Mission: To educate our children to become the new wave of American leaders – ones that are creative, understanding, kind yet assertive, media savvy, innovative, and accepting of others. Ultimate goal is to assure that the students succeed and prosper in a more tolerant and unified world and pass these values on to future generations. To accomplish this vision, a unique educational environment and perspective is essential. Emphasis will be place on: • Providing a safe and responsible school environment. • Hiring and nurturing a proactive, knowledgeable and caring faculty. • Providing and encouraging the study of foreign languages, cultures, student exchange programs and international travel. • Developing an expertise in the use of electronic media as a powerful tool to foster communication.
Results: Participants continue to experience the power of tolerance, combating bullying, fundamental academics, all spearheaded by the painful recounting of Holocaust Survivors. Hundreds of students continue to integrate powerful messages by images, music and performances, exploring the connection between historical bystander behavior, modern challenges with school bullying, gun violence, and the code of no snitching. Participants through our TV broadcasting, Radio broadcasting, Newspaper publication, are exploring, writing and learning to appreciate this remarkable historical human endeavor, understanding the importance of community, respect, and the importance of others. We have expanded the SNN television broadcasting, newspaper writing, conflict resolution, mentoring, sports, learning interviewing/ communication, and critical reading skills components. SUCCESS STORIES Many of SNN graduates are now professionals and some are students. They have all pledged to continue to be that guiding light to our nation’s youth. The Director of our SNN Educational Program Mr. Edwards met his wife during their years working at SNN. Mr. Edwards is now a Principal at a New York Board of Education school, and his wife is also a NYBoE school teacher. Andrew, one of SNN writers during his school years, is a Yale graduate and is now a practicing attorney.
