The festival has consistently had a very good selection of films, year after year. It is very well run and the experience of all involved shows.

As a life-long film buff, I initially started attending SIFF when it first began in 2001, just a few weeks following "9/11"-- amazing that it not only got off the ground, but was well-attended, and started a buzz in the Valley. The Festival has grown immensely, as regards the numbers of attendees and films, and therefore had the need to move to a larger venue to accommodate all. It is sheer pleasure to be part of this whole organization. I have been a volunteer since the 2nd year, and I will continue to support the wonderful world that Amy Ettinger has brought to this corner of the globe.

I go to several film festivals each year. I look forward to going to the Scottsdale Film Festival because I can see a lot of good films in a short time. I get a pass so that makes it more convenient to to attend the wide selection of films offered. It is a fun time. We see folks from previous years that attended the films----and can talk about what we have seen.

I moved to Phoenix 4 years ago and immediately became aware of the Scottsdale International Film Festival through Harkins Theaters; being retired it is my great joy to go to any movie I want on opening day ~ and upon checking into The Festival's website, I realized here was the place to see movies at the earliest possible time, even before opening! And all year round, with the sneak peek opportunities they had for the community! I attended the Festival with ‘guest’ tickets the first year, and seeing the great selections, simply joined. Throughout the year, and especially at the Festival, this is the organization that offers the best of movies there’d be no chance to see otherwise.

For an urban area the size of Phoenix, there are very few venues showing diverse and quality international and independent film. The Scottsdale Film Festival fills that void with a long weekend highlighting diversity in films that never cease to provoke discussion. The feeling that comes from watching films with a large, like-minded crowd cannot be matched. The festival is well run and my only problem with is is that it only comes around once a year. I'd love to see it do more special events throughout the rest of the year.

I have attended every Scottsdale International Film Festival since the beginning as a pass holder. I also attend the Telluride Film Festival and the Palm Springs International Film Festival each year. All three festivals provide fine selections of films and we enjoy attending all three. One area in which the Scottsdale International Film Festival far exceeds the other two festivals is it's accessibility to the public. The Festival Director selects a wide range of films with an emphasis on excellent international films that have great stories and provide a glimpse of other cultures. Additionally, there are always some films that raise awareness of important social, environmental, or economic issues here in the United States. The passes and individual tickets are reasonably priced, the Director is careful not to oversell passes or tickets, the lines and time waiting in line are very short compared to other festivals, and the volunteers and staff are friendly and helpful. Consequently, this is a fun, enjoyable festival to attend. The last two years, I have been a member of the Scottsdale Film Forum and have enjoyed seeing some outstanding films throughout the year.

I have worked with the Scottsdale International Film Festival since 2009, and have enjoyed watching it's sure and steady growth. The festival is one of the most anticipated events on the Scottsdale arts calendar, and is a wonderful resource for film lovers all across Arizona. The festival is incredibly well organized and executed, and delivers for both attendees and those who volunteer! The festival outgrew it's original theatre in 2011, and now offers and even bigger and better venue to showcase films from around the world. The Scottsdale International Film Festival is a true gem!

Having worked alongside Scottsdale International Film Festival for almost a decade, I can attest that the festival is one of the most organized I've been involved with. With a detail oriented team, and a dedication to making it even better each year, Scottsdale International Film Festival has set an exemplary example for how good festivals should be run. Supporting this worthy cause helps promote the arts, film, community and keeps a long-standing tradition growing.

This is definitely one of my favorite arts events of the year. I have attended for several years and go from one movie to another - I know any film I attend will be wonderful because the festival is so perfectly curated. My only regret is that I have to select films and can't see them all. The festival offers a range of emotional experiences, but each film is always excellent and thought-provoking. SIFF provides an opportunity for the Valley to see films that they may not see be able to see otherwise - there are also some that will hit the theaters a few months down the road, but the festival attendees saw it way ahead of the pack. This festival is a must attend!

I continue to volunteer for the SIFF because it is a true gem. Very well run. The festival director is extremely knowledgeable and year after year puts on an incredible festival. This festival is truly an international event with something for everyone, every time! I wouldn't miss it!!! And if you're anywhere near Scottsdale in early October, you shouldn't either!

Working in the international film festival business for over 20 years, I continue to follow and attend when I can the Scottsdale International Film Festival. Many film festivals can have excellent films which Scottsdale International does, but in my opinion the strength of the festival comes from the management. Everything flows beautifully. When things appear to run as smooth as they do at SIFF, one takes things for granted. The credit goes to the management team headed up by their Director Ms. Ettinger. It's flawless and the event should be on any film "junkies" list. It's the best!

I have been a pass holder for this Festival since Day One. Amy does a great job with the films she chooses and the way the festival is run. Her staff is professional . I am so happy that we have an event of this quality in Scottsdale. I am a film buff and never disappointed.

As far as film in the Valley goes, SIFF is THE BEST place to see foreign and independent films that don't quite make it into wider distribution. A must-attend for movie lovers!

For the several days I attend films at SIFF every year since its inceptions, I feel like I am in a cultural hub again. No matter which movie I pick, comedy, drama, noir, or whatever, I always feel challanged and engaged. This festival gets a little better every year and last year's switch to the new venue gives this festival the oomph it needs to go the next level. I highly recommend this as an autumn do-not-miss!

I have been a faithful attendee of this festival since its inception. As an avid film festival goer, Scottsdale International Film Festival is easily the most efficiently run festival I've ever attended and has consistently shown the finest quality films of any festival as well. That is why I'm also a volunteer and why I have become a donor in recent years. I cannot rave enough about SIFF.

I have worked on the Scottsdale Film Festival Board for several years. Of the many organizations I work on, I find it to be one of the most client centered, and efficient organizations around. Work gets done, details are paid attention to, great films are chosen, and it is all done at a fraction of the cost most would expect. Hard work and high quality are the norm for this unique organization.

When I left the film industry in Los Angeles and moved to Phoenix, I believed I'd left my cinephile friends behind. Lucky for me I discovered the Scottsdale International Film Festival! Not only do they gather a collection of must-see, incredibly diverse films from all over the world, they also have a built in audience of intelligent, sophisticated cinephiles whose post-film discussions are almost as enjoyable as the films themselves. I can't recommend SIFF highly enough.

This is the best Arizona film fest. The films are always outstanding, and the new venue works well. What sets this fest apart is the easy enjoyment factor. Film goers are treated respectfully in a friendly manner, and queueing is kept to a minimum. I like that a lot. The volunteers are nice and well informed. I always meet nice people nd make new friends, while seeing amazing, wonderful movies and meeting fascinating filmmakers. And, finally, there is no film snobbism.

This is a great event. This was my first year and I enjoyed every minute of it. I signed up for the more expensive pass and saw over three days more that 12 films. It as so much fun going from one movie to another and seeing them before they were released. I also meet some fo the actors and directors. It was exciting to be able to talk to them and hear their story. I can't wait for it to start this year.

This film festival is fantastic. Amy Ettinger does such a wonderful job of selecting great films that attending this event is a smorgasbord of rich experiences. While, of course, some films are better than others, she is so careful about the selections that there really are no bad films. The festival is well-organized, thoughtfully planned and great fun. Donors have reserved seats for all films and do not have to stand in line which certainly adds to the whole movie experience.

When we first came to Scottsdale (from Chicago) in 1976 it was a sleepy little town. We loved its Hispanic, western, and Native American history, but we missed the cultural options we had taken for granted in the big city. One of our favorite family activities had been going to see foreign and independent films in Chicago's art houses. Then, along came the Scottsdale International Film Festival (SIFF) which has so enriched the lives of thousands of Arizonans, winter visitors, our own local community, and our family in particular. Right after 9/11 we thought there wouldn't be a festival because the whole country was in mourning. But thankfully, and more importantly, SIFF went on as usual, and became more relevant than ever before. Personally, I've made life-long friends during the festival and seen films from all corners of the earth. As audience members, we've had meaningful conversations with the films' directors and actors and become involved in learning about once remote, inaccessible cultures. With the world becoming more global-centric, SIFF is truly a cultural oasis in the desert!

Movie distributors treat Arizona as a second class citizen. Through the annual efforts of the Scottsdale International Film Festival, scores of films that would never be seen in Phoenix appear on their screens. Without the Scottsdale International Film Festival, my home would be culturally deprived.

I have been a volunteer for about 5 years. Last year I even had to alter my vacation plans to get back in time to volunteer! I enjoy being around the crowd of happy people experiencing the wonderfully diverse movies that are always a part of the Scottsdale Film Festival. It is always well managed , well hosted and well attended and I am happy to be a part of it every year.

I’ve been a volunteer and patron of the Scottsdale International Film Festival for the past eight years. The Scottsdale International Film Festival is an annual event that features international exposure of film productions of various genres. The 2012 Scottsdale International Film Festival will mark the twelfth year that the festival has been providing an extremely well organized film festival event, featuring a diverse selection of global cinema presentations, featured film industry guests, and post-screening discussions. In 2011, the festival moved from its former theater venue to a more expansive theater location. The change was initiated due to the festivals’ increasing popularity, and a desire to offer its patrons improved accommodations. The festivals’ executive director is continually striving for improvements in all aspects of the festival such as; ticket reservations, film selections, and patron balloting of all films, including published results of festival favorites.

Even though for the past couple of years I have managed the Scottsdale International Film Festival (SIFF), I can honestly say that it is a wonderful well-run machine due to the collective organization and energy from the organizers, sponsors, donors and volunteers who faciliate the awesome experience for our Festival goes. It is obvious the volunteers feel rewarded by participating in the event--especially their direct interaction with the festival-goers. The SIFF is an international film festival that prides itself on showing just that...quality international film! Our festival goers speak highly of the movie-going experience regarding the great customer service they receive from our volunteers and theatre staff from the time they enter the theatre to the time they depart. So many festival goers stay for as many films as they can each day and have the opportunity to vote on their favorite films! The Scottsdale International Film Festival is a top-quality festival experience! This by far, is definitely a highly recommended event each October in Scottsdale, Arizona! We have the incredibly committed and devoted Festival Director Amy Ettinger to thank for that! Thank you! Ted Kirby, Festival Manager
