Mission: CharityFocus is an experiment in the joy of giving. It is an experiment that is working. Our idea is to create small miracles, to be an instrument of that inspiration, and to celebrate the gift of service. Our tool is the World Wide Web.

We are volunteers who build websites for nonprofits; we are empowering NPO's with the power of the web to help them better serve their communities. In that sense, we are helping the helpers of the world. By bringing the talents of the technology world to the nonprofit sector, we not only give a boost to the traditionally resource-stricken nonprofits but equally importantly, also provide a very unique opportunity for volunteers to increase the charity in their lives. Whether it is a mom returning to the workforce by doing some technical work remotely, a student enhancing his/her skill set and gaining experience, or a technology worker wanting to do charitable work, we give them a vehicle to experience the joy of selflessness.

No one can measure the joy of helping a blind person cross the street, of watching an old man finish a marathon, or of making a young kid smile. But it's there, it's undeniable, and it's unparalleled. Such small miracles of life are testimonials to the undying spirit of mankind.

In an environment of relentless selfish pursuits, it is easy to be distracted away from the basic joys of life but helping another, just for the sake of helping, lets us reconnect. And to that journey, we started CharityFocus in April 1999.

We don't know where we will be in two months, two years, or two decades from now. However, we do know that we will strive to help with humility, act with compassion, and inspire with action.
