I didn’t adopt from Save A Pet, but I used to walk the dogs and do home inspections about 9 years ago… Glad to see they, and Pat Corley are still around.
Merry Christmas to that group. They are amazing!
We had recently lost our dog (also a rescue) of 13 ½ years. After a few months of mourning, we were ready to adopt a new pet. We found our first dog through a rescue service on PetFinder.com and figured we’d go the same route with our next dog. So, after spending a little time on-line we found a dog at Save-A-Pet in Forsyth, Ga that looked like a good fit for us. We submitted an application and were fortunate enough to be accepted as Honey’s new parents. We live in FL and drove up to Forsyth to pick Honey up on 11/22/20. When we arrived, we couldn’t help being amazed at the facility. We’d been to animal shelters in the past but never seen one comparable to this. Each dog is provided an individual kennel with heated inside and outside access, with plenty of space. There are fenced in facilities outdoors where the dogs are exercised regularly. The facility is immaculate. Not to mention the volunteer staff members working there providing care and love to desperate animals in need. All dogs receive comprehensive veterinary care. They’re spay neutered and microchipped and receive all necessary shots. Any and all ailments determined by tests, injuries or illness are treated and resolved prior to adoption.
Our dog Honey had been abandoned in a trailer park. She was left alone to fend for herself for about a month until she was finally picked up by Animal Control. She was so very afraid she was unapproachable and had to be caught in a live trap. Thank God she was ultimately brought to Save-A-Pet where she was cleaned up and provided with food, shelter, and their loving care. She was there for about a month by the time we got her. We found Honey to be very sweet and gentle but a little skittish.
We brought Honey back to FL with us and just let her feel her way around and get used to her new home. Initially she found comfort sleeping in a crate we provided for her and keep in our bedroom. By the second night, on her own, she began sleeping between us in our bed. About two weeks later she was running around like she owned the place. Although we were prepared, house training was not required!
We are originally from the IL/WI area and Snowbird between WI and FL these days. In WI there is a Lake close by that we have access to and last summer Honey was able to show off her swimming skills.
We were involved in competition AKC training and showing with our last dog and decided to continue with Honey. We started in January of this year and we train 3 days per week. I find this to be a good way to socialize our pets with other people and dogs as well as learning skills working dogs enjoy. After about 10 months of training Honey was ready to enter her first competition last weekend in Tampa, FL. There were about 100 dogs competing in different divisions. Honey was competing against 14 dogs in her level, Novice B Obedience. She won first Place on Saturday and Second Place on Sunday. Not too shabby for a little homeless shelter dog?
Needless to say, Honey has brought us a lot of fun and happiness. She goes most everywhere with us and is a big part of our lives. We are so very grateful to Pat Corley and the Angels at Save-A-Pet for their vital role in rescuing and preparing these well deserving dogs for their forever home. Given a chance there’s no limit to what can be accomplished.
Providing the kind of care Save-A-Pet provides is costly. We plan to support this operation and hope for support throughout the community. Donations play a vital part in the continued operation.

In 2017, we had to have one of our two dogs put down. After several weeks of grief, we realized that our remaining dog was over 10 years old and decided to look for a puppy for her to pass along her training. We kept checking Save a Pet's newsletter, but didn't see any puppies. Then one day, I was perusing our local newspaper when a dog in the Save a Pet ad caught my eye. His name was Max, a 4-yr-old Black & Tan/Rott mix. I showed my husband and he agreed that there was something special about this dog. We made plans to go see him at the shelter. We are not spontaneous people, but when we saw him and he saw us, we asked to fill out the paperwork. When we left, Max watched us with a look that said, "Why aren't you taking me with you?" The day that Scotti brought him "home" to us was the happiest for our 5 children. Our oldest daughter, now 17, thinks Max is her baby. And I think the feeling is mutual!
“A large, female Golden Doodle appeared at my doorstep and did not leave. I made every attempt to find her owner with no response. A trip to the vet proved no micro-chip but did reveal that she was pregnant with six (6) puppies and due date not far away. I contacted Save A Pet, explained I did not want to surrender her to the pound and did not have room for a dog that large let alone six (6) puppies. Asked if there was any way they could help me. They met me at the shelter and the rest is history - two weeks later she delivered nine (9) beautiful puppies, and Save A Pet found homes for mom and all pups!” This was the beginning of our continuing relation as I don't know what I would have done without their help!
As a long-time volunteer with Save a Pet, their dedication and devotion to their clients never ceases to amaze me.
The last time I volunteered at the shelter, the weather was still very warm. I hesitated to take a new resident, Clyde, a 12 year old mixed breed, out in the heat. The shelter worker encouraged me, however, and Clyde and I had a wonderful one mile stroll; he seemed to really enjoy the walk.
When I inquired as to his story, I was told his owner had become ill and died. Clyde had been adopted from Save a Pet many years before, and he was welcomed back in his time of need. It was obvious that the folks at the shelter were really advocating for him, at a time that was certainly very hard for him. He is a wonderful dog, and I hope he finds a new home soon.

Save a Pet is a marvelous organization for the dogs and people of Monroe county and middle Georgia. We have supported them financially for almost a decade, and recently by volunteering at the shelter, and adopting a wonderful companion. Our 2 year old was pulled from the county shelter by Save a Pet on the last day he was to live; he is the most loving animal we have ever had.
The shelter is clean and exceptionally well-run. They are extremely careful stewards of the funds that are donated, and stretch every dollar to the limit. The people involved are obviously interested in what's best for the animals. We wish we had more time to volunteer there!

Mrs. Pat and the volunteers at Save A Pet do an amazing job at this shelter! I've never seen a dog shelter so clean and professionally ran. It truly is inspiring. All dogs are neutered or spayed before being adopted out, which I believe to be a responsible act. Each dog is personally taken care of by these kind souls. They are saving lives! It's incredible. I recently adopted a 10 week old black lab puppy and I've never been happier with my decision. He has brought so much joy to my life. The adoption process was thorough and professional, as Mrs. Pat works hard to make sure all bases are covered. I can't thank Mrs. Pat and the others at SAP enough!

Pat Corley and her Staff at Save a pet in Forsyth Ga. were absolutely outstanding to work with when searching for our newest family member! I was looking for a medium size dog to replace our Yellow Lab "Jake" who had moved to Doggy Heaven a few months prior. My Wife had planned a trip out of town for the weekend and Emily and I had some big father/daughter plans. After speaking with Ms. Pat, my daughter Emily and I went to Pets Mart to look at a few dogs that were available through Save A Pet (Note: Just to look). Once we entered Emily walked passed three other pins to the very last one on the end and noticed Kendall. Love at first site! Ms. Pat offered to let Emily go walk Kendall who had been at Save A Pet for almost 9 months. After a nice walk, we left to have lunch and a serious discussion about adopting while mom was out of town (probably not a good idea). We reached back out to Ms. Pat who said we could meet them back at Save A Pet that same afternoon to spend more time with Kendall. Even though it was late, and I'm certain Ms. Pat and her staff were exhausted from a long day, they never once hesitated to allow us to spend all the time we wanted with Kendall. I inquired about taking Kendall home that same evening, and the next thing I noticed was true customer service with a smile. Kendall received a lathered bath and we were on our way home. This organization is the friendliest, cleanest, and was most helpful with the addition to our family. We now have a lovely and happy addition to our home.
Kendi has her new nickname and adapted well to her new surroundings, home and family thanks to the staff at Save A Pet. And I'm certain Mom won't be traveling out of town alone any time soon!
Thank you Ms. Pat Corley and Staff at Save A Pet for making our family complete.

We recently adopted from Save a pet(Forsyth)and could not be more pleased with their desire to place pets in loving homes. The process of adoption is very pleasant and very clear. When we adopted, the possibility of a conflict with an elderly dog was discussed, it was not a problem.
Pat Corley and her team could not be more understanding and more dedicated to the goal of saving pets.We are so fortunate to have an organization like this representing our neglected animals. Please keep them in mind when adopting or donating.I proudly recommend their services. The puppy we adopted was healthy and ready to be loved!!!!!

My Taz disappeared on May 20th, and without the help of Pat Corley and Sav a Pet, and an angel in the form of a Good Samaritan, he would have been lost forever. Bless these 2 Ladies and a Great Organization, for reuniting us. Thank you!

I have never seen or been to a shelter like Save a Pet. It is absolutely beautiful and the dogs are so happy. They have big well maintained fenced in yards for with dog houses and plenty of shade for them to play, run and get the opportunity to be outside like "normal" dogs. I truly think these dogs don't even know they are in a shelter they all are so happy and loved. I wish all shelters were like Save a Pet, a beautiful temporary home before they find their fur-ever place to call home.

I just wanted to say what a WONDERFUL organization Save A Pet is, in so many ways! The three, part-time employees are BEYOND AMAZING! It makes my head spin with everything they do for the sake of the dogs. The volunteers are ALSO AMAZING! They have very full lives, yet they take the time to "carve out precious time" for the rescues at the shelter. As we all know, running a shelter is a day by day effort, and those affiliated with Save A Pet do an EXTRAORDINARY job!

Save A Pet, Inc., in Forsyth, Georgia, is an incredible organization composed of volunteers who work tirelessly to rescue dogs, foster dogs, care for injured dogs, i.e., taking to our local veterinarians for treatment, meticulously place dogs in willing homes wishing to adopt, and countless other duties which makes Save A Pet, Inc., the "one of a kind" organization that it is.
I am proud to be associated with this particular organization which always goes "ABOVE AND BEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY" with regard to its volunteers and RESCUES.
Thanks to Save a Pet for the two newest members of our family! They have a great facility for the dogs and Pat was wonderful to work with. She is diligent in ensuring that all of the dogs go to a good forever home. She and her husband brought the dogs over for a home visit and were helpful in offering advice on good veterinarians in the area. We are so thankful for our pups!

Fabulous group of people! Upon my first donation, I received a fantastic, heartfelt and informative thank you letter that impressed me with how organized and effective this organization is. Pat Corley and the rest of the team are superb in holding events and communicating the cause AND it's all about the dogs, not them!
Working with Save a Pet made the process of finding my puppies a new home much more bearable. The Officer Ms. Pat, and the volunteers worked very hard to find the perfect home for my puppies and never settled for anything less than what they needed. They even managed to keep my (who are siblings) together. While I am sad that I had to give up my dogs, Save a Pet has guaranteed a very bright and happy future for my pups.
Thank you Save a Pet

Save a Pet is an excellent place with a lot of great people. Thank you Ms. Pat, thank you Boy Scout Troop 101, and especially thank you to all the volunteers that continuously give their generous time on helping the families and puppies in need. We are all amazed for the loving, caring, and understanding that everybody showed on helping everybody especially our family. We are grateful for all the things you all have done and all the kind love that you all have given to the puppies and for all the hard work. My family are grateful to all of you. Tears of Joy.
Thank you

The volunteers at Save A Pet in Forsyth, Georgia, do an incredible job of taking care of their dogs. They make sure their pups are neutered or spayed, keep up with immunizations and show each dog the TLC they greatly deserve. The volunteer staff works very hard to save and find forever homes for as many dogs as they possibly can. The facility has all the amenities that these dogs need for their mental and physical well-being. It is kept extremely clean. Just when you think the SAP volunteers have reached their limit, they dig in their heels and work even harder. These are the kind of guardian angels that homeless pups everywhere so desperately need. Monroe County, Georgia, is very lucky to have Save A Pet working hard for the community and unwanted dogs.
Boy Scout Troop 101 of Forsyth, GA has volunteered time and assistance to Save A Pet in Forsyth, GA. This organization was chosen by the boys as part of earning the Citizenship in the Community merit badge. The Save A Pet staff have been a joy to work with and obviously care deeply about animals in unfortunate circumstances. The boys are working on building a walking trail for the dogs and walk/play with the dogs. The boys and dogs get alot of enjoyment through this organization.

Save a pet was more than helpful in the process of adopting my precious baby Jilly!! I went to pet smart and that is where I met Pat one of the owners and Jilly, she was so sweet and I could tell Pat did a wonderful job of taking care of her! Pat and her partner came and did a home inspection to make sure my house would be a safe and healthy environment for Jilly after they reviewed my application. I would recommend that anybody looking to give a pet a home go through Save a Pet! I can't thank them enough for the wonderful home the gave Jilly until she found her forever home!
Save a Pet in Forsyth GA. Is one of the most dedicated organizations I know of - Pat Corley and her team tirelessly work to find homes for neglected dogs in the area. The volunteers spend many hours helping run the shelter, sponsor yearly events to earn money plus contribute time and funds of their own to ensure positive outcomes for animals in need. Save a Pet in Forsyth, GA. Is well run and worthy of your consideration for contributions.

As a resident of Monroe County and supporter (both financially and as a volunteer) of Save A Pet for many years, I recently took the director up on her invitation for a guided tour through the new dog rescue facility. It far exceeds any expectations I had for it. It is clean, functionally well planned and appointed, and a huge credit to those who have worked so hard to build and pay for it. This kennel will make it possible for SAP to save, house, help rehabilitate and adopt out many, many more dogs for years to come. Monroe County should be very proud and supportive of this group and its work!

We just visited the new facility and we were thrilled to see a beautiful, well kept, clean home for dogs waiting to be rescued. It is obvious that the crew of volunteers take pride in providing these dogs with comfortable and clean surroundings. I am sure the volunteers spend countless hours readying these dogs for their forever homes. I am also quite sure that they would love to have more volunteers and of course , more donations. Please keep this facility in mind when you are thinking about a worthwhile cause. The purpose of our visit was to donate collections my daughter received in lieu of birthday presents.

Save A Pet, Inc in Forsythe Georgia is an organization that really cares about the animals that it pulls and takes the extra time to ensure that the pet is a good fit for the family that wants to adopt it. My yellow lab that I got from them has been a wonderful addition to our family. When I adopted him a Save A Pet volunteer brought him to my house and made sure that my existing animals would accept him and that the environment was a safe an suitable one for him. When I am ready to adopt again I will certainly look at this organization for my next furbaby.

SAP really cares about the well being of the pets they adopted out. They always make sure they go to a loving home. Back in 2002 I was a single parent living in an apartment on a very limited budget. There was a cat that had 2 liters of kittens in a very short time frame. Fortunately all the kittens found homes. I couldn't bare to see this stray cat have more kittens but I could not afford to have her spayed. I called Save A Pet and they stepped up and paid for the spaying. Such a great organization!!
SAP is a wonderful group with a big heart for animals. The volunteers at this organization really go the extra mile for their animals and ensure that all dogs are healthy and all go to a good home. In a community underserved by animal rescues it is amazing that SAP can do so much with so little. Hopefully we can adopt another one in the near future.

Save A Pet is an organization that is dedicated to saving dogs by pulling at risk dogs from local animal control, helping educate the public about appropriate care of their dogs, and helping with spay/neuter efforts in the community. I highly recommend them if you want to add a new 4 legged member to your family.

Save A Pet is an organization that is dedicated to saving dogs by working with the local Monroe County Animal Control. They also partner with the Atlanta Humane Society. They have been able to save many stray puppies by giving them medical treatments in preparation to transport them to the Atlanta Humane Society for adoptions. They offer community assistance to help with cost of spay and neuter to families that can't afford it, in turn, helps with over population. Save A Pet volunteers have worked diligently for the past several years to help build the first climate control shelter in the middle Georgia area. The shelter is near completion and more dogs will be saved due everyone's hard work. I have worked as a volunteer for the past four years and see the hard work and dedication that goes into making a rescue organization successful. Save A Pet President, Pat Corley, has dedicated her life since 1998 to see that Save A Pet, Inc is a five Star Rescue!! I'm glad to be a part of the SAP Team.

I have worked with the Save A Pet, Inc dog rescue for over three years and it is so rewarding knowing that so many dogs are saved through this rescue. Save A Pet, Inc is over half way with construction of a new shelter that will be heated and cooled and space to save more dogs pulled from the local Monroe County Animal Control shelter. We are deligently working to raise the dollars to complete this new shelter which comes from donations of animal lovers and businesses. It takes a village to run a shelter and I commend Mrs. Patricia Corley, President of Save A Pet, Inc, for working so hard since 1998 for this only no-kill rescue in our county.
My thanks go out to Save A Pet for all their hard work and love of animals. For the last few years my neighbor's dog has been coming to my house and hanging out with my dogs, I guess he enjoyed the company. We named him Brutus even though his owners called him Rusty. He is one of the sweetest, funniest looking dogs I had ever met. He had been rescued by my neighbors after a tornado a few years ago. Brutus had free run of the neighborhood, never been penned or leash trained, but he did catch onto a few commands my daughter taught him. A couple months ago he showed up on my doorstep and had been brutally attacked, it was a wonder he was still alive. I called his owners and they wanted nothing to do with him. So, I called Save a Pet and got them involved. I took Brutus to the Vet and got his wounds taken care of. He was able to come back home with me the following week . I fostered him until Ms. Pat could take him to Save A Pet. They worked with him and taught him to walk on a leash and other commands. They ended up finding him his forever home. i am truly thankful to Save A Pet for all their hard work and money put out to rescue Brutus. I pray he has finally found the love of family that he so desperately deserves. None of this would have been possible if not for Save A Pet-- thank you so much.
Save a pet helped me foster two dogs that I found last year. They helped me with everything from paying for shots, food and getting them fixed. They took the time to make sure they found good homes. They are a top notched nonprofit shelter and Really love animals and want to see them off the streets and in a loving home.
An incredible organization dedicated to saving the lives of so many animals. Unlike other non-profits they offer complete transparency, so I can rest assured that my donation is always being used for it's intended purpose, fostering animals. Receiving their newsletter and reading the results that they work so hard to achieve, is truly heartwarming. Save a Pet is committed to their objectives, so I am committed to Save a Pet!
I have been thoroughly impressed with this organization and the people involved with the work they do. There is a core group of individuals that have worked for years to build this rescue to the wonderful place it is today. They are professional, dedicated, and caring not only about the animals, but each other as well. The animals are very lucky to be rescued by Save A Pet. They get care and love that far exceeds expectations.
Pat at the Save A Pet in Forsyth has been sharing stories of their dog adoptions and the building of their gorgeous new shelter. It has been such a positive journey listening to her good news. It was not until I agreed to adopt "Big Guy" on June 29, 2015, that I came to fully understand the magical job they do connecting precious dogs with happy new homes. Our new addition fits in wonderfully, gets along well with the dog we already had, and goes everywhere we go as a family: riding in a boat, riding on our four-wheel mule, fishing, playing, working in the yard, sleeping in the middle...! He is happy, we are so blessed, and we cannot offer enough thanks for the excellent job Save A Pet does. God bless all you do for two-and-four-legged creatures.
Save A Pet is an amazing organization. It is run by people that truly care and work hard every day to save dogs and to place them in homes where they will be loved and cared for. Often when donating to non profits the money goes to salaries and other non essential administrative needs, this is not the case with Save A Pet. They are careful, hardworking, honest people that have truly dedicated themselves to selflessly doing good!
I adopted a dog from a local Humane Society and did not know at the time that my new dog was pregnant. After having her puppies and being turned down for assistance in placing the puppies by the shelter she was adopted from, Save A Pet was a tremendous help in adopting them out to good homes. I can't say enough of how helpful and caring they were in placing these pups with loving homes.
The volunteers who work for Save a Pet are dedicated, selfless individuals. When we adopted Luke 11 years ago we were impressed with the care and attention provided to the dogs. Luke has been a wonderful companion. We believe that the care afforded him at Save a Pet accounts for his calm temperament with people and other dogs (cats, not so much!!). We will not hesitate to adopt from Save a Pet in the future.
My husband and I have volunteered off and on with Save A Pet for over a decade. I can't say enough about their dedication to trying to help save animals in the area. All the folks we have met that are involved with the group are totally devoted to the welfare of the animals. I would highly recommend adopting from them, volunteering for them, donating to their cause, etc.
Save A Pet has been a part of my life since 2007. Our group is not only an organization but a family composed of caring, giving members with the most integral part being our dogs. Save A Pet is in the process of building a state of the art shelter in Monroe County, Georgia which will provide a wonderful temporary home for our dogs as they await a new forever home. It is an honor to be a volunteer for Save A Pet.
Save A Pet, Inc is an excellent rescue organization to adopt from. They make sure the dogs are in good health when ready for adoption. I knew when I saw a young dog at their Pet Smart Adoption Day that he should be part of our family. The adoption went smoothly and after this wonderful experience we wanted another dog so Joby would have a buddy to play with. We visited the shelter again and found the perfect little guy to adopt, and Joby and Jax have been happy every since. I recommend Save A Pet, Inc to anyone who wants to adopt a dog.
I began volunteering with Save A Pet in 2014. Everyone associated with this organization, whether they are a Board Member or volunteer, is truly interested in caring for and finding homes for displaced dogs. Sleeves are rolled up, and the "whatever it takes" motto is put into action on a daily basis. There is always room for one more at SAP. Every one tries to ensure that donations ( $$$ and products) are used/spent prudently to ensure that nothing is wasted. This is an ethical nonprofit, and that's what I like most about this group.

Being located in a small community, it is easy to see the organizations that are "performers" and passionate about their cause. Save A Pet, Inc., volunteers and staff work tirelessly in their efforts to rescue dogs, place them for adoption, educate/create awareness with the public on the need to be responsible pet owners, not neglectful owners. Their energy is infectious, their love for the animals is genuine, and their never give up attitude helps them perservere through both good and hard times.
I have been a volunteer with Save-A-Pet almost since it was founded. At first I just fostered dogs many of those I wound up adopting. I currently have one (Ceasar) I adopted after fostering him and his siblings as puppies 8 years ago. I am also fostering (Spencer) who I have had for approx. 9 months. In the last 2 years I have become more active with Save-A-Pet. I volunteer at fund raisers and work at least one day a week at the flea market. This organization is the most professionally run non profit I have ever seen. The volunteers and board members are the most dedicated people I know. Pat Corley amazes me with her dedication to this organization. Her love of dogs is beyond words. She works everyday from sunrise to sunset and sometimes more to save these dogs from euthanasia. She has done so much to educate the youth and general population of this county as to the importance of spay and neutering for pets. Being the counties only no kill shelter, Save-A-Pet has made a major impact on saving hundreds of dogs from sure death. They make sure every dog that is adopted goes to a good home because of their strictly enforced rules. If any non profit deserves recognition Save -A-Pet does. I am proud to be associated with them and will be with them for years to come.
Save A Pet is the most humane, caring organization I have seen for animals. I've visited several times to the Monroe County temporary location. It was always clean and dogs well cared for.
When animals are discarded or mistreated and there is a place for them to be loved, it sometimes takes time for the new loving home to be found. Save A Pet is the best place for the waiting time.
My next pet will certainly be adopted one from the Monroe County Save A Pet.
Save A Pet is by far the best dog rescue I have been affliated with. The temporary kennel used to be located near my office and I got to know everyone involved in this great organization and my husband and I began helping out when we could. The dog pens were always kept clean and the dogs were happy and loved as they waited for a forever home. Having this kind and dedicated staff/volunteers makes a difference one dog at a time!
I am a proud Volunteer for Save A Pet Inc. It is a well run organization and is transparent in all its dealings . This inspires loyalty and devotion form the Community it serves. My hope is that it will continue to save and protect as many animals as possible.
We proudly support Save a Pet, a non-profit organization that cares for neglected, unwanted, or abandoned dogs until they can be placed in a loving home. Every donation Save a Pet receives helps provide shelter, food, medication, and veterinary care that we provide.
They take in all kinds of dogs in need, no discrimination. They work well the whole community and are the only no kill shelter Monroe County has. Without them thousands of dogs would loose their lives and thousands of families would not be able to experience the love that their pet now gives them.
I adopted Alex, a pound dog from Save A Pet Inc. years ago. The volunteers are loving, diligent, and careful about who they let adopt animals. The day I adopted him, one of their volunteers drove Alex to my house to check that I had a fenced yard. Had my yard NOT been fenced, he would not have turned Alex over to me. Ever since they saved my pooch from death in the pound, I have donated a lot of money to Save A Pet, knowing that they will use the funds carefully.
I have been interested in the Save A Pet program since its beginning in 1998 when a vision was put into action. Dedicated volunteers work tirelessly for the benefit of the many unwanted and abused dogs, young and old, in our county. Numerous people have been a supporter of the many fund raisers and kennel care for as many dogs that could be handled…up to 65 I believe was the most at a time. I personally contacted SAP to adopt in 2008 a well-cared-for 6-year old blue healer named Ellie Mae to be a companion for our 9-year old Shepard-mixed dog named CAS. They were best of friends and a delight to watch until the natural death of CAS in late 2013. When we again contacted SAP for a new elderly companion for Ellie Mae, we saw the aging 150-pound lab named River Forest and fostered him until he died just recently. Our experience with SAP has been so positive and rewarding that we are currently fostering a dachshund-mixed dog named Annie and plan to adopt her soon. Our county is overrun with dogs that are “dumped” or running loose begging for a home and love. Before SAP the only option for a majority of these animals was the county animal control with the end result of being euthanized. Thank you SAP for stepping in “behalf of all the strays.”
Now with SAP in place many of these dogs are rescued from the animal control plus from the streets and county roads. They are treated with love, neutered/spayed, given medical treatment, some training and a place to stay while awaiting foster care and/or adoption.
Most importantly SAP is purchasing property and in the process of building a new building to house Monroe County stray dogs. Funds are needed to complete this project. Volunteers and donations are needed and welcomed. Thank you again SAVE A PET for meeting a need to care for one of God's little creatures.

Not knowing which box to click, Volunteer or Client Served as I am both, I chose Client Served. I have volunteered by training some of the great dogs at Save A Pet to walk calmly on a leash. But I also have been a Client Served as I adopted one of those great dogs, Karo.
The dedication of Save A Pet's founder, Pat Corley, is evident whether she is raising awareness of the plight of homeless pets, the need for spaying or neutering pets or doing fundraising for the much needed new shelter currently under construction. Being the county's only no kill shelter, this organization has a tremendous presence in the local community. The dedication of the Board, the involvement of numerous volunteers & the attitude of doing what needs to be done to help these caring dogs find their forever homes is what makes Save A Pet earn the 5 star rating.
My husband and I have been involved with Save A Pet from its beginning. This organization has cared for and found homes for many, many homeless pets in Monroe County. The hard work and dedication of their President Pat Corley and many others far exceeds what most people are willing and capable of doing. God has a special place reserved for them in Heaven.
Save A Pet, Inc., since 1998, has not only saved many lives through its dedication to help animals in need, but has spent time educating the public about how to prevent animals from suffering and becoming homeless.
Save A Pet is made up of wonderful volunteers that follow strict principles and guidelines developed by its board (seven members with various backgrounds and multiple years of business experience).
Volunteers and friends are excitedly anticipating the completion of its permanent shelter on the ten acres recently purchased by the organization. I am proud to be a part of such a committed and dedicated family known as Save A Pet.

This group is working hard to fill a desperate unmet need in our county--the creation of a no-kill animal shelter. Great vision, hard work, compassion for and commitment to animals.

My husband and I recently adopted a jack russell terrier mix form Save A Pet. We visited the shelter and were very impressed with the care and attention the dogs receive. All of the volunteers who helped us with the adoption process were professional and courteous. Our little dog was very well cared for while he was at the Save a pet shelter, and the organization is well run and well managed. It is obvious that the volunteers really care about saving the lives of animals. We really appreciate all they do to help save animals lives.
I have had the pleasure of working closely with Save-A-Pet for the past 5 years, and feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity. They are passionately dedicated to giving as many dogs as possible the healthiest, happiest, and safest life possible. By doing this well, Save-A-Pet offers an invaluable service to our community. Many thanks to Save-A-Pet!
I adopted my dog, Brody, from Save A Pet, Inc in May. The staff was so loving and warm and obviously very dedicated and concerned with the animals they shelter. The facility the animals stay at is large and has such a beautiful field for running and playing in that I almost felt bad for taking Brody away! The environment is one based on love and respect between animals and humans. I would highly recommend Save A Pet, Inc and I do so every time a friend mentions an interest in adopting a dog.

As a former volunteer (three years) for Save A Pet, Inc. in Monroe County, GA, I can say that this rescue group is a FANTASTIC no-kill shelter that cares immensely for the animals in its care. Pat and the rest of the organization work tirelessly...and I do mean tirelessly... to provide the utmost in care for the dogs. SAP is dedicated to providing homeless dogs a warm, safe, healthy, and yes, even fun (!) place to rest their weary heads until they are adopted. The dogs always come first! I am very proud to say that I have worked for Save A Pet in Monroe County and would still be doing so if I didn't have to return to work. I highly recommend adopting your next pet from Save A Pet, Inc., in Bolingbroke, GA.
My husband & I have been involved as volunteers in fostering dogs for many years working with rescue groups in Kentucky and now Georgia. We have been very impressed with the dedication of Pat Sapp's organization-Save A Pet, Inc. in Bolingbroke, GA. Mrs. Sapp and her volunteers are very devoted to their work & we had a first-hand look recently when we couldn't find the home of a little stray. Mrs. Sapp was very accommodating in accepting this little dog. When I delivered her, I was amazed to find a foster home that had a couple other little dogs just like her - each with their own kennel, toys and, importantly-their own space! This story also soon had a very happy ending when Save A Pet, Inc. found our little stray a wonderful home with a vet tech here in Macon. Save A Pet, Inc. is truly one of the great non-profits in our area and hope it will receive this distinguished award.
I used to do some volunteer at SAP, Inc. I haven't recently due to some health issues but I really enjoyed being around the dogs/other volunteers there. I can honestly say that SAP, Inc in Bolingbroke, Ga is the best rescue place I have EVER seen. Those dogs are so well cared for and loved while they are in between homes that if I ever had to give up my dogs (and I would literally have to die first) I would have NO problem with them being placed in SAPs care until they could find other homes. The folks that run SAP and the volunteers work really, really hard and put in just incredible amounts of time. They need and deserve all the help they can get.... I truly believe they are a fine, fine organization and I hope to be able to come back and physically help again one day. (A. Stephens)
I have worked with Save A Pet for over a year now and can honestly say there is nothing like the joy you get when you find a forever home for these dogs. Not only is Save a Pet a great place to volunteer, but the people there work tirelessly and passionatly several times a month to raise money in order to further help these pets and get a new shelter. They also take great care in trying to make sure the new home benefits the dog as well as the new family. I will continue to volunteer with Save A Pet for as long as I can.
There are many good people in the middle Georgia who are passionate about helping our homeless animal population. Save A Pet in Monroe County is absolutely one of the most upstanding nonprofit organizations that I have ever dealt with. This organization is operated as a business; they have a very stable board and group of volunteers and take great care in spending the charitable donations and grant monies responsibly. Their newsletter contains a financial breakdown of every penny they spend. They are not only involve in finding homeless animals "forever homes", they also work to educate the public on responsible animal ownership. Their organization is professional, passionate, solid and and resilient to any obstacles they may face.
For many years rural Monroe County did not have a shelter...they had a few pens outside. SAP was the only hope for the lost, discarded, homeless pets that were strays though no fault of their own. SAP worked side-by-side with the Sheriff's office to pick up the strays. Then they had to find a way to fund the housing, feeding, vetting, and sheltering of as many adoptable dogs as possible. They worked tirelessly on any and all kinds of fund-raisers. They met regularly and formed committees to come up with ideas, apply for grants, etc. The list goes on and on. I volunteered with them some years back and we all drove 50+ miles on Saturdays to take dogs to another county where they had a better chance of being adopted. I had to stop that volunteering due to health reasons so now I just help with donations. They desperately needed and still need a new reliable van to transport the dogs in. They are in the process of fundraising to build a building to house the dogs and need financial support in this endeavor. I have great admiration for the founders of this organization for their undying efforts, persistence and dedication to the dogs they save. They are a great group of volunteers and deserve all the help they can get!
This organization works tirelessly in our community and beyond for the health and lives of pets and putting them with adoptive forever families. The are supported solely by volunteers and charitable giving.
No one puts more caring, love and time in to help homeless dogs than Save a Pet. They are always out saving dogs from different shelters that are a high kill shelter, Save A Pet is a no kill shelter. Thank God for them! There have many dogs that have found their "furever' homes because of them!
I've worked with Save a Pet, Inc for 5 years and I've never met a bunch of more dedicated, friendly, organized, and professional group of people. Everyone works toward the mission and goals of the organization of saving dogs in middle Georgia. The president and founder Pat Corely puts her all into this group. I am a proud supporter of Save a Pet!

This organization works tirelessly to help the community in many more ways than saving the lives of the dogs that they rescue. We are blessed to have all the volunteers in our midst.
As a part time volunteer with this Bolingbroke organization, I see first hand the dedication that Pat Corley, Lucia Carr, Wendy King, Rosie Flanigan and all the others put in for the care of these pets. They do it all. They care for them, love them, find homes for them and even take them back if things don't work out between the pet and the adoptive family. The organization as a whole, deserves so much more community appreciation and recognition for a job well done.
I began my relationship with SAP about 7 years ago. I have always been an animal lover and believed in adopting from a local shelter. I fostered several dogs for SAP and was an active volunteer for several years until my two daughters grew out of the baby carrier and began taking up my time on the weekdays and weekends. My priorites had to stay with my family but SAP has and always will hold a very special place in my heart. The people who are the heart and soul of SAP operations work harder than anyone I know. They genuinely have the hardest and most rewarding jobs when that dog gets adopted. I know their business and served as a board member for a short while as well. Their focus is on saving the animals while improving community awareness of the special tasks involved with good dog ownership. I donate to them as possible and will always hold Pat Corley and her team at the top for their dedication to the animals, their hard work, and for bringing continuous volunteers into the organization.
I have known about Save A Pet for several years now. I have worked with them in the past and I have receommeded family members to them to adopt their new family members. This organization is truly dedicated to serving these homeless animals. They do everything to make sure the pets are healthy when they are adopted to their forever home and they do everything possible to ensure the pets are going to a good and safe new home. The volunteers are remarkable and the time and effort that is dedicated by them is truly beyond comparison. If anyone is looking for a pet, I would highly recommend Save A Pet, Inc.
Since I couldn't mark but one "role" I chose "client served". I first learned of this great organization by word of mouth and decided to volunteer by walking dogs. This evolved into training the dogs to walk calmly on leash. Little did I know that the first girl I trained would be the one that would earn me the "client served" designation. This shelter strives to match their dogs to owners cutting down on repeat adoptions which can only improve the animal's self esteem. You don't want a high energy dog adopted to a low energy family. I've seen dogs come in that no one would look at that once they've worked with them have gone on to find loving forever homes. Many lives have been saved that otherwise would not had this organization not have been formed. I will always look to this group when I'm ready to adopt again!
Monroe County, Georgia, has a huge problem with homeless dogs. Every week dogs are put down by the local county animal shelter for lack of a home. Save A Pet is the only rescue in the entire county. Since it is a non-profit run by volunteers and only a few people who actually take care of the dogs at the shelter are paid employees, all the fund-raising profits go directly to the care of the dogs. Every dog that is rescued is sent to a local veterinarian to be microchipped, sterilized, given heart worm, flea, rabies and parvo medication. The dogs are extremely well cared for and loved until a good home can be found for them and the volunteers are very careful about finding the right people to adopt each dog. Thousands of dogs have been saved by Save A Pet. It is an extremely worthwhile and necessary organization.
In 1998, in a small rural community of Forsyth, Ga., Patricia Corley, a life long resident, decided that saving the lives of innocent and homeless dogs was more important to her than her position as a lawyer. She formed Save a Pet, Inc, a 501 C3 non-profit organization. She has dedicated her life to the care and well being of these abandoned and homeless pets. By doing this, she has made a huge impact on her county and the lives of the people in Forsyth. She has tirelessly participated in the education of the youth in her county as well as others regarding pet care , pet health, and important pet issues such as spay and neutering. she has helped pet owners do the right thing for their pets regarding their health and care. She has worked with the community leaders to help solve animal abuse problems. She has worked to unchain animals who face a life of loneliness and boredom. She has worked to provide food for animals owned by people who have com on hard luck and cannot afford a bag of dog food. Mrs. Corley has organized fund raisers to keep Save a Pet going and has expanded it now to the home of approximately 70 dogs. They are all on heartworm and flea meds, all dogs are current on shots. All dogs are spayed and neutered and micro shipped. They receive first class vet care from The Caldwell Vet Hospital in Forsyth, Ga. Every animal is fed a high quality food and fresh water everyday. We have a rule at the kennel that every dog deserves a day to play outside in a fenced in area instead of leaving them couped up every day in a stall. Our dogs are not in a regular "stall" We occupy a former horse barn, so all dogs have a huge area and many have canine playmates in their spaces. We also have many dogs that are being fostered by volunteers rather than have them face placement in a high-kill shelter. This is a first class organization. It is run in a legal and honorable fashion. There are no compromises on anything. It is a clean, safe, friendly shelter. Mrs. Corley herself is one of the most honest and hardworking people I know. She follows the law to the letter .My personal association with her over a 25-30 year period has been a rewarding and satisfying one. Being involved as a volunteer to help raise funds and to adopt dogs has been an exceptional experience for me and my husband. Not one thought here is an exaggeration, but the total truth. I know that is hard to believe, but it is true.
