Programs: Creating libraries in rural kenya - the program consisted of collecting, sorting, repairing, boxing and shipping 87,000 used fiction, non-fiction, and reference books from denver, colorado to 20 rural schools and 2 community libraries in southwest kenya. Kenyan community involvement included renovating a room, building shelves, and building or purchasing furniture. Scope paid for all transportation and port fees and presented libarary management workshops. The population served was 16,254.
tree farming - a long term tree farming program was started at 40 schools. Tree seedlings for producing lumber and fruit were provided, including 4,000 banana trees and 23,000 lumber-producing trees.
