Satchel’s has long held a favorite place in my heart. The individuals who work and volunteer there have a never-ending, life-long commitment to those four legged furbabies who might not have a chance thru their love, compassion, hard work. They don’t settle and are constantly striving to do more, improve, create better opportunities for the dogs, cats, etc in their care. . After I had lost one of mine I reached out to Satchel’s to find a new family member who needed some extra care. They immediately helped me thru the process, finding my Maggie (then Millie) and did follow-ups to ensure everything was going along great! They treat every one of animals in their care as though they truly belong to them, one of their own. Because they are. Five stars are not enough for Satchel’s❣️✨

They are very active in getting their pets out for meet and greets. They are active in Facebook and are very positive with their posts which i believe is much better than sad animal stories. They place their animals in very nice homes. They are a great organization.

We have adopted from Satchel’s and volunteered as well and the staff and fellow volunteers are always so kind and supportive. Satchel’s truly cares about their animals and provide a loving and caring shelter for animals in their care while doing their best to find a loving home for cats and dogs.

I have been involved with Satchel's Last Resort even before it came to be, as my boyfriend and I were good friends with the founders. Throughout the years I have worked there, volunteered and fostered dogs, as well as supported their fundraisers. I cant think of a local rescue more worthy of support than Satchel's and I am very proud to be affiliated with them. Not only do they care for many animals no other rescue will take, but they also have amazing programs (Woofpack, Muzzle Training, to name a couple) helping not only the animals there but also helping members of the community keep their animals instead of having to surrender them. There are so many ways you can help this amazing organization. Volunteer, foster, donate, show your support at fun benefits, to name a few. As a volunteer you can also take home dogs for sleepovers, which I do. Miss Crystal gets a respite weekly at our house and it helps her cope. Seeing her relax is absolutely priceless. I have, and I always will, recommend Satchel's to anyone wanting to support an animal rescue.

I've supported Satchel's Last Resort for numerous years and have watched this rescue only get better & better. The care that they give all of the animals is excellent. Every animal is treated as if it is one of their own. The Staff & the Volunteers go above and beyond to place the animals in good homes. They work tirelessly to make improvements that will enrich the lives of the animals in their charge. I have nothing but great experiences with Satchel's Last Resort!

Satchel’s is a top-notch, caring, and loving no-kill animal sanctuary. We are pro-rescue/adopt-don’t-shop folks. The dogs and cats in their care receive the utmost love, CARE and attention while awaiting their furever homes. If a dog or cat is deemed un-adoptable due to severe previous traumas, this group ENSURES that special soul will live his/her life out in full as a permanent shelter resident. We first learned of Satchels in 2015, while looking online for local no kill shelters. We had just put down our nearly 16 year old hound. We fell in love with a longtime resident of the shelter (nearly 7 years), named Buckeye. He was a special needs dog. We adopted him and he became our beautiful friend and family member until he was days away from being 15 years old this past June, when we had to help him cross the bridge. A few weeks later, we returned to this outstanding shelter, and ended up taking a chance on a silver lab named Stormie. Well, it’s another perfect match. Stormie is in his forever home with us, and is a beautiful, energetic, young guy, who still has quite a bit of puppy in him. The support we receive from them is incredible. Follow up emails, phone calls, home visits, General questions, assistance with training, if you need them for ANYTHING they are there!! And if for some reason you do decide to adopt from Satchels, and it becomes apparent that it is not the “perfect match” they will take that animal back with no questions asked. They do a thorough vetting of each person who wants to adopt, including more than one visit to the shelter, as well as home visits.
Thank you Satchels, for filling our home and hearts with pure love since 2015.

Satchels truly puts the dogs & cats first enriching their lives as well as premier medical care, an environment m which they get noticed in some way every day as individuals. Our staff really cares about our four pawed family, it’s not just a job to them but their mission. Satchels implements new programs in training & enrichment on a consistent basis… Satchels walks the walk nor just talks the talk…it’s the real deal!

Satchels is truly an amazing organization! The dogs are not only cared for but they are loved. It’s hard at first to see all of these beautiful babies who have been given up for one reason or another but then you realize that they are happy. Of course a forever home would be the best for them but they like their home at Satchels. I’ve never seen kinder volunteers and staff anywhere. What Page has done is an amazing, selfless thing. I fostered a cat at Satchels. At a point he got sick. On a Saterday night Michael Ann took him to the urgent care. He went back to Satchels due to kidney failure. They gave him daily, weekly treatments and medical care, instead of putting him down as suggested. It's true, cats have 9 lives and he is back with me living a good life.

Satchel's is so much more than a rescue. It is a passionate group of people committed to the most difficult of missions- to save those that no one else will save. It has been so amazing to be a part of this group. To learn from them, aspire to be even half as impactful as some of them are. Rescue is painful, it changes you. You can never unsee some of the things you see. But if we don't commit and help, these animals would have such a terrible life- or no life at all. I have learned that a shelter can be a home. It can be full of love, care, joyful moments and new beginnings. The people at Satchel's have shown me the beautiful side of rescue, and that is so powerful. We support each other through the difficult times, and celebrate the joys together. It's a family for all of us. I am so thankful for the mission and existence of this organization and all they do. Here is a photo of me with one of my "specials". A precious moment, thanks to Satchel's!

I volunteer at Satchel's, so I may be a little biased. Recently, I drove my mom's dog from NY to FL to rehome him. Mom is 95 and no longer able to care for him. Rusty is 12.5 but looks and acts much younger. He was posted on Satchel's site as an adoptable dog on Wednesday, had an adoption application in on Thursday, met with the potential adopter at her home on Friday and was officially adopted and arrived at his new home on Saturday. His new home mimics his former home and I'm hoping Rusty will be very happy there and his new mom is happy to have him. Great job, Satchel's!

Was volunteering at Satchels. We lost our dedicated and loyal Sheppard rescue mix about 3 weeks prior. He worked with me for about 10 years giving back to seniors daily. Kris one of the staff members asked me to walk Walter. He told me Walter was not doing so well in a shelter. After all he was 8 years old and had one home prior. We brought WALTER to many events in hopes of finding him a home. He was anxious at times, didn't like to be crated, but we knew the kind soul he was in his eyes. After a few tries at events we knew that we were his family. For the last 4 years, Walter travels with me, enjoys car rides, obtained his Esa and PSA certificate, visits with seniors, loves kids and always up for an adventure. Yes, we adopted a senior guy that no way acts like a senior. Because of Satchels and their mission our hearts are full with such joy from this senior guy. Thank you Satchels!

Someone I knew was diagnosed with brain cancer and declining rapidly and the race was on to find a safe harbor for Nakoma his sweet faithful doggie. . She’s a pit Bull mix so it was not going well . Finally we found a foster willing to take her but that night she ended up in ER. Apparently the house next door was being fumigated and she had chased and eaten a mouse while in the yard . Near death we had no where to turn . Through Satchels we heard about LED Srq who saved Nakoma’s life . But then she had no where to go because she was not getting along with the fosters dogs . Again Satchels’s stepped in and allowed Nakoma to join the pack . All of this allowed a dying man to die with peace knowing his most precious friend is safe and will always be taken care of at Satchels . It’s called Satchels’s last resort because it’s often the last hope for many of the pets that are there . But once there it’s a place of love, hope snd happiness run by superb volunteers and dedicated administrators. . I’m forever grateful to them from the bottom of my heart .

I love dogs (I’m allergic to cats) and wanted to get involved so I looked at different rescues and Satchel’s stood out. It’s an amazing place and the best rescue I’ve ever had the privilege to be involved with. We volunteers can play in the yards with dogs, take them for walks, car rides, on adventures to parks, farmers markets, stores or fairs. We drive dogs to vet appointments, and much more. I think it’s fabulous for the dogs to get out and socialize, have fun and meet people and potential adopters. Satchel’s has wonderful volunteers and an amazing staff of passionate animal lovers. Satchel’s brings in true last resort animals who have nowhere else to go and gives them a place to land. Dogs at Satchel’s are either sanctuary dogs or dogs who will hopefully be adopted into a new home of their own. All the dogs get to live a good life where they are loved and get out every day for walks and play.

I have volunteered for Satchels for many years. Page the owner, the staff, and the volunteers are the most dedicated people I have ever known. They truly demonstrate on a daily basis true unconditional love for all the dogs and cats residing at Satchels. Many dogs and cats get adopted and some do not. Many dogs have suffered extreme abuse and neglect. These dogs live a great life at Satchels. I adopted a beautiful dog from Satchels two and a half years ago. She was a starvation case. She was found tied to a tree with no food for a long period of time. Many predicted she would not make it. Due to the love, and dedication of the staff she is healthy, happy, and loving dog!

This shelter is first class helping these amazing dogs from God that seem to have misplaced lives. I became a volunteer & these babies are very well cared for. Clean, pleasant, organized with scheduled feedings/meds/ walking the dogs/ socialized yard time/wonderful knowledgeable friendly staff/very well organized program. They are my family now. My baby is adopted now to a nice, young couple. Thank you Satchels. You are top notch.

I have been volunteering at Satchel’s Last Resort and Sanctuary for over two years. I am a huge animal lover and had been hesitant to volunteer thinking I would be too emotional or sad. I was so wrong. I am a better dog mom since I started volunteering. I have learned so much from working with the staff and fellow volunteers. On my first day walking dogs, I fell in love with a dog named Azul. After getting to know him, I couldn’t understand why he had not been adopted. So my friend (and fellow volunteer) and I began working with Azul, taking him on adventures and socializing him. I even took him to a basic obedience class where he was both the class clown and the “bestest” boy. When COVID hit I took the leap to see if he would get along with my dogs and now I can hear his soft snoring from the end of the bed as I write this. Satchel’s is an incredible rescue, made up of an amazing staff, great volunteers and wonderful animals waiting for their furever homes.

In 2020, I was volunteering in the cat room at Satchels Last Resort when I saw a particularly scared cat. They named her Holly when she arrived. She was older, scared, and very overweight, but something about her made me think that the right home would bring out the real her. She was brought to Satchels when her mother, to whom she was very attached, died. She was not in great shape...fleas, worms, and bad teeth. Satchels and Beach Vet took care of her for 2.5 years until that fateful day when I saw her. Her real name is Nicki and she is living the best life ever....she is healthy, vaccinated, flealess, and a love bug. She is alive today because of Satchels and we are all better for it.

Satchels has given our dog a second chance at life ❤️ I can’t even begin to express my gratitude. My family was struggling with our ten year old dog Biggie and his medical issues. We were at our lowest point and decided to surrender our beloved Biggie. Jan and the members of Satchels quickly called me and came to a solution. Biggie was in need of an ear hematoma removal of the entire ear and a few masses that were unexplained but growing quickly. Satchels team came together and paid for Biggie’s surgery. This was such a huge relief to my family and Biggie will see many more years in our loving home. I can’t thank Satchels enough this was unexpected and greatly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts ❤️❤️❤️

My daughter, always on the hunt for more dogs, found Satchel’s. She was in love with a boxer they called Allman. We didn’t feel right getting another dog with our own dog getting up there in age and having health issues that needed our attention, but a few months later after our dog passed, we began looking, and to our surprise, Allman was still there! We immediately started messaging them and trying to set up a time to meet him. They were very up front about what they knew about his background, and about how he had been somewhat difficult in introductions. We assured them that our previous boxer was difficult in all the same ways, and showed we were not afraid to not only meet him, but give him a forever home and work with him to try to overcome some of those issues. We’ve had him now for 9 months, and he is the sweetest, cuddliest boy, who really is showing so much improvement and is trying his hardest to be a good boy around other dogs and people. We cannot imagine life without him and are forever grateful to Satchel’s for giving him a loving home and second chance at life.

Satchel's Last Resort lives the true spirit of a no-kill animal rescue and serves it with integrity.
They take in animals who everybody else left behind.
The broken ones, the old and frail ones, the difficult and tough ones. The ones who felt through the grid for many reasons. Failed by humans and a society that is not able yet to mend so many human failures or misfortunes.
The animals who are lucky enough to come to the Satchel's family will forever be sure to never be let down again.
Passionate staff and volunteers go the extra mile and always, to make a difference for the animals everyday; to right all the wrongs they had been through, to show them love and give them good care and to make sure they have a great life while with Satchel's -- and beyond!

Wanting to help animals in real need I heard about Satchels Last Resort. Looking into Satchels the thing that struck me was that they are a shelter that will take in dogs and cats that are scheduled to be euthanized, or due to certain situations about to be surrendered to county shelter for whatever the reason. So I volunteered to help thinking "how hard can it be". After the orientation class my position is to take care of the dogs and their kennels. Again, "how hard can it be"? What I didn't expect was to find a group of employees and volunteers working together in unison to pitch in and help these dogs and cats to live as good a life as could possibly be. Satchels has both dogs and cats that have been there for years. These are the dogs and cats that really appreciated our caring and love given to them, and in return they give us their love. All these animals are taken care of regardless of the situation they came from. Time does not matter, they can, as some do, stay there for the rest of their lives knowing they will be fed, kept clean, loved, get walks, play toys and receive medical attention if/when needed. Many get adopted out and get a fresh lease on life. Some don't. It doesn't matter, they are all loved and cared for by the employees, management and volunteers. I volunteer 2 days per week. I've often found myself waiting for those days to "go in" and be part of this wonderful shelter.

I have been involved with Satchel's since 2006. First, as a person in dire need of surrendering my deaf Dalmatian due to a domestic violence situation and then, as a volunteer serving in a multitude of roles through the years. Although surrendering my beloved dog was one of the hardest decisions of my entire life, I had to keep her safe, not only from my abuser, but also from being euthanized for being deaf.
Satchel's came to my rescue and she was provided a full life I could not have given her, even after my lengthy divorce. Most of all, she was loved, given her favorite car rides, provided for and SAFE until she peacefully passed in 2012. For that, I was eternally grateful, so after graduating with Bachelor's in Social Work, BSW, and specializing in nonprofit management and grants, I joined Satchel's becoming a donor and volunteer. I am proud to volunteer on behalf of this great organization and work alongside dedicated and hard working board members, staff and volunteers. The animals are the luckiest however, as they are given a chance at a life that never would been provide to them if it weren't for Satchel's mission.

Satchel’s is the “Best” shelter that I know.
Is a paradise , a piece of heaven on earth for all the lucky dogs and cats that find their way to this place.
Animals are loved, taken care all of their needs. They go above and beyond for any resident.
Is the only shelter that is a true” NO KILl”.
Many are adopted, many stay here until the end. They work hard in finding a perfect home and family for them, if not... they are in the best place that they can be.
I have been a volunteer for 9 yrs and I will not go anywhere else. We are a humble place, with many needs, but what matters is abundant... love and good care.
I love Satchel’s . I dream all the shelters could be like them... no numbers matters, no big propaganda and quotas to fill... just love, sacrifice and commitment to all these innocent souls

I wanted to adopt 2 cats as all of my “family” of 4 rescues had gone to heaven. I went to Satchels where one 7 month old tiger literally jumped onto my shoulder and started purring. He had no intention of leaving, and of course, he now lives at my house along with another Satchels 2 year old. The cats (and dogs) at Satchels receive great care from a small staff and devoted volunteers. They take every animal who needs a home, and they spend a lot of time rehabbing the animals. The dogs get walked and trained. They do a lot with a little
