Drove 6 hours to visit Serenity saviors equine rescue & therapy center! well worth the trip!! Allen & Cherina are dedicated, compassionate & tireless people who love their horses and their community! Not only do they care for their horses but help others to learn, recover & save countless equines who would end up at slaughter houses! For their community, they offer young horse advocates an opportunity to care, ride & learn riding skills for these well trained horses who were considered throw away horse. Also help people who suffer from mental illness and PTSD symptoms to our veterans. They are a wonderful couple and certainly deserve the recognition of their program.
This was the only rescue willing to take in a horse when I could only pay half his bail. Because of this organization, this horse was saved from being sent to a slaughterhouse. They picked up the other half of the bail, all his vetting, farrier work, and he is now with them and gaining weight back.
The commitment they have to their community, neighbors, the horses and the much needed help for people who suffer from illnesses or perhaps confidence issues. Horses are a great avenue for healing to people who would otherwise to be limited to medications and medical facilities! Horses are not unlike other animals who contribute to the well being of people and serve as ambassadors, or therapy which is the work Serenity Saviors thrives. Its very apparent when you attend an event or join a class the care, knowledge, understanding, and compassion Mr.& Mrs. Bornscheuer have for their horses and community. They not only promote therapy with horses, they also save, rehabilitate rescued horses who would otherwise end up in horrible slaughterhouses. It's a win, win for horses and people too. They have loving hearts of all animals to include the dogs they rescued as well. Wonderful people all around.

This couple definitely cares for each and every one of these horses as if they were their very own. The care and dedication they give to their saved horses is evident from every aspect of the business.

From the first time I followed them online to my recent in-person visit a few days ago, I have always seen the unwavering love and passion Allen and Cherina have for the horses and donkeys they save and care for. I call them "The Animal Saviors" because they go the extra mile to care for the animals they love so much. They work extra jobs, they teach riding and driving lessons, they sacrifice what most of just take for granted, and they simply never stop working! They put everything they have into their mission. I am utterly amazed at their dedication and drive. They are very kind, giving, loving people who will give the shirts off their backs for someone in need.
I am extremely disappointed in the way that a certain (small) group of people are treating them online and in person. Allen and Cherina are being stalked, harassed, false Sheriff reports (4 times to date)made, and the properties where they are temporarily keeping their horses are being trespassed upon repeatedly. These lowlifes "take pictures at angles to intentionally make the horses look underweight, but we are onto them" per the Pasco County Sheriffs Office. Every single time there has been a FALSE allegation of abuse, the Pasco or Hernando County Sheriffs inspect the properties and horses and rule the allegations UNFOUNDED. They have all spontaneously OFFERED to testify on behalf of Allen and Cherina as to their care. Their vet, trainer, body work specialist, PhD psychologist, and other experienced equine professionals all have written glowing reports on their care, as they have also seen first hand their commitment to caring for their animals. It is unreal what levels these losers will sink to! Instead of helping them care for the animals by donating money or items they need, or paying for feed and grain at their feed store, they stalk, bash and harass them ruthlessly (both personally and professionally).
Allen and Cherina may have had some financial challenges in the past (who hasn't?), but will NEVER, EVER eat before the horses and donkeys are fed. They are in a temporary living situation 100% BECAUSE this small group of haters ganged up on them and lied to not only the public about them, but also the people who purchased their farm when Allen and Cherina needed a helping hand. These despicable bottom feeders want to take Serenity's horses under the guise of Allen and Cherina neglecting them. This is the furthest thing from the truth! Allen, Cherina and Serenity Saviors will always have my support and should definitely have yours as well! ~ Nida
Absolute wonderful things happen at Serenity Saviors.
I’ve seen first hand the great things they do, from rehabilitation of neglected horse to the therapy provided with children suffering from Autism. They also provide therapy for our Wounded Veterans with their horses. A horse is a special animal and are wonderful therapy animals.

The horse in their care have 100% of their needs met and have an outstanding staff of volunteers that love the horse as if they were their own.
I have been a volunteer at Serenity since February 2019. I worked at the barn every Wednesday bathing and grooming horses. You get to see the quality of care and health of horses when you bathe and attend them. Without exception, all the horses had healthy coats, bright, clear eyes, and of good weight. The emotional health of the horses was evident also. They stood confidently in the shower stall, no drama, took direction well and generally enjoyed their bath. When finished , they would let me lead them out into the grass, where my favorite part of the day began: Standing in the sun with a freshly bathed horse while he/she grazed quietly. The blue sky above, a light breeze blowing and a horse slowly drying and beginning to shine and glisten in the sun. A sense of well being enveloped me and I thanked God, once again, for leading me to this holy, sacred place.
This place has gone down hill. They have been evicted from that place and are now not feeding the horses as good as they should be. They are so thin. Over crowded at their current place.
The woman who runs this program is amazing! She has such a kind,giving,compassionate heart and absoltuley loves what she does!
I have not adopted because I have too many Saddlebreds of my own but I have followed their work and met Allan when he transported a horse from my farm to the new home in FL. They do great work and are extremely caring and rehab very debilitated horses with excellent results.

We have helped Serenity Saviors by donating to save one of their horses from slaughter. Our daughter has since attended horse camp and volunteers her time to help take care of the horses and donkeys at Serenity. She has found her calling with the help of Cherina and Allen and all the lovely horses. They go above and beyond with the love and care they offer all the horses and donkeys no matter what condition they are in when arriving at their home.
After the loss of my gelding, I was searching for the right horse for my family. I came across Serenity Saviors by reading about other's experiences in adopting from this rescue. I am amazed at the dedication and passion of Cherina and Allen and how they help the horses. Serenity gives their rescues a chance where otherwise they may not have been given one. I adopted Dixie, a spotted saddle horse from Serenity and she has been a wonderful addition to my family. We were fortunate to adopt a sweet saddlebred gelding through Serenity Saviors this past spring. Remmington was saved from a kill pen by these good folks. After 5 months of kindness and nurturing and some 300 lbs he came to live with us in GA. It is hard to imagine how this gentle, eager to please guy fell on his fate but he got another chance to live. Now he has a safe, comfortable home to belong to from now on. We were surprised and totally impressed that Cherina brought him to us in spite of all the busy things going on at her stables. She gave me great advice on everything from conscientious stable management to taming my ornery donkey. Her commitment to this mission is remarkable! We support Serenity Saviors on a regular basis and encourage other horse lovers to join in.
Serenity Saviors works everyday to surpass its mission to save horses, ponies and donkeys from at risk situations. The staff is beyond committed to ensuring each barn resident is treated as an individual and given love, time and space to become all that it is capable of being. Hats off to this organization, their directors, volunteers, students, and especially the horses.
I’ve known the owners of Serenity Saviors for several years. I participate as a donor and in fundraising events with Serenity and a couple other equine saving groups. This is by far the most professionally operated and accountable group I know. They do it right! The level of caring and hard work by Cherina and Allen is incredible. They are so dedicated to “saving two”-a horse and a human. The equine assisted therapy-especially for veterans-is a real gift to our world. I am also a mental health professional trained in equine assisted psychotherapy so love that they use horses to heal.
Although I have not visited Serenity-Saviors, I have been following them on Facebook and communicating through Messenger. These folks have a heart for the unloved and cast-asides that is immeasurable!!! Cherina not only meets, and exceeds, the physical and medical needs of God creations, she overcomes the emotional damage these animals bear with so much love, they can’t help but heal. She gives each “baby” her whole heart and then brings in others, of all ages and abilities, to provide extra love and social support. Somehow, while sharing all her love and life with these animals, around the clock, she still finds time to answer questions and communicate with those who support her mission whether through prayer, donations, or volunteering. I hope to someday be one who does all three!!!!

I got to know Cherina from Serenity Saviours when I was looking for a ride for my American Saddlebred newly purchased; from his birth farm in Virginia. It was in December-early January and cold up there. It was a long ride back to Florida and no commercial carrier would go to where he was; it was remote. Cherina heard of my plight and offered to go pick him up for a fair price when her partner was out picking up and delivering rescue horses in the area. It was a rough ride with winter weather and some unexpected hang ups; but he came to me safely; and since then I have become friends with her and Allan. I drew a portrait of a horse she had as a rescue a few years back she loved dearly, for part of the trip charge; who had passed from a freak accident. She loved it and her response to the picture and her continued love for this horse showed me how deeply she loves her rescue horses. They save allot of them - mostly American Saddlebreds; a nearly forgotten breed in our country; once the "Peacock of the Show Ring". Most go to Amish as buggy horses; or something similarly difficult; if they don't make it as a top of the line show prospect; which usually only one or two a breeding season will from any big breeding operation. Most Americans simply don't realize their Versatility because they were over promoted as Super show horses for so long. Only that small part of society, (Saddle Seat show people); pay much attention to them anymore. Her rescue mostly saves horses that have been on the road pulling Amish buggies on macadam...which being designed for cars; is too hard on their feet and joints and breaks them down quickly. Amish aren't sentimental about horses; they are vehicles only; and send them to kill pens for slaughter money when they aren't up to the job. Cherina and her rescue save them when they are still able to be great personal horses; and need a friend. She feeds them to health again; vets them and cares for their minds and spirits; and then finds young kids and happy adults to work with them. She lets them help others too in her therapy mission. She is a wonderful woman and she and Allan fill a much needed role in the rescue world; and are a credit to that profession and our equine community here in Florida.
Outstanding nonprofit! They truly help those without a voice. They make decisions based on the animals will to survive vice what others may suggest. The health and well being of their animals are of upmost importance. They work tireless day and night to help them. I will be adopting a horse from them when the time comes for mine to leave this world.
I'm with the organization called Equusolutions. Serenity Saviors, is the nonprofit organization that provides the therapy horses to our equine clients. We have been very successful with the rate of recovery of our clients in part due to this wonderful facilities efforts and the rescue horses they provide to us, for our clients.
Each one of our clients on more than one occasion has stated that this is one of the best facilities that they have ever been associated with while working with us. I agree.

I sadly found myself in a situation that forced me to make the difficult & heartbreaking decision to surrender my horses. I checked out rescue after rescue and although 2 were willing to take my horses, after talking with the people running those rescues it just didn't feel right. Something was missing, something felt off. So I decided to keep looking and to keep praying for the right one to show up. Enter Serenity Saviors! I can not say enough wonderful things about this rescue. I talked with Cherina and Allen on the phone and immediately felt a sense of relief and peace of mind come over me. I knew almost immediately that they were the ones that I could trust my beautiful babies with. It is apparent to anyone who is paying attention that these two kind & beautiful souls have hearts of gold and have compassion for not only the horses but for people as well. My horses have been at SS for over a month now. And although I miss them tremendously, I couldn't be happier for them. They are being well taken care of in all aspects as well as truly loved by their new mom & dad. I know if they end up being adopted, that the adoptive home will have been checked out thoroughly by SS and I will be comfortable knowing that their new home will be a great home. ( shhhh I am hoping they stay at SS ;) ) I have not had one regret, one inkling of doubt, one worry about any of them since they arrived there. I will never be able to thank them enough for helping me thru a rough time. They not only have shown my horses compassion but have had the utmost compassion for me and my situation also. This world needs more people like Cherina and Allen, more rescues like Serenity Saviors. Thank you to all of the volunteers at SS also! 5 STARS all the way, 10 if that was an option.
I would hands down recommend this rescue to any one. Weather adopting, or taking lessons, even volunteering. What they do to help this horses is amazing. The time, care, patience and love is strong. The helped me, with my anxiety and depression. Before I started saddle seat lessons, I was constantly feeling bouts of Depression, but after spending time with these horses it's been a lot easier on me. They not only wanna help save these beautiful animals but also help people as well. They are amazing in everything they do!!
Extraordinary people run this exotridnary place. Cherina and Alan care for the “residents” of serenity stables with their entire heart and soul.
These folks are not only very dedicated, but they are both experienced horsemen. When dealing with horses, you need that particular combination to ensure proper care and placement of your charges. They work tirelessly to rescue and place their horses and they often use their rescues in smaller horse shoes to encourage adoptions and bring attention to the Saddlebreds that they rescue. They also trailer horses throughout the country, thus helping many other rescued horses reach their destinations safely and quickly. Time is often of the essence where rescues are concerned and I have never seen Cherina and Allen hesitate to assist, when there is a need. We are very fortunate to have them in the state of Florida.

I am proud to support Serenity Saviors. They are so appreciative of everything you do for them, as well as every dollar donated. I have personally seen them step up for many horses that would have gone to slaughter. In addition, they are knowledgeable horse people who know how to rehab abused and neglected horses and then place them in appropriate homes.
I contacted Serenity Saviors seeking a safe haven for two bonded older horses who seemed destined for the kill pen. I did a great deal of research to find a true "rescue" organization dedicated to the welfare of the horse. After several conversations with Allen and Cherina I was convinced that these were knowledgeable horse people who were sympathetic to the rescue situation, and to my considerable relief and gratitude the horses moved to Serenity. I am impressed with the variety of opportunities Allen and Cherina make available to veterans, children and adults with special abilities, lessons, fun shows, rescue runs, rehoming efforts, fundraising and regular communications. As a lifelong horse person, I know that this time is in addition to the demands of taking excellent care of the horses in their charge, many of them older and in stages of rehabilitation. This is a remarkable organization!
I have adopted several horses from serenity saviors and have had nothing but great experiences! The passion and care they put into these horses are admirable. Not many people walk the walk. But here I can definitely say that what they say they will do and go above and beyond to safe a horse and help a human also! It's is such an honor to know this organisation and be directly linked to them through my horses.

I joined Allen and Cherina At Serenity Saviours Horse Rescue as a volunteer in August this year after moving from the U.K. I cannot praise them highly enough for the commitment and dedication to these mostly rescue horses. Often nursing them back to full health and finding them their forever homes. If I could give Serenity Saviors 5 million stars I would. Both Cherina and Allen are amazing people who have the biggest heart's. My daughter Michaela started her love of horses when she was about 2 years old, like most little girls she just wanted to ride horses, when she turned 6 years old she received the greatest gift from her Auntie, a gift certificate for riding lessons. We went around to a lot of the local farms only to be turned away, because 6 year olds don't have the attention span or dedication for riding and caring for horses. Well we found Serenity they welcomed us with open arms. Michaela was a very shy, quiet introverted little girl that would hide behind Mommy and Daddy. Cherina and Allen have both worked with and has shown Michaela that she is a smart, talented, confident and strong little lady who can do anything she sets her mind too. I do not have the words to describe what they have done for us...

I have had the opportunity to work with Serenity Saviors on occasions, and find them to be exceptional in their love of and care for equine.
Serenity Saviors transported my rescue from NC to FL in a nice big comfy trailer equipped with camera to monitor how he was handling the ride. Cherina and Allen sent me these pics and updates during the trip to let me know how he was doing. They treat every horse with the TLC you would expect if you were transporting a show horse:-)
I am a volunteer who has been going to Serenity for almost a year now. I have been going to assist myself with military PTSD. I was recommended to me to find animals to work with to help with copping with my disability. I contacted Cherina through a friend and explained what my disability was and the recommendations I had received and she was more than willing to have me come out and help. Since then I have gotten to know her and her family as well as all the horses very well. I have watched young children come and advance in their riding since they started. They care so much for the animals located there as well as all their volunteers and guest that come to see the farm and the horses. I feel if it was not for the friendship that I have gained from Serenity I am not sure if I would able to cope with my PTSD as well as I do today.
We adopted a horse from a kill pen last year and requested a name of a hauler to transport her to SC. Allen Bornscheuer from Serenity Saviors was the person recommended to haul her to us. Although we had a vet check done and all the necessary paperwork for traveling across state lines, we had to wait 2 weeks before he was able to pick her up. Allen went to the facility to pick up our mare in June and contacted me immediate noting her terrible condition. He refused to leave her there as she had an upper respiratory infection and he knew if he left her she would not get the proper care or treatment she needed. He sent pictures and a video to show me what condition she was in so I could contact the kill pen owners, who obviously said they didn’t care. Serenity Saviors took charge took her to a stable to be quarantined and treated, as he was not able to bring her directly to the 4H Barn she was scheduled to be boarded at. After a month of treatment she was able to proceed to the 4H boarding barn. I cannot say enough about Serenity Saviors, their dedication to not just adopt out a horse but the concern they showed in making sure our mare was given the proper care and treatment she needed. If you are considering adoption for a horse, please consider Serenity Saviors, they not only take great care in adopting horses they recuse but in all horses who have been rescued and in need.

Serenity Saviors transported my rescued horse from NC to FL safely and with TLC. They sent photo updates (pics shown) during the trip to let me know he was doing ok. Cherina and Allen took care of my young rescue as you would expect a show horse during transport. I highly recommend them.
Serenity Saviors is a Florida based Equine Rescue and the Saviors are the horses they help, all at the end of the line , with no place to go but to end their lives in a slaughter house , this rescue is fighting day after day , week in week out to save as many lives as they can , The Mighty American Saddlebreds are their special horse but they step up and help each and all ! from the smallest Donkey to the large Drafts all are cared for as if they were the most valuable equine in the world , as I Stated the American Saddlebred is their special Breed most of them are former Amish Buggy Horses, when they can no longer work the long hard hour's they are replaced with new younger horses and they most often are sent to auction , scared worn out, sick , dirty , and most are sent right to the kill pens !! The Rescue's are there trying with all their might to help save as many as possible ! and Serenity Saviors are there, alway there, they help the Saddlebred taking these Horses home and healing them , retraining them , rehoming them giving them a new purpose and finding them forever home's, I have watched Chernia and Alan work magic with the horses , taking living beings that had given up and had no hope left , to horse's racing round and round, playing, bucking , happy to be alive ! and knowing someone cares for them, that someone is Chernia and Alan, Serenity Saviors .
I have nothing but appreciation admiration Serenity savers!! Not only did they save my Sweet Caroline AKA Lina from Slaughter but they transported her to their Farm in Florida.. got her all nice and healthy and then they transported her all the way West Oregon!! They are truthful and honest and you know what's going on with your horse at all times. If anybody is considering adoption for a horse, please consider Serenity saviors for your adoption needs and transport!! You will NOT be disappointed!!
Almost a year ago a skinny aged Saddlebred gelding came across my feed being offered for sale from a broker program. If not sold during his aloud timeframe he would be shipped to slaughter. Something about his defeated look and the description given by one of the volunteers there at the sale as to being just a sweetheart spoke to me. I offered if funds could be raised I would give this guy a home. This was my first contact with Cherina at Serenity when she offered to help raise the funds to get this forelore gelding now known as Oscar a forever home in Kentucky. I'd seen and I think I had donated to Serenity in the past but never really had worked personally with them until rescuing Oscar. They were awesome to work with from the initial securing funds for Oscar,to helping find a quarantine to his transport to Kentucky. Over the last year I've continued to follow and help when I can all the good work they do at their rescue. They continue to help rescue,rehab and home previously unwanted horses along with educating the public to the issue of slaughter bound horses.
I first came across Serenity Stables 8 years ago when my daughter went there for riding lessons. More than just how to ride she learned what it takes to care for and understand the needs a horse has. She experienced how to connect with them and the love they give in return. Because of the hands on education and mentoring she had we now have 2 horses of our own. One neglected and starved the other abused and head shy. Now those two beautiful horses are rehabilitated physically & emotionally. The two horses and my daughter are able to pass along some of that love & mentorship taught by the example of what is now Serenity Saviors. It is such a blessing to see Allen & Cherina through their hard work & love allow horses to have a second chance. We are forever grateful!
You won't find more a qualified or dedicated team. I've worked on this farm and can tell you first hand that Allen and Cherina are professional and heartfelt in the level of love and care for horses - especially those who have been given a second chance. Whether for boarding, lessons, showing or saving/transport, Serenity is your best choice!
I have known Cherina and her husband for several years now, and adopted my first saddlebred from them. I ended up adopting three horses in total and now fostering one. We have been in constant contact and became friends throughout this process. The rescue is one of the best and most passionate I have ever come across. Cherina and Allen dedicate their timeand funds to bail these needing horses, transporting them and getting them the medical care, love, training and nutrition they need. They are very thorough in researching and approving adopters, to ensure these horses get their forever happy, healthy life they all deserve. I have the utmost respect for their work and wish there were more honest and caring folks running rescues like them!

Serenity Saviors helped me pull my boy from a kill lot. After months of having him and loving him and training him I had a few life changes. They came from Florida no questions asked and brought him to their rescue. He's up for adoption but I hope and pray that one day we will meet again. These people go above and beyond and I will be forever grateful. I tear us as I wrote this.
Serenity Saviors are the most genuine loving caring people not only do they do riding lessons but they travel all over the united states rescuing horse donkeys goats from kill shelters from people that rather see the poor animals die then take care of them thank cherina and allen for having such wonderful hearts and souls
While scrolling through pages and pages of Facebook posts about horses destined for slaughter, I came across a particularly impressive horse. He had big, soul touching eyes and I couldn't stop thinking of him. Serenity Saviors stepped in to take him and I had steady communication with Cherina the entire time as we both worked to raise the money to save him. When all was said and done, Samson was saved and taken to his paradise-like home at Serenity Saviors. Cherina, just as she promised, keeps me updated with pictures and videos of Samson thriving in his new life. I honestly could not have felt better about the entire experience. A lot of people warned me about these "rescue groups" but I trusted my instincts and Cherina has been nothing but wonderful. I highly recommend supporting this rescue group - they do the work that no one else will for these incredible animals and do so with grace and integrity.
The horses are very friendly and very beautiful. They love to be loved on. They will walk beside you.
All I can say is LOVE for Serenity Saviors! One of my all time honest, loving and fair rescues. Cherina and Allen go out of their way for everyone they come in contact with. Their love shines through their horses.
There are no words to describe Serenity Saviors, Allen and Cherina. What they do for the horses is their passion. But so is anyone that happens upon the farm. They care for people adults and children. They rescue ALL animals, any that are homeless, they feed, house and take care of their medical needs. And if possible find the homeless the perfect forever home. And they work 24/7, hard work, and to them it is not work, it is a blessing. Serenity Saviors educates about the unwanted horses that are sent to kill pens, and if the horse is not rescued at auction they are sent to slaughter, and they meet the most horrible death. They rescue the horses, drive all over the United States to deliver the rescued horses in all kind of weather, feed them and help with their medical needs. Their farm is paradise. Beautiful and amazing. When I first arrived at Serenity Stables the first thing I felt was love. Everything glows, it is magical. It is truly a serene experience
Serenity Saviors, the horses are so well taken care of, they are very happy with the people taking care of them. Not one time have i ever seen a horse sick, dirty, not taken care of, or unhappy. Every time i show up, Cherina and Allen is so happy to see people come and look at horses , and i know the horses are happy because they start talking and go right to the doors. I really love the fact they save kill pin horses and give the horses a chance to live and enjoy life,

I volunteered at serenity stables what a wonderful place i learned so much who knew how many horses are in the slaughter pipeline i never even knew about the kill pens and all that what an eye opener the compassion and hard work allen and cherina do to keep saving lives and run the farm is amazing if you ever jave a chance to go out there go go go you will not be disapppinted
Serenity Stables is our FAVORITE summer camp! Their team does an AMAZING job each summer with our special needs neice. Serenity Stables is consistently warm, welcoming, flexible, considerate, and understanding of our needs. The life-long skills they have taught our little-one is evident and invaluable. We have witnessed their warmth and compassion each year with the children and animals that occupy their organization. I have not seen the farm in person - but the pictures of it show I wonderful place for rescue horses to rehab at. The majority of rescue horses are scared. They do not understand what is going on around them. Being moved from their known surroundings to all over the country takes a very hard toll on the horses' spirit. The people that work and own Serenity understand this. They work very hard to fund raise and get the horses they can save to a safe environment
as soon as possible. They use extreme care in moving these poor souls from the kill pen to their rehab home. The greatest pleasure these volunteers get is to find a forever home for the "throw always" . They give these broken souls a new life and chance to live a healthy, loving life. They go beyond to make sure that horse and new potential owners are a match and if not give the horse a place to land until another home can be found. These people are "true horse angels" and I have been proud and happy to follow their stories and seen their loving results.
Serenity Saviors are one of very few rescues that not only rescue Saddlebreds from Kill Pens but transport, re-habilitate, train, board and re-home these horses out of their own pocket. They keep these horses in beautiful stables with top of the line care. I just can't say enough great things about Cherina and Allen of Serenity Saviors. They are amazing people who do amazing things by giving these horses a second chance at life.
