The venue is stunning and I've attended everything from plays, to dancing with the NEPA stars, to cooking demonstrations, to beer festivals at the Cultural Center. The architecture alone is enough of a reason to choose to attend an event. Always a great time.
I have been attending programs at the Scranton Cultural Center since high school. I was the theater geek in high school who would rather sit in the audience of a great play than hang out at the mall. I was thrilled to be an usher for several shows while in high school.
The Cultural Center is the greatest opportunity to see Broadway shows and other entertainment without needing to travel to NYC. The opulence of the auditorium is unmatched.
We make a weekend away when we come to see a show at the Scranton Cultural Center. We live in NJ and just love coming in to Scranton to see shows. The cost is much more reasonable and the trip is a whole lot easier than going to NYC. Plus we can afford seats that are much closer to the stage. We have seen Midtown Men, Hello Dolly, Blue Man Group and Jersey Boys. Loved them all!! We had also seen Jersey Boys on Broadway and this touring show was every bit as good.
The building is gorgeous and parking is so easy. Tickets are easy to purchase and the people are so friendly. I highly recommend the Scranton Cultural Center.
I have ben going to the Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple for years; first as a child enjoying the children's programs and then as an adult bringing my children for events. I also enjoy the Broadway shows and have found them to be just as professional as those I've seen in New York City. I've also attended weddings at the Temple which were uniquely beautiful in the stone walled hall and two-tiered banquet room.
The Scranton Cultural Center is a place where you will find our family all year long! From the terrific Broadway shows, the Philharmonic, the Nutcracker Ballet, and Arts Alive....we can just go on and on! When our girls were small I went with both of them on tours (which they still have) of the whole Masonic Temple- the facility is amazing! We are very lucky to have such a wonderful building and staff so close to our home!
As most locals in Scranton, The Scranton Cultural Center at The Masonic Temple is one of the finest pieces of art in Pennsylvania. There are several ballroom for small board meetings to large and elegant weddings.
My daughter recently held her wedding reception at the Cultural Center. Cocktail hour was held in several areas to display the special areas. The large entry hallway. the balcony and adjacent room overlooking the main ballroom, and the Robert Casey Library allowed the guests to explore and mingle while being catered to with the finest there is.
The ballroom opens up to the 1500 seat theater, and the Broadway sized stage served as the dance floor.
Over all there is nothing that can be better. A tremendous facility. If you want the best wedding venue with the most fantastic architecture around, this is the place. All of the guests were just amazed at how fine a building this place is.
Sincerely, Paul W Welby. Scranton Pa
I've always loved events at the Scranton Cultural Center. The building itself is gorgeous and Scranton is lucky to have such a building. My most recent experience was with the Summerstage Camp program for kids. My 10 yr old son has always been entertaining us with his many voices, impersonations, and parodies. The slapstick comedy camp session sounded perfect for him. Following just 4 days if rehearsal and other fun activities, the kids had the show put together. Gino's voices were not only appreciated but put to great use as he nailed the British accent for one of the skits and it was awesome.
We were so proud if him and all of the kids- a really great program that I hope continues!!
The shows at Scranton Cultural Center are as good as NYC, but minutes away from home..The sound, actors, singers all fabulous..I have seen Peter Pan, Movin out(Billy Joel music), Les Miserables, etc..all were great and plan to attend many more..evn have a craft show in November taht is amazing..
After retiring and moving from the NYC area to Northeast PA. we thought we'd forfeit our regular enjoyment of the Arts. Not so, thanks to the Scranton Cultural Center. Broadway shows, the Philharmonic, special concerts of touring artists... it's all here in Scranton. The bonus is these events are set in a venue that can only be described as magnificent! The ongoing restoration of the theatre and the setting in the Masonic Temple creates an atmosphere rivaling any on Broadway. The surrounding neighborhoods have responded in kind with new restaurants and amenities. Bravo to the Scranton Cultural Center!
We've been seeing at least two shows a year at the Cultural Center and it is always a wonderful experience! Their shows have top talent and it's a great venue. There really isn't a bad seat in the house and the acoustics are great.
We were given a "private" tour of the Center when expected company from Chicago made their visit "out of season" for tours. Our friend - who was in the business of historic site restoration - was thrilled that we were able to make this visit memorable. Thanks to the staff at the Scranton Cultural Center for everything they do to make their venue open to a diverse group of performers and artists. And, thanks for making the Center the crowned jewel of Scranton.
My husband and I LOVE going to this theater and we go often. It's a little NYC flavor right in downtown Scranton. The shows & performances to choose from are fantastic and entertaining. I can't say enough great things about the Scranton Cultural Center. Kudos to them for always knocking it out of the park.
I saw Jason Mraz at the Masonic Temple a few months ago. The concert was a kickoff to his American tour and what a perfect theater to have seen this show! I was lucky enough to sit in the first row of the mezzanine and let me tell you, the acoustics of the main theater were PHENOMENAL! It was like Jason Mraz was five feet in front off me, singing to me. ALSO... I saw Jeff Beck at the Center the day before he was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame. You wouldn't think that the Masonic Temple could be the type of venue to host large scale concerts, but it is one of the most amazing buildings I have ever seen. Not only does the Scranton Cultural Center have large concerts, but they are community oriented and host a variety of charity balls, graduations, kids educational programming, community programs... you name it, they have it! I would love to see this building continue to thrive for the next 100 + years for my children and my childrens children to enjoy!!!!!
