I truly loved working with Shell Cleave, the founder of Sea Hugger, and hearing more about the work she's doing to help protect our marine environment from plastic pollution. The tips and tools Sea Hugger provides are not only useful but necessary in helping us tackle this global problem.
Sea Hugger works with my son's school in El Granada, teaching kids environmental responsibility, particular when it comes to keeping our local beaches clean. I've seen significant changes in my son's attitude toward the beach! He loves to clean up and proactively cleans the beach himself whenever we go and spreads the word to his friends. I love to see him incorporating a sense of social responsibility at the young age of 6!
Sea Hugger is a valuable resource for educating and motivating people of all ages to reduce plastic use and help restore the health of our ocean. I am fortunate to call its founder, Shell, a friend and have seen her fun loving energy and commitment in other aspects of her life. Fighting for the worlds oceans is no different. What I particularly admire is Sea Huggers refusal to criticize or shame anyone or any industry. Their messages are always positive and upbeat. They focus on hope and potential results without a word of blame for how we got ourselves (and the sea) to this point. If we are to help the marine life and oceans where they live, we must get the word out about the effects of micro plastics. Sea Hugger is diligently working to do just that.
I personally have been hugely impacted by Sea Hugger. On a consumer level, a good citizen level, personal health, and community member. Each of our decisions affects us, affects our community, and our natural environment. I would not be who I am without my natural surroundings, and I am so thankful there's an organization helping bridge that connection even more, while making an empowering difference in my mindset!
Sea Hugger is reaching out to all of us, especially our younger generation, to wake up and notice what is happening to our sensitive and weakening world! Along with education in our schools, Sea Hugger has organized beach cleanups and other community events. Using the Nurdle Trummel, a sand sifter that separates microplastic from the sand, Sea Hugger volunteers are cleaning the beaches one shovel full at a time. Imagine what could be accomplished with more or larger Nurdle Trummels! More donors are greatly needed for this exceptional non-profit organization! Sea Hugger is deserving of recognition, volunteers, and increased donor participation.
Sea Hugger has done a lot in a short time and this is just the beginning. I am amazed at the way so much information has been gathered and distributed. I live in Roseburg, Oregon and have taken a lot of the information from Sea Hugger and used it in programs for church and a couple of other organizations. We can all help, no matter where we live, we can lessen the amount of single use plastic we each use and Sea Hugger has shown us that. Use fewer straws, no plastic utensils, there are many little ways we can help with the big job of returning our Mother Ocean to what she once was.
Sea Hugger is a nonprofit organization focused on protecting and healing the marine environment from plastic pollution. Their mission is to educate the public to reduce plastic dependency, while focusing on protecting the marine environment, ensuring the intrinsic rights of aquatic life, and helping create sustainable coastal communities that are no longer affected by plastic pollution.
In a very short time, Sea Hugger has become a local staple in their community. They feature regularly scheduled beach cleanups, as well as youth educational gatherings.
In addition, they have used public donations to purchase equipment to both find microplastics (The NURDLE TROMMEL) and skim pollution off of The top of local waters (The SEABIN).
I have never seen a group more focused on doing the right thing. I am thrilled to call myself a "Sea Hugger".
Kudos to Sea Hugger for making a difference. Not the usual "save our ocean and beaches" mantra to which many people are numb, but compelling new interactions with the community and innovative devices that get results.
Stay tuned and support Sea Hugger.
They are on the fast track to much bigger things!
I have been so impressed with the Sea Hugger message and mission. They are doing great work cleaning up local beaches and Pillar Point Harbor. Check them out!

Sea Hugger is really making a difference in so many ways. Boots-on-the-ground beach cleanups focusing on microplastics, educating community and young people in particular, growing and partnering with like-minded organizations elsewhere and internationally, helping us all move toward plastic-free choices day to day, and so much more. Sea Hugger is leading the charge for all of us - there are steps all of us can take to reduce the plastic waste flowing to our water sources, and we need to get started however we can.
Sea Hugger does so much for our community and to protect the ocean and marine mammals! I especially love that they go into schools and do hands on education with children.
People like to pay a lot of lip service to the environment. Few actually back up the talk with the walk. Sea Hugger walks the talk. Real solutions brought with love, integrity, education and community outreach. "Teaching our children well" (and us adults too).
Proud to support. Encourage you to do the same.
