Following Leads, Beyond the Search
Today’s outreach began with a specific goal: helping to locate a young man believed to be missing. After covering leads and checking in with community members, we were able to confirm that the individual we encountered was not the person we were searching for. Though that part of the mission came to a close, the day had more to offer.
As is often the case during street outreach, we connected with members of the unhoused and addicted community—individuals who, despite facing deep hardship, often have eyes on the ground and insights that help us piece things together.
That’s how we met Bill.
Bill shared his story with us—how he had been robbed, lost all of his belongings, and survived an attempt to set him on fire. His wounds weren’t healing well. With his permission, we offered basic wound care, cold water, labeled snacks, and a few quiet moments of presence. Ginger offered a heartfelt prayer. And we stayed—listening, talking, simply being there.
As we do during outreach, we also shared missing person flyers and handed out snacks and water labeled with names and case info of those who are still unaccounted for. These small touches are one of the ways we gently keep stories alive in the community, sparking conversation and sometimes drawing out information that may help bring someone home.
Today reminded us that even when we don’t find the person we were looking for, we often find someone who needed to be seen.

I have had the pleasure of working with Mrs. Brooks and her dedicated team of volunteers on a few of their operations. I can't think of a more dedicated and better group of people here in San Antonio. Families are helped at the most difficult time in their lives by this organization. Most of the time, there is no one else to turn to but Search & Support San Antonio. It's been an honor to help out a little bit, and I wish I had more time to participate in searches, outreach events, and fundraisers.
The most rewarding, humblest, and supportive team to volunteer for with a passion in helping families and their loved ones find comfort in times of trouble of need. I love being a part of this team with our team leaders and staff who gives us inspiration, motivation, seeking to help out others when others won't help giving hope to the families in need.
Volunteering with Search & Support San Antonio has been an incredibly powerful experience. This organization is dedicated, ethical, and truly focused on helping families find answers and hope. Search & Support San Antonio's outreach is amazing, and I'm excited for their upcoming events. As well as conducting ground searches, they also organize events for the families of the missing, allowing them to represent their loved ones! Families and those affected need support, and this is exactly what they need!
This is a couple months late due to life getting hectic but my family really appreciates all the help my family got from the wonderful ladies at this organization. Without them we wouldn’t have had a clue where to continue looking after hitting a couple dead ends. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Count on them to help you. I’m a person affected by a missing family member. I have prayed for a group to help people like myself since the year 2010. I was fortunate enough to have been connected with SASSA in 2021. This team made a special effort to help me continue my search. I was so impacted by their unselfish compassion and commitment that I became a volunteer and have been doing so for a few years. I have the opportunity to help the community and provide search and emotional support to others who are going through the same journey I have been traveling for over a decade. I ask all members of the community to consider donating to this outstanding group of individuals who make up the SASSA TEAM. For me, it has been a very important and fulfilling experience to help others alongside this amazing team. There was a missing mother in San Antonio and I wanted To help find her. I volunteered With Search and Support San Antonio and found the experience rewarding. The founder and other volunteers were very well organized and dedicated to the mission. After my first search I told my wife about how good it felt and she too joined. We have been volunteers with SASSA for almost four years now, and have enjoyed the team, and helping our fellow neighbors find missing loved ones and providing awareness to the community.
Search & Support has been really great with the Community as they Have a great Gatherings & Events that help us in Need of our Live ones and the missing for our broken hearts we get to meet one another and share our feelings and support each other Nina & Paula and all there peers do an Excellent job I will continue to Support them as much as possible.
I have been watching Search & Support San Antonio for a long time. The organization provides a wonderful service of educating the public about missing persons and general education. Their outreach and care for missing people's families are wonderful. It makes a difference what you do! Keep up the good work!

I'm very grateful for the service Search & Support San Antonio provides to the local community. In a perfect world there would not be a needed for search and rescue organizations but this is an imperfect world. Search & Support San Antonio is dedicated to assisting those in need and they do an amazing job of communicating with the families of the missing. I am proud to volunteer and offer my resources and time to helping this organization.
Nina is a very Dedicated to her job . She ready took it to heart when looking for my Mother-in-law and mother to my wife and family. Nina is very devoted to her job she goes above for family that are in need of her help. I would greatly recommend Nina to anyone who need help.
Nina and her search and rescue team were very helpful. Nina is willing to help our family to look for our mom Pauline Diaz who went missing on December 7,2010 . She was really into my mom case and still is, Nina will go above and beyond to continue to help look for my mom. She very dedicated to her job and is willing to help people who need help. I will recommend Nina to anyone who need help .
In the last few months I have witnessed this organization and it’s managers provide exemplary service in the areas of search and support. The motivation, perseverance, and expertise that the managing partners possess have made it possible for the community of those with missing loved ones to carry out certain activities that would have otherwise been impossible. Through your support/donations and volunteer services this organization can continue to do great things for those that have experienced very unfortunate circumstances.
I have always volunteered in some form or another. I became involved with Search & Support San Antonio(SASSA) and was impressed with their commitment toward families of the missing. They are educated, professional, caring and provide guidance in dealing with law enforcement or jurisdictional authorities. They can act as a communicating buffer between the family and law enforcement, government agencies or support groups. Having a missing love one is very stressful and emotionally draining. No family is prepared for such an incident but SASSA attempts to take some of that burden away from the families by coordinating efforts on the families behalf. Families do not need to face such traumatic events by themselves and SASSA believes, “You are not alone and we see your need”. This is why I support SASSA both through donations and by volunteering… and you should too!
Volunteering with Search & Support San Antonio was a positive experience for me. I don't know of any better and more dedicated team in the San Antonio Area.
They provide significant support to families at their most trying times and give hope even if no one else cares anymore because so many years have passed.
There is always a need for more volunteers, so I wish I had more time to volunteer with the team.
I am so grateful for this amazing non profit organization Search & Support San Antonio because after 11 years on an active cold case that has been shelved in the “God Files” S&S SA has helped our family dig in places where the possibility that our missing mother may have been buried, S&S SA has given us peace of mind having the answers that she is not buried in those potential locations. It’s a blessing to have such an amazing organization because they help with dedication & compassion that ignites & revives Hope once again to many families who face a dead end in their journey where their LOVE ONE HAS GONE MISSING & UNFOUND.
I'm pleased to see Search & Support San Antonio grow. Their members have self-funded and been motivated by a passion for the cause from the beginning. In addition to the case, they are concerned about the families involved and provide emotional and practical support (hence the name Search & Support).
They are the best non-profit search team ,,,,they have been searching for my sister seens 2019 ,they are amazing I love how they take time too check up on us how there so into there search cases , I am more than thankful too them for always helping us and they still continue too help us till they find my sister love them alot blessings ❤
I'm so grateful for the help of this organization. They helped us when we needed it the most. Our daughter was lost and my husband & I were looking for her with no clue where to go. Well they went beyond and above to help us in every way got us in touch with the news and other volunteer groups and people who search for missing persons. After a week and 1/2 we found our daughter. She was hiding scared. I thank god he brought Search & Support San Antonio like angels to help us find our daughter. They also gave us support not to lose faith and keep trusting God he would guide them and us to her. It was like a miracle but we suddenly did. They made sure I was eating and taking my meds to keep my strength up too. They were our angels at our moment of need. We can never repay them all they did for us.
