ServeHaiti has been a very successful non-profit in terms of how it effectively uses its funds and how it makes an impact on the community of Grand Bois. Most donor money goes directly to supporting local people, projects, and needs, with only a small percentage used for administrative expenses. The Board is also a wonderful group of dedicated folks who volunteer lots of their own time and care a lot about this organization!
I love how ServeHaiti not only works in providing clean water and healthcare to the Grand Bois area, but also how they empower the Haitian people with things like small business loans and teacher training. I have truly appreciated how everyone, no matter the skill level or expertise, can find a niche and place to help. The dedication and passion that every volunteer I've encountered has, has far exceeded any expectations. I am so proud to be able to give to this excellent organization.
The efforts of the volunteers and the outpouring of support by the attendees, made the 2018 Midwest fund raiser the best yet.
I first traveled to Grand Bois with
ServeHAITI in 2014 and the experienced changed my life. ServeHaiti empowers the community to better themselves by helping provide the resources that enable them to do so.
I first learned about Serve Haiti from a friend who had been to Gran Bois What he had to say inspired me to want to volunteer. Probably one of the best decisions of my life This is such a co-operative venture between the locals and the volunteers. The Haitian people I met really want to help themselves not just get something for free. This organization works extremely hard to make every donation go as far as possible. There is very little overhead and most volunteers are so impressed they can't help but continue to support this wonderful organization . Probably the best non-profit I've ever seen
I've been involved with Serve Haiti since 2016. This organization works tirelessly to improve the lives of the people in the Grand Bois region of Haiti by providing health care, clean water, small business loans, and education (to name just a few!). Serve Haiti is life changing for both the people it serves and its volunteers!
I have had the privilege of traveling to Grand Bois with ServeHAITI twice. The first time I was able to travel with my two daughters in 2016, and in 2018 I went with my son. I'm hoping the next trip I make my husband will be able to go with me. The work that the Haitian people are able to accomplish with so few resources is phenomenal. I love the philosophy of solidarity that ServeHaiti has. It is truly a blessing to have been able to work alongside of some of the strongest, most creative, most loving people on this earth!
I started volunteering with ServeHAITI in 2013 and the experience has changed my life in significant ways. The organization opened up my eyes to the beautiful Haitian culture and community of Grand-Bois and provided an opportunity to make a difference through volunteering. The work ServeHAITI does in solidarity with the people of Grand-Bois is vital to the health and well-being of the community and surrounding areas - over 70,000 residents. My experience with ServeHAITI has spanned the areas of healthcare, water, education, and economic development. The non-profit's programs actively address a cross-section of issues affecting the community. ServeHAITI has a working board and strong volunteers that are active in Haiti and stateside.
My husband and I have been involved with ServeHAITI for the past 5 years but have known of its impact in the Grand-Bois area for many years. This organization is committed to empowering Haitians to grow small businesses, improve health practices, create quality water systems, and improve education opportunities through teacher training. We are honored to be part of this amazing organization that offers a hand up and not a hand out for the rural people of Grand-Bois!
I have made two trips to Haiti with ServeHaiti. The first in 2010 and the second in 2018. This is an AMAZING group. Both trips were well organized, and such awesome learning experiences for me. On the second trip, I even brought my adult daughter along. The staff is professional, caring and eager to help. I love ServeHaiti ♡
Attended a volunteer trip with ServeHaiti in 2011 and continue to support through fundraising efforts. Wonderful organization committed to making a true microcosm of change focused on holistically helping the people of Grand Bois through healthcare, education, clean water, and economic opportunities.
I have been a volunteer with ServeHAITI since 2002 when I took my first trip to Grand-Bois. Meeting the wonderful people of this area in the mountains of Haiti has truly changed my life!! Knowing these beautiful and faith-filled people have existed for years without any health care, any access to water filtration, or hope for their children suffering from malnutrition, gave all of us the determination to make things happen for Grand-Bois.
Fast forward to 2018; we have a full-time Health Center that is operating 24/7 staffed with Haitian medical workers, we have over 5000 water filtration systems out in the community in homes, we have been able to build over 5 wells in the region, and we have a malnutrition center that has operated for the past eight years treating children with severe malnutrition, we have trained over 73 schools' teachers, and we have an organization called SHecon that provides entrepreneurial training to folks to help them start businesses (WHEW)!! Everything ServeHAITI does take into consideration the people, the economy, and anything that may do harm to the region! We work with the people of Grand-Bois to achieve a better life for them.
What has happened in Grand-Bois is truly miraculous and is due to ServeHAITI's wonderful donators, supporters, volunteers, and those whose brilliant minds saw the vision. I feel extremely blessed to be a small cog in this wheel and hope to continue seeing even more in the years to come!
I have had the opportunity to work with ServeHAITI in Grand Bois and from afar. I am truly inspired by the dedicated volunteers I have had the pleasure to meet and learn from.
The people of Grand Bois are of the utmost importance and ServeHAITI helps to really bring the community together. Dr. Leo is an inspiration, as he leads the way in Grand Bois.
The sacrafices so many volunteers make to help is something I have never been a part of before and I could not be more proud to be a part of this.
I have been a volunteer with this organization for almost 20 years, and their commitment to true community collaboration is unparalleled! They also have a passion for sustainability and local empowerment. They have fantastic relationships with their Haitian partners and truly care about making culturally sensitive programming successful. They integrate their programs well between health, nutrition, and water security.
Since my first trip to Haiti in 2012 to visit the ServeHAITI medical clinic, I have been extremely impressed by the dedicated medical staff on the ground in Grand Bois and the behind the scenes people that help make it run. Grand Bois is in a very remote area of Haiti so without the medical clinic the people of Grand Bois would have to travel great distances over very rough terrain to receive medical attention or they would just go without. Not only does the clinic provide medical services, but it works with the people in the area to provide preventative treatments such as water filtration systems for clean water and medical mawmba for malnourished children. Most recently the area experienced a cholera epidemic and without quick access to the clinic many people would have surely died. That is a real impact!!!
In a country where many nonprofits brag about numbers and short term results, ServeHaiti sets itself apart by having established itself as a permanent resource in a rural, Haitian community. Building off of the reputation of the St. Vincent de Paul clinic staffed entirely by Haitian professionals, ServeHaiti has been able to assist in local development from public health, education, infrastructure and industry. I first visited Gran Bois in 2013. The people and community stole my heart. I am encouraged by the improvements in quality of life that I see with each subsequent visit.
I have been involved with ServHaiti since 2011. My wife always told me stories about her friends in Haiti and the impact of this organization. I didn’t get it until I went and now I can never not be involved. I am proud to have made lifelong friends in Grand Bois, Haiti and am excited to be with an organization that works hand in hand with the people. No matter your skill set, ServeHAITI has something for everyone to get involved to make a difference. It is inspiring to see an organization fueled by volunteers and people who have such a passion for this work.
I worked with teachers identified by the schools in the Grand Bois area to improve instruction in health, math, science, social studies, and reading. We helped provide classroom furniture, manipulatives and basic school supplies so that Haitian teachers had the materials they needed to help students learn. We provided several weeks of teacher inservice for over 10 years using the medical clinics multipurpose room as our learning space. I was one of many teachers who volunteered to work with the Haitian teachers. I was amazed at the incredible reception and gratitude we experienced over the many years of training. I looked forward each year to returning and meeting my friends in grand Bois! I learned so much from my Haitian peers about appreciating the blessings you have and living thru adversity!
It was bit after the big earthquake in Haiti that I learned about ServeHAITI. First I thought, this organization is one of the other 10,000 NGOs. After meeting with the members of ServeHAITI in the states and meeting with the employees at the clinic and the residents in Grand-Bois, Haiti... I learned ServeHAITI is actually making a huge impact to the community... since 2001!!!
ServeHAITI is community centric and built their relationships with the people in Grand-Bois, it is part of Grand-Bois and their lives. A small (or a huge) contribution - whether you stay in the U.S. or visit the clinic in Haiti - can make a profound and significant impact to the lives of Grand-Bois and that is what has been making me continue to be part of ServeHAITI since 2012. It is so previous to see the smile and the happiness of the people, especially the kids, of Grand-Bois!
I took my first trip to Grand-Bois with ServeHAITI in 2006 and absolutely fell in love with the people and the region. I've continued to be involved with this organization because of their approach to working with the community. Their strategy is community-centric and rooted in collaboration and they understand that good development work happens when trust is established and meaningful relationships are made. When basic needs are met, it's amazing what people can do. ServeHAITI is an amazing family and I'm proud to play a small part.
Volunteering at the health clinic in Grand-Bois was the most fullfilling experience. Witnessing what can be done with so little was more of a benefit for me than anything I gave during my trip. The organization has changed the lives of community; what a lesson on what can be accomplished when people live their mission. I made great friends, had fun and loved getting to know new Haitian friends.
