Mission: To serve as lifelong guardians and advocates for people with developmental disabilities who cannot acquire needed services independently. (continued on schedule o)we will work with persons with developmental disabilities, their families, and other service providers to achieve a secure life for those we serve. Our organization resolves to preserve the rights of individuals with developmental disabilities and to expand their opportunities and life choices.
Programs: Guardianship services - provided to 47 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
pro se program services - assisted 101 families in becoming guardians for their developmentally disabled adult children.
community trust - provided trustee services to 39 families and individuals with severe, chronic disabilities through pooled and individual trust services to promote their security and improve their quality of life.
As we look at an aging population and the young people with developmental disabilities, it is clearly evident that we are handing for a social and health nightmare - now and into the future. SCARC Guardianship fills an important void in the lives of the developmentally disabled and their families. Their work is important, fills an important need in five counties, and never- ending. In a country and state where we should be taking care of those less fortunate, this is one of the better organizations that reaches out to those with limited voice. I can only hope that those who check out this fine organization can contribute time or money to sustain their goals.
