Mission: The mission of Sarvodaya USA to facilitate integrated community development as advocated by Sarvodaya Movement in Sri Lanka.
Programs: In 2014, sarvodaya u. S. A. Corporation continued to represent and support the sarvodaya movement, a gandhian-style people's movement dedicated to nonviolence and the empowerment of all through shramadana (shared labor). The grants supported emergency relief efforts, conflict resolution, and peace building activities, as well as specific housing projects and welfare centers such as day care centers, nutritional centers, orphanages, vocational training centers, homes for the elders, homes for teenage mothers and their babies, and a school for the deaf.
sarvodaya u. S. A. Corporation also supported the work of teach for nepal (tfn), an independent initiative of sarvodaya shramadana nepal. Tfn is the organizational leader of a movement to improve primary and secondary education in nepal and has placed tfn teaching fellows in 28 schools in two districts from 2013-2014.
because the principles promoted by the sarvodaya shramadana movement can be practiced anywhere in the world, sarvodaya u. S. A. Corporation's united states outreach program worked to educate others and raise awareness through speaking tours, books, and curriculum and other products available to schools, universities, community service groups, religious congregations, and the public at large.
