During the months I spent as a volunteer intern at Faith in Action of McHenry County, I spoke with care receivers every week who wanted to tell me how thankful they were for the services our volunteers provide. I also witnessed first-hand the dedication and commitment of the volunteers themselves who selflessly gave of their time in the office and out on service calls. I was inspired to tell everyone I know about the work of this agency and to help preserve its mission.
Client's tell us that they experience less anxiety and loneliness as result of the volunteers who help them remain in their homes. Recent notes stated, “I feel that Faith in Action is a “Security Blanket” for seniors. Thank everyone who volunteers.”
“I have been very thankful for the volunteers who have driven me to doctor appointments. They are so friendly and so willing to share their time…even for a stop by at the grocery store…very much appreciated. I especially want to thank you for sending two friends to helped me with my computer. They were very patient and helpful and had wonderful personalities. Faith in Action provides a desperately needed service.”
It is a privilege to work with an organization meeting the needs of some of the frailest and most forgotten segments of the population.
