is HUGE: it keeps sensitive dogs out of pounds, helps good people who are struggling, and allows for many dogs with less trauma than those who end up at the pound. (Any place that kills animals is NOT a "shelter", which is defined as a place of safety). These folks seem to be tireless: always on the go, always saving dogs. I adopted an epileptic dog from them in 2020. I adored him, but ran into health problems that would endanger us both if he had seizures. In hopes of a quick recovery, Shadow Husky accepted him back into their foster program; and when my recovery was questionable, they found the perfect home for him. I miss him like crazy, but I am overjoyed that he has a wonderful family now. Unlike many other rescues that are always trolling for money (and ALL need money!) they do not post about how many dogs they've saved; they are too busy saving more. On a scale of 1-10, Shadow Husky Rescue is an 11.

Within moments of initially reaching out, Tim responded to me and provided me the information I needed to get the ball rolling on my sweet girl's adoption. It was a well-thought out, methodical process that made me feel like the organization truly cares and is focused on adopting out to individuals families that are well-equipped and prepared to care for a dog.
Jason, the foster who was caring for our girl at the time, was also very responsive and we were able to do a meet & greet on the same day. He was accommodating & communicative, and we were welcomed into his home by both the humans and the pups he has.
After finalizing the adoption, Liz reached out and provided all medical records for our keeping, and we were able to easily transfer the chip to our contact information.
The shelter that our dog was surrendered to also had amazing volunteers that connected with our family, which speaks volumes of the relationships that the shelters have with Tim's organization.
All parties involved in the rescue, foster, & adoption have remained in contact with me - we didn't just gain a new pupper, but some new friends, too.
I couldn't be more pleased with the process, and the love, care, & attention that this organization gives to its dogs and those that want to open their homes to newly rescued family members. We are so happy with the entire experience, and we are smitten with our new girl. She's our missing piece!
Tim McVicker and his wife Are fantastic. They put so much time and effort into rescuing huskies and saving their lives. The little bit I can do to help is only a small portion of what they do. I love fostering these husky babies and I’m always happy when they find a good home. It’s so rewarding.
Just want to Thanks Shadow Husky Rescue Inc. for bringing Yuma into my life. After fostering Yuma for afew days and his main adopters dropping out , We formed the strongest bond and knew I HAD to adopt him myself.
I am so happy that I found Shadow Husky Rescue! We have two dogs and one of them wasn’t doing so good, so we were looking for a new companion for our younger dog. During our search we found Shadow Husky Rescue and fell in love with a husky who unfortunately was no longer available, but we kept in contact with the rescue and they eventually found us Max! Max was the perfect fit for our family and is such a special boy. This rescue is amazing and I am so happy that I was able to work with them to find my family the perfect rescue.
The best ive ever worked with to adopte my baloo from them not only saved his life but my and snowbells who lost her pack from age they went out of there way to help me get him but when im ready again i well always go to tim him and his wife have saved hunders of these sweet bays that would have died god bless them
I have donated monthly(not much) for about 3 yrs and it is an amazing job they do to rescue Dogs/Huskies and get them to trust and love again so they can be adopted into their forever homes.They are really great at keeping in touch about dogs we have pledged for and they have saved so many dogs that were out of hope and time. I believe they should be in the top charities , Thank you

I am continuously blown away by the efforts and compassion Shadow Husky Rescue has diligently shown weekly in the saving of so many lives and in finding very deserving dogs families to love them. They are "on call" pretty much 24/7 and through their connections and networks by all avenues - are literally saving dog's lives daily !!! I so appreciated this dedicated Rescue and since I do not live locally where this rescue operates - I try to follow, share and donate as much as I can to people that are doing the work and saving deserving animal's lives. Shadow Husky Rescue works hard and is amazing with their huskies. Shadow Husky rescued a wooly husky from Carson Animal Shelter when I fostered a dog. I fell in love and ended up adopting him. Shadow Husky communicates quickly and really takes care of all their dogs!

I totally believe in what Shadow Husky does. Not only do they rescue these amazing dogs from the shelters and give them medical help if needed, but they are also great at assessing what these highly energetic but lovable animals need as a match and make that match. Not only do they foster and adopt out, but they keep track of all the furbabies so that if for some reason something changes, the dogs go back to Shadow Husky, keeping them out of high kill shelters. These rescues are all their babies. A couple of years past they rescued what I believe was an owner surrender that was much older than the normal age of dogs in the shelter. they loved him and kept him healthy until I was in a position to adopt and thus Marshall came into my life. He was overweight which was a result of a nonfunctioning thyroid. Now that we have that fixed, it is fun to watch him be the dog he was meant to be along with being able to guess what he experienced in his previous life; e.g., he HATES to get his nails trimmed. It absolutely petrifies him, but he trusts us enough to grit his teeth so we can do it. We have a total of three rescued Huskies. First picture, Jax, Rainier and Marshall, pictures 2 and 3 are Marshall. He still has a way to go in losing weight, be he's doing remarkably well.
