This is a wonderful organization. Their events are top notch. They have awesome panels on all topics of screenwriting that are very informative and valuable. Their monthly networking events are well organized, have great turn outs, and are an excellent opportunity for meeting fellow screenwriters and even other members of the entertainment industry. I even won a free copy of Final Draft at one of their events. If you are a screenwriter in Los Angeles, join them!

Under Melessa’s leadership, Scriptwriters Network has focused on educating writers about current practices in the industry. The speakers they bring in are honest, entertaining, and very generous with their time. I’m a forever member/supporter!

Scriptwriters has helped me connect with several writers and industry people during their networking events. There’s always a good turnout and it’s always at a nice bar/lounge.

Scriptwriters Network is a great resource for anyone wanting to become proficient in screenwriting, directing, or acting. Nowhere else can aspiring artists find such close contact with major players in movie making.

The talks they give are excellent and always rich with information on what is happening behind the scenes in Hollywood and other filmmaking centers. It is an excellent networking opportunity and a person can gain knowledge of the industry which they would miss even if they attend classes at major universities.

This nonprofit offers the best value in membership for screenwriting programs that I've seen in Los Angeles. Other groups have raised prices over the years for the same services, but the quality of training I received at Scriptwriters, who always has new speakers and programs, surpasses a lot of others out there. I couldn't recommend it more. Plus, the volunteers are always very helpful and friendly to everyone. Thank you Scriptwriters!

I've shared this organization with anyone I meet who says they are a screenwriter or want to learn how to be better. My girlfriend learns from every meeting she's attended, and I've never seen her more passionate about writing for Hollywood than before she joined this group.

I love this nonprofit. I've learned so much more about screenwriting with this group than in a class, workshop, or screenwriting program. They have regular meetings and networking events, they give away screenwriting swag like FINAL DRAFT software and books, and all their speakers are active, working writers on CURRENT shows. I've been a volunteer for the past three years because I support their cause and what they offer to the public is SO VALUABLE. Thank you Scriptwriters Network!

This is an amazing organization. I had heard of Jen Grisanti by reputation and name, so I was pleasantly surprised to find her at the events. She's a big deal but to have her be so approachable and invested in developing the careers of other writers is really encouraging for struggling artists. Kala and Melissa who were checking people in made sure that people knew how to network as soon as they checked in. If people did not know, Kala gave a short run down on what to do and what to say to ensure them of having a successful networking night. I love this organization's intention of connecting writers and creating/supporting a community of artists. It's awesome to see it and be a part of it.

Scriptwriter's Network has been incredibly helpful. I have learned a ton, and met some truly wonderful, creative, and professional people. The group's leader, Melessa, is excellent and reliable. The group as a whole is an asset for any screenwriter, regardless of his or her current professional level.

It’s incredibly fortunate that Scriptwriters Network exists. The panels with industry professionals provide invaluable insight regarding any & all aspects of the screenwriting trade, plus adjacent areas of the industry. Like the saying goes, “the more you know,” & Scriptwriters Network is a unique resource offering up & coming writers information they’re unlikely to find elsewhere.

I've been a member for over 20 years, and almost every advance I've made in my screenwriting career has been due to this organization. I was privileged to be its Chairman from 1997-2004, and helped it grow into a respected and useful organization within the Hollywood community. I'm proud of my work and what the Network has accomplished, and I look forward to watching it grow in the coming years.

Top class work for a community that is used to working in isolation. They take us out of our shells and bring us together to create and learn.

Every writer should attend their events, and volunteer to be a reader for this organization. It will make them better writers, and to avoid years of mediocrity and sub-par writing, writing without education. Volunteering for the SWN HOP program is the only way of becoming a better writer, and a great means to a professional path.

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Require the writers who submit to the HOP and the HC writing competitions to go through an orientation, a set of reading requirements, such as reading previous winners and losers, and their corresponding coverage that made them winners and losers, and reading existing scripts of movies in their genre. Why? So that the writer knows ahead of time what to avoid, what poor writing is, and what it takes to write a winning script. When done so, they will have a base to work from and to rewrite their script before submitting it to the program. They benefit by both avoiding a loss of fee on a bad script, and submitting a much more refined and polished work. Repeatedly, I've read poor first-timers and feel bad for them, as they believe that they are writers and have done a good job. But in reality, they have nothing that speaks to the craft. They wasted their money, time and effort. By going through an orientation and reading assignments of some sorts, they will enlighten themselves to the process of creativity and great writing.

SWN is most valuable for people in the area who can take advantage of the meetings and seminars. It's also useful to out-of-towners who take advantage of programs like Hollywood Outreach and Television Outreach. A good group to be associated with and support.

I've been an active board member with Scriptwriters Network for the past year, and prior to that served as a volunteer. Having seen the way this organization has grown in the past two years makes me excited to see where it will go in the future: we've seen a higher caliber of speakers, a stronger focus on growth, and a lot of great plans for what will develop in the future.

This organization really cares about its members and does great things for writers. I have received several life-changing opportunities because of the Scriptwriters Network, including a week long screenwriting workshop in the Swiss Alps I would otherwise never have known about. They get excellent guest speakers and offer many wonderful workshops and support for their members.
