Mission: Schools Online is a public benefit 501(c)(3)organization whose mission is to help students use the communication and information resources of the Internet for learning and cross-cultural dialogue. We accomplish this by providing schools with appropriate technology and Internet access, facilitating teacher professional development, and cultivating online cross-cultural projects.
Programs: Our programs focus on providing Internet access to schools in disadvantaged communities. Major initiatives have helped bring equipment and professional development for over 5,700 schools and more than 10,000 teachers.Many of Schools Online programs are in areas of most need and unfortunately, the least likely to receive the support and international or local attention. In Paraguay, for example, Schools Online supported ten rural schools with their first computers and the necessary teacher training. These schools have become the epicenters of their communities, transformed into community resources that has empowered its members.
