Mission: The mission of the scholastic 3-d archery program is to foster, educate and guide youth in 3-d archery, indoor target archery, bowhunting and conservation.

Programs: The annual s3da national tournament was held in metropolis, il on june 16- 18, 2017. This tournament had 708 students from 203 schools/clubs. These students represented 21 different states. S3da students were given the opportunity to experience all of the facets of a national archery event; this included getting to see archery specific vendors, as well as special archery shooters association events designed especially for our student. Our archers even had the chance to take part in special events with professional archers from several archery manufacturers. This event is something that will continue to be part of the tournament schedule for scholastic 3-d archery and will continue to grow and develop with each year. We also offer a s3da/qdma family whitetail challenge that consisted of family units competing against other s3da families. We had 71 families participate.

the first western indoor national was held in conjunction with the national field archery association (nfaa) and the world archery festival (waf) in las vegas, nv on february 9, 2017. This tournament had 123 students from 11 states participating for awards and scholarships prior to the nfaa indoor nationals. The s3da students were able to experience a professional event provided by nfaa and the waf and see firsthand the manufactures that build archery products and interact with the professional archers during the shoot with the pros event.

the first s3da outdoor target tournament was held at the university of the cumberlands on july 21-22, 2017. This even captured 123 students from 11 states in all s3da competitive divisions and classes. The setting was perfect for our mission as the university of the cumberlands archery coach and staff provided a great venue and atmosphere and special tours of the campus was provided to most of the high school participants and thier families.

the s3da states held regional and state tournaments in indoor, 3-d and outdoor target archery events in 2017. We held 72 regional events and 43 state tournaments. The number of clubs increased from 140 to 225 and the number of students participating increased from 1091 to 2896.
