Mission: To eliminate the abuse and neglect of children through family services, education and community partnerships.
Target demographics: parents, children, and young adults who are at-risk for child abuse or neglect; 98% of our clients are at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty level.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 15,520 parents and children comprising 5,662 families.
Geographic areas served: Northeast Indiana counties, including: Adams, Allen, Cass, DeKalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Howard, Huntington, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, St. Joseph, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, and Whitley
Programs: Healthy Families, home-based child abuse prevention program for families with newborns. Daybreak Crisis Homes, which provides specialized respite care to keep children safe during a family crisis. Community Partners/Network for Safe Families, which provides one-on-one, in-home case management and crisis intervention, to assist parents in need. Family Connections, which provides group/individual workshops for families experiencing divorce, separation, or child exchange issues. Be SomeOne Now, a joint program with WorkOne Northeast, that connects 16- to 21-year-olds to the help they need to earn a GED, enroll in college and/or find a job. Education Services, which include community volunteers providing free, mission-focused workshops on abuse prevention, bullying, gun safety, and more. Additionally, SCAN provides Family Preservation services to rebuild families who have experienced the trauma of abuse and/or neglect.
