Mission: Seraphic fire aims to present high-quality performances of under-performed music with cultural significance. Simultaneously, seraphic fire encourages the occupational advancement of musicians by providing a forum for the development and presentation of their talents, and promotes community well-being through musical education programs.
Programs: Seraphic fire's 15th anniversary season (2016-17) consisted of 44 concert performances, partnerships with the cleveland orchestra in miami and cleveland, and more than 12,000 attendees across south florida and on tour. Sf commissioned 9 new works that were performed throughout the season thanks to generous support from knight foundation. Featured guest artists included matthew albert (violinist), nathan laube (organist), alvaro bermudez (guitar), and jennifer johnson cano, (mezzo-soprano), as well as guest conductors james k. Bass and elena sharkova.
the partnership between seraphic fire youth initiative and the miami-dade county public school system expanded to include a new, weekly music education program in one underserved school, led by a university of miami graduate music education student and seraphic fire's education administrator. Two district-wide seraphic fire concerts benefited about 1,800 students, but with the addition of the weekly instruction, the depth of impact to 200 of those students exponentially increased.
