Nonprofit Overview

Mission: IMAGINE A CALIFORNIA WHERE PEOPLE LOVE THEIR NEIGHBORS. What would our state be like if instead of responding to poverty, brokenness, hate, and second chances with fear and neglect, we chose compassion and hope? Would it be contagious if a group of Californians could turn their values into actions, and follow the example Jesus set by truly caring for others? Serving California is a foundation committed to the possibility that we can build a community of empathy for those who are struggling and provide them with resources to transcend their situations. Our programs place a special emphasis on ex-offenders who want to rebuild their lives, crime victims and veterans and their families. We support a network of exceptional partner organizations by providing funding and other management resources to assist them in creating and expanding high quality, solution-based, transformational programs. We serve as a catalyst and capacity-builder for work that promotes rehabilitation and transformation in the lives of inmates who are committed to becoming productive, contributing citizens. We also support healing and recovery for those who have experienced crime and provide care and restoration for veterans who have served our nation.

I've been able to see 2 different ways Serving California has made a dramatic impact in the lives of people in California and all over the country. First, I was able to experience a graduation of veterans that had gone through an intensive physical and spiritual rehabilitation week. Men from all over shared stories of their past struggles and how Serving California and Mighty Oaks have helped them gain perspective, clarity, and vision for the future. The second area I have seen Serving California was through a fundraiser done to support women who have gone through drug, alcohol, or physical abuse. Hearing these women sing, and look at their art, pointed to the power of the Gospel and the programs set up and enabled through Serving California.

I can safely say that the folks over at Serving California are the real deal.

They aim to save lives and their work extends to such a wide array of networks. From veterans, to domestic violence victims, current and former inmates, there is no person that they cannot and will not reach out to.

I follow them on Facebook and am consistently touched on their thoughtful and professional social media presence. Their posts regularly are uplifting and it's so great to see an organization so committed to making a difference in the community.
