Programs: Elder support program (esp) 5,000 older adults and their caregivers in dallas and collin counties received critically needed case coordination, supportive counseling, and help in developing plans for independence, including guidance with in-home care, financial assistance, prescription drugs, health care, and transportation.
foster grandparent program (fgp) 115 low-income older adults in dallas and collin counties worked 15 to 40 hours a week with special needs children at local schools, hospitals, homeless shelters and special care facilities providing 106,114 hours of special attention. The children benefitted from the attention of the foster grandparents, and the lives of the grandparents were enriched by a sense of being needed.
senior companion program (scp) - 101 low-income senior companions provided 15 to 40 hours a week of assistance for a total of 69,918 hours to 122 frail elderly allowing them to remain in their own homes. Companions accompanied clients to medical appointments and the grocery store, assisted with respite care and prepared meals.
