Mission: The school fund provides scholarships to high potential students in the developing world who cannot afford to attend school. Through the generous contributions of supporters and in collaboration with a network of education partners, the school fund provides scholarships to high potential, economically-disadvantaged students in developing countries. As a result of our work, more students are able to access and complete secondary school, leading to a more educated and interconnected world.
Programs: Global program: in 2017, the school fund (tsf) made grants of scholarships and educational expenses for 344 needy secondary school students in 7 countries in 3 regions of the developing world. Tsf worked with 11 ngo partners to identify eligible students and create a personalized profile and a detailed list of school costs for each student. Grants from tsf to fund scholarships and school expenses are administered and delivered to the students' schools by the ngo partners. Tsf continues to develop and operate its person-to-person funding website where students' profiles and needs are featured. The online platform allows donors to view students profiles, enables students to communicate with donors via online journals, and supports a transparent payment process in which receipts from the student's school or the ngo partner are viewable on the website.
tanzania program: in 2017, the tanzania (tz) program made grants of scholarships and educational expenses for 248 needy students in tz and provided funding support for eight school computer centers used by students and teachers. As in the global program, students' profiles and funding needs are featured on tsf's website. Students communicate with donors via online journals, using the computers at the computer centers. The website provides viewable receipts. On-the-ground operations in tz in 2017 were conducted by the school fund tanzania, a tz-registered ngo, as required by local law.
