Mission: Saved by Zade is a kitty overpopulation liaison in the Lansing and Jackson areas. We are 100% ran by unpaid volunteers, and donations are needed as we pay for many of the needs for medical, transportation, vaccination, testing, and more to help kitties in your community.

Target demographics: Feline Overpopulation

Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 1000 cats

Saved by Zade is an organization that truly cares about helping the kitties on all levels. I originally met the founder shortly after SBZ started when SBZ was only doing TNR. I was so impressed by her passion to help the kitties, her knowledge, and integrity. At the time, I was looking to adopt, but since SBZ wasn't doing adoptions yet, they pointed me to another organization that was, and I got 2 rescued, formerly feral kitties that are wonderful.
Last year, a feral mama with kits ended up in my yard and I contacted SBZ for their knowledge and assistance. The SBZ volunteers were knowledgeable and fabulous, and very supportive. They gave me the information and support to capture the family and get them the care they needed.
Recently, I saw some questionable Craigslist ads for an unknown cat rescue (no name listed). The ads reminded me of those "We buy Houses" signs that are on street corners that you know are a scam. I believe one of the above posters may be associated with those ads. If that poster is associated, they are trying to bash a legitimate organization that strives to save the kitties. Whoever this Craigslist person is, they are undermining the efforts of the good organizations such as SBZ.

Three years ago my cat got out. He was gone for two months, and Saved by Zade helped me trap him so I could have him back. I would have given anything to get him back, and thankfully SBZ was there to help. Everyone I met through their organization has been fantastic, and they all equally share the passion of rescuing cats.

Oh my gosh, I couldn’t say enough fantastic things about this rescue. I myself have fostered/volunteered/rescued the whole sha-bang with this rescue. They are on the ground day and night, through a epidemic still making spay, neuters general vet care and taking on a plethora of emergency cases. I’ve worked with a few rescue but NONE are as genuine hearted as this group of people. I am amazed everyday at what they pull off. LOVE YOU SAVED BY ZADE!!

At least THREE different women who are involved with/foster with Saved by Zade trolled and wasted valuable time with the rescue I am involved with. They took it upon themselves to patrol Craigslist and responded to what they didn't know were very legitimate ads. Although the rescue does not usually take to Craiglist to post ads, during the Covid-19 situation, we learned that more and more people are desperate to find homes for their pets, especially with shelters being closed, which means more end up homeless or fall into baiters' hands because people give them away for free. A volunteer made posts stating those facts and that our rescue could help pregnant mother cats while in the area and they responded by trolling our posts. They claimed they were trying to make sure our post was legitimate, but rather than asking for the rescue's name right off the bat, they instead sent emails pretending to inquire about help. One email stated they found a 4 day old kitten in a trash can and needed a mother for it and the other said they needed help for an abandoned cat they found at work.

Unfortunately, their names were immediately recognized by one of our volunteers and we didn't waste much time planning to make the trip to pick up these animals that didn't exist.

I have no idea who is in charge here and can't imagine they would be okay with their volunteers harassing/trolling/lying/wasting valuable resources in such a vulnerable time, but they are.

After being called out for what they did, they made up multiple other fake emails demanding to know the rescue's name to make sure the posts are legitimate.

Policing Craigslist of in itself seems like such a waste of valuable time and resources, let alone the totally insensitive emails they sent.

This leaves me questioning the integrity and maturity of this non-profit. And I hate to leave a review like this, but it was totally inappropriate.

Hi “professional with expertise”, I don’t know what else to call you, because the extremely shady and uninformative ads you posted on Craigslist did not verify your identity or legitimacy as a rescue. Nor did you respond when our volunteer asked. I have seen the emails sent by my volunteers, and your responses where they are being threatened to get “blasted” all over social media. YOU have already wasted HOURS of our resources because so many concerned community members sent us your ad, fearing it was for bait animals or snake food. If you have a problem with our volunteers working to prevent animals being tortured, you can reach out to us at [email protected] to discuss. Any other attempts to slander our volunteers and rescue will be forwarded to our lawyers. Sincerely, Alyssa Programs Director Saved by Zade

Saved by Zade has earned its wonderful reputation by always putting cats first, time and time again. Not only do they place all adoptable cats in foster homes where they receive the TLC they are often in such need of, but also provide invaluable service to controlling the overwhelming feral and stray cat populations by doing TNR and through their Barn Placement Program. It's hard to believe that they do what they do with only donations and volunteers.

Just an amazing nonprofit. Saved by Zade has helped so many kittens and cats find homes, get well and be saved from harsh conditions. I would definitely recommend them to be on a list to call.

Saved by zade has been a lifesaver to so many cats and kittens. Without them and their help I’m not sure what would have happened. From fragile newborns, to community cats being TNR, to saving a kitten with lung worms that no one gave a chance to. To watching the same kitten learn to trust people and find a home. I can’t thank them enough for all they do!!! A small but mighty organization!!!

I have been fostering with SBZ and this organization takes the cats nobody wants to spend the money on to give them a better life. Leadership goes above and beyond to make sure us fosters are supported and heard. Leadership also cares about the adopters as well and will try and find a resolution.

Saved by zade is amazing! They were the reason I found my perfect kitten Paisley Puffington! They work so hard and defiantly go the distance when it comes to rescuing kitties and finding them a home that is a perfect fit!

I have fostered for this organization as well as completed other volunteer work here and there. The people are very dedicated to the lives of every kitty they handle. With excellent team work, kitties they rescue are well cared for, loved, and go on to make wonderful family members. These folks go above and beyond just to save 1 life if necessary. Many of them work diligently both day and night in order to save lives. They are all hero's in my book.

Wonderful, helpful and very knowledgeable group of individuals. I hope everyone understands this organization is made up of volunteers. Not one person who helps SBZ gets paid. With that being said, I have been fostering kittens and helping with adoptions for almost 10 months. We all work very hard to make sure the cats/kittens are safe, well taken care and placed into loving homes. It’s amazing to see so many people come together to help these innocent animals. I would highly recommend adopting and/or volunteer for SBZ. ❤️

I have been fostering cats through SBZ for more than half the year. I get a lot of support with food, litter, medical expenses, etc. My brother also adopted a kitten from SBZ before I became a foster who is an absolute angel and they took great care of her as a sick kitten.

Saved By Zade has such a dedicated group of people who do SO much to help cats. They help cats who come from some of the worst situations, and get them the help they need. There are volunteers who will drop everything to transport a cat to get medical treatment, take a cat to a spay/neuter appointment, do an urgent pick up or drop off, or go out in the freezing cold to live-trap a cat who may be injured. The organization and its volunteers are the kindest, most selfless people, and dedicate so much time, and give lots of love to cats who sadly didn't have that before. I cant say enough good things about this incredible organization.

I am a volunteer foster home for kitties that come through Saved By Zade. In the last year, our family has fostered and adopted out over 50 cats/kittens. Saved By Zade is an amazing organization that truly has the best intentions for ALL kitties. Many of our volunteers dedicate their lives, homes, finances, etc to helping these vulnerable creatures. I have never been more proud to work with an organization, and hope to continue for many years to come.

Saved by Zade is an org that is on the ground floor trying to help the kitties in need the most. Every volunteer I've met gives everything they can to help the kitties, and the difference we are making is clear! From transporting to fundraising to fostering to coordinating to sewing to marketing, its amazing what a group of crazy cat people can do! :)

We were able to respond to Christina within a few hours. The kitties in question were legally surrendered to us many months ago. They have since been adopted, together, and are happy in their forever home. We are so sorry you have to go through the heartache of losing your fur babies due to the circumstances, but hopefully knowing they are together in their forever home helps. -Volunteer Alyssa

SBZ intentionally gave me a very sick and malnourished kitten, and she unfortunately passed away from liver disease after just two weeks of being in my home. I emailed them because I suspected negligence in the kitten's foster home - after all, whoever fostered her ignored several obvious sickly symptoms! - and their response was incredibly unprofessional. They blocked me from their volunteering group and instead created a post on Facebook asking for sympathy for THEM. You don't get to usher cats in and out, regardless of health, and then victimize yourself when someone has to suffer through the financial burdens and ultimate loss of their new best friend! I will no longer donate to or support this organization and I cannot possibly rate them any lower.

Rest in peace, sweet Leia.

Terrible organization. They took my friend's cat without permission and when he notified them that it had a home they refused to give it back. So far they have raised hundreds of dollars claiming it is for “medical expenses”. My friend has had to involve the Sherriff and an attorney. When I offered to mediate the situation for them they tracked down my name online, learned where I work and called my job telling the office staff that the police were looking for me. These people are nuts and if you start questioning where the donation money goes they go absolutely insane. If you want to help animals in need please donate to a reputable charity and avoid this one

There are several people who have tried to deal with this organization and have had no success. They remove cats from neighborhoods without the owners permission and when they are contacted about this, they will not give a straight answer. They will not cooperate. They will not return messages. They do not provide a phone number. The only method of communication is Facebook or social media.

Very unprofessional. They accept donations but will not discuss where the money goes.

I have never seen a more dedicated group than SBZ. We live in a mobile home community & it seems that most of the residents that move, leave their kitties behind to fend for themselves.
There is a small group of us that are trying to feed, TNR & tame them for adoption but we are out numbered. Below are photos of one of my boys that SBZ helped me get fixed. However, being black no one wanted him. He is now "our" boy & we call him Puma. He is & will forever be an inside cat. // There is not an animal alive that doesn't want to be taken care of. Please think of Saved by Zade when you have a few extra dollars.
