As a board member, I have the privilege of witnessing the unwavering dedication and passion that drives the mission of Sarah Heinz House. The commitment to nurturing and supporting our children is evident in every aspect of the organization. From the enriching summer camps to the comprehensive swimming programs and a myriad of other activities, Sarah Heinz House offers a diverse range of experiences that engage and inspire all children.

The House is more than just a place; it is a welcoming community where children are encouraged to grow, learn, and thrive. Our family have been members at Sarah Heinz for 15 years. For the most part it has been great. However, the last few years, the leadership has diminished. The new Steam Director does not put kids first. This was evident by the treatment the Worlds Qualifying robotics team received this last year. Because of the refusal to compromise, they effectively dismantled robotics team, causing 1/3 of the team to leave, seniors who were recognized as Youth of the year and nominated for the First Robotics Deans list for there passion, contribution and promotion of the team and Heinz.

Despite these accolades and the student driven team having 1 qualifying robot completed, and another robot nearly finished, the new Steam director director demanded changes to the robots that were not necessary. These changes were not necessary for qualification, or safety. These changes required additional late nights to accomplish, and she threaten to withhold competitions if not completed by the first competition, even though the team had a fully qualifying completed robot to compete with. This upset the team and at large meeting with parents and students, Heinz decided mid season to change the student lead team to a student build team. This changed the team where the students had the autonomy to plan, build and make decision on the robot, allowing them to learn from mistakes or celebrate their accomplishments to now being completely dictated by the new Steam Director.

This was not how the team was run for many years, and was not how the team started or was advertised and promoted in this same year at outreach events. Instead of the Heinz motto, Laugh Learn Lead, it became, Be Quiet, Work, Follow. I believe everyone on the team deserves a refund for the change made to team midway through the season.

There are still those at Heinz we respect and appreciate, and wanted to find compromise, but we are deeply disappointed in the treatment my family and many others received and how easily Heinz passed off the accomplished students. I cannot support Heinz House after this. I hope its a better situation for others that stay, but I would be wary of the Steam Director and how she treats the program under her. As it was explained to us by the mentors that know her, she will not except NO for any answer, and will do what it takes to get what she wants, despite how it affects the team. We find that mindset to be very toxic when working with students at a place where you are supposed to foster leaders.

SHH does fantastic work for the community of Pittsburgh, and is a beacon on the North Shore. It is a place of inclusion, and has been a fantastic experience for many children’s lives. The Leadership and staff of this organization are second to none.

My children have been going to the Heinz House Summer and After School programming for years. They are so reliable and their staff is amazing. The kids are happy there - they are able to interact with their peers and get physical activity. They're learning new skills like cross-stitching, cooking, and robotics. They also have both learned to swim there. It is a place where I can confidently leave my children knowing that they will be happy and well cared for. Especially during the pandemic, I am thankful that the Sarah Heinz House has responsible safety policies put in place so that my children are able to gather with other kids their age while not in school. They are a true asset to our community and I am so grateful for their presence.

My children have been going to SHH for summer camp for the last few years, and have really enjoyed the experience, between swimming, making friends, doing robotics. There are plenty of opportunities for enrichment. This year, Heinz House offered more flexible scheduling, which allowed us to participate as full members. It's early yet, but so far, for the few times I've picked them up, I've picked up happy children. They love it. They are being active, making friends, and gaining independence. It is a wonderful place and an asset to our community. Thank you, SHH!!

Sarah Heinz was our home away from home for 17 straight years. The only day we did not attend here was a Sunday. This organization helped me raise my children to be very well rounded great people with very good ethics. They say it takes a village to raise a child. I would like say it took Sarah Heinz to help us to raise great kids that also give back!

My kids attended SHH day camp last year and had an amazing experience. This year as we all know got a little more complicated, yet Sarah Heinz House found a way. I had the honor to give back to my Latino community thru the partnership of the Latin Community Center and The Sarah Heinz House. The impact made in the children’s lives, and in their families was one they’ll carry with them for a lifetime. Sarah Heinz House was a reprieve, giving much needed hope and support for so many during this time. I am extremely grateful for their efforts and their care for the communities and people they serve.

I can speak to the amazing dedication, creativity, & flexibility the staff put in to offering onsite day camp this summer. As a volunteer with the Latin Community Center I saw first hand the impact this camp had on the kids and their families. Daily I was told by the parents how grateful they were at the sacrifices being made to make this happen for their children. Listening to the stories of what the kids did that day was the highlight of mine. Theirs smiles & laughter said it all. There were even tears on the last day with each one of them stating how they wanted to come back next year, and hope they got the opportunity to do so. In such a tough and unconventional time, Sarah Heinz House was a glimmer of hope to so many. What a great organization. Thank you!

I've been a volunteer at Sarah Heinz House (SHH) for almost five years. The people who work here care deeply about the youth they serve. During these uncertain times, SHH has done everything they possibly can to remain open safely and give kids a place to be kids. Every Saturday when I'm on-site, I see the difference it makes for children to connect in person and find friends. Moreover, SHH offers unique opportunities for kids of all ages to learn from some amazing, talented instructors. I highly recommend Media Lab, Robotics, and their other awesome program offerings.

Sarah Heinz House is a fantastic place for children. They work hard to make sure the kids are in a fun and encouraging environment, teach by example of good character, and make the children's safety and wellbeing their highest priority. There staff is friendly and considerate, and treat the children with respect and dignity. They hold children up to high standards which helps them grow, and they regularly ask families to share how they can improve. They are constantly striving to be better than the year before, and as I have seen first hand their success. I have 4 children that have been attending SHH for many years. They are like family and I'm extremely grateful for their service to the community and the children they care for. I highly recommend them!

Sarah Heniz House reached out to me with the possibility of providing a learning hub for students during virtual learning. They came with a plan of how they would be keeping the students safe and distanced, spent considerable time working out the details, and were receptive to feedback. A number of our students were able to attend from 9-2, giving parents and caregivers a vital life line during this time.

Sarah Heinz House has been a part of my life since I can remember. It truely is a "house" for so many youth. I have benefited from SHH as a member, volunteer and parent of a member. I really like seeing the personal involvement of the staff with the members. I can trust any of the staff and volunteers as a mentor for my son. With all that is heard in the news about inappropriate relationships and abusing of children, I am always secure knowing my son is there with great people. I am really happy with the robotics program that is offered there. My son has become very involved in robotics and is planning on a career in that field. The program is well funded and I have not have had to pay nearly any money for supplies or competitions. The most of the mentors are from CMU and really are involved with the kids. Plus the kids do the planning and building of the robots and the adults are there for guidance. It is truely the kids' robot.

When I was asked to serve on the Board of Sarah Heinz House, an organization I did not know, I was not confident that I would be able to commit the appropriate amount of time given other obligations. From my first visit to "The Club", however, I realized that I simply could not say "no" to the request. The "vibe" of SHH is overwhelming - from the energy of the kids to the commitment of the enormous number of volunteers to the integrity and passion of the staff. Once you've been there, you simply want to contribute whatever you can to help such a special place. Of particular note is the staff's focus on continuous improvement and desire to make a great institution even better. Their professionalism surpasses that of most institutions with which I have had experience, from small companies to large corporations.

The Sarah Heinz House provides opportunities and experiences for kids to learn and grow. During the open house last year my family and I met a few students that attended the After-School activities as well as the summer camp. Their testimonials of what the Sarah Heinz House meant to them drove me to get involved. They discussed the fun, educational and amazing programs offered to them after school and the camp in the summer. The facility itself is amazing. I had driven past it multiple times and until the tour I had no idea the size and offerings it has with space, gyms, swimming pools and fitness center. The Sarah Heinz House is one of the best kept secrets in Pittsburgh and I can only hope this testimonial provides some insight for more to help participate in their success.

Several years ago, my colleague and I started raising funds for children from an underprivileged school district in Colliers, WV. It broke my heart to see some of these kids without enough food, with no notebooks or pencils for school. We started a vending service in our office and used the proceeds to purchase clothes, school supplies, snacks, etc. for the kids and have been doing so every year. The feeling of making a difference in their lives is unparalleled. When I heard about the Sarah Heinz House and what they do for children in similar situations, I was immediately drawn to the organization and wanted to play a part in aiding their mission. Once I joined, I was amazed by the intelligence, drive and kindness in each and every one of the children who come through SHH. It's sincerely an incredible organization that I'm more than proud to be a part of. SHH is a vital outlet for so many kids – impacting their lives in the best way so they can achieve everything they dream of.

This place gives every member an opportunity to learn something new, a safe environment to take risks, step out of their comfort zone, step in the spotlight, take that leadership role, and unlock their potential to grow into responsible and mature individuals. There are so many different activities to take advantage of SHH that it is hard to find something that wouldn't catch your interest. From swimming, to dance, to sports, to robotics, to art, to hanging out with friends, to playing games, to media lab, to working on your education, and to positive youth development programs SHH really tries to make sure you can have a taste of it all. I know that for several of my peers, and myself included, Sarah Heinz House quickly become our second home. We were able to create a small family, separate from our ones at home who understood and could relate to how much they loved attending Sarah Heinz House. I would find myself at SHH from right after school at 3:45 until 9 at night, going in and out of programs or trying to catch a few moments to talk to my friends. Sarah Heinz House is primarily responsible for inspiring me to continue to work with children after I graduate. The staff and volunteers have left a memorable impact on me, one that I only hope to have the privilege to make on another person's life. Sarah Heinz House enabled me to figure out who I was, to develop my leadership skills in an area I felt comfortable and has given me opportunities that I would never have been able to take advantage of had I not been a member. This organization is truly one of the most affordable, influential, safe, diverse, and amazing places I think that the northside of Pittsburgh has to offer for children in grades 1-12th. And this review only scratches the surface of the dynamics of what life with a membership at SHH has the potential to do to you.

Sarah Heinz House has touched four generations of my family. From my grandfather who served in WW1 , my mother, myself, my siblings, and to our children.
It has always and still is a huge part of my life, I am proud to carry it forward with a passion to serve the next generation to experience and benefit all the organization has to offer. Where else can a child come 6 days a week and swim, play, laugh, learn, lead and just "have fun".

I have been a part of Sarah Heinz House for over 20 years. I should really say that Sarah Heinz House has been a part of me for over 20 years. As a member, it gave me confidence when I needed it most and allowed me to meet some truly amazing people, many of whom I am still friends with today. As a volunteer of SHH, it allowed me the opportunity to give back to a great organization that offered me so much. I am forever a "Heinz Houser"!

I was a member and volunteer here for many years, and SHH impacted my life positively in many ways. It promotes strong character, good values and allowed me to form many long-lasting relationships. It truly is a wonderful place for youth. In fact, I am honored and proud to share the tradition with my children who participate in the tot programs and plan on enrolling them as members when old enough. It is much more than an after-school program, it is a second home!

I am proud to be associated with this organization for over 30 years. I can honestly say that it has and continues to mold me into the man I am. As a member I gained so much from the programs, friendships and mentors the "House" provide me with. As staff I still continue to benefit from all Sarah Heinz House has to offer. I feel as though I have come full circle... As a child I came and learned from the adults and now as an adult, I come to learn form the kids!

I've recently became involved with Sarah Heinz House Association due to me being the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Pittsburgh Pirates. There are many great things I could say about them, but the one that hits home with me is the environment and opportunities they provide our local youth. They have a great, clean, safe facility and endless programs to support our youth throughout their adolescent years.

Good leaders are trailblazers, making a path for others to follow. Great leaders, however, can inspire the children to reach higher, dream bigger, and achieve greater. Perhaps the most important leadership skill you can develop is the ability to provide inspiration to the children that attend the Sarah Heinz House. If you inspire them to reach for the stars, they just might bring you back the moon. This is what my children where taught from the staff and volunteers here at SHH. I am grateful for the new family we have gotten as a place we can all call home and be inspired by everyday a child opens the door and enters this unique organization. Today I feel my children are always striving to be a role model and are carrying on the values that they learned here at SHH

I recently had the opportunity to take an in-depth tour of the Sarah Heinz House Association as part of an article that I was writing. I was completely blown away by every aspect of it. The staff is tremendously talented and caring, the facilities are absolutely beautiful, the programming is fun, interesting, and educational, and the kids and teens were amazing. I wish I had grown up in the area so that I could've gone there growing up! Instead, I'm looking forward to taking advantage of opportunities to volunteer at this amazing facility.

Heinz House, as members from my era called it. I was an active member there for 10 years and it influenced me tremendously, shaping my values and providing a pathway to developing leadership and collaborative skills that I use on an every day basis today. The program exposed you to many different types of activities - from sports to public speaking to running events and leading a tent-full of campers. The greatest strength of Heinz House is the path the develop for you - as a young member you get introduced to structure while having a ton of fun - both during regular activities and at summer camp. As you continue through the program, you quickly begin to value the concept of service, responsibility and the duty for assuming a leadership role in helping the younger members. This institution carries many multi-generational families - including mine - and the one common trait every member possesses after being a member there is the idea of respect and servitude for "the House".

20+ years ago I was introduced to SHH by my best friend and subsequently became a member and volunteer. Initially I thought SHH was just a place to go however, many of the experiences and opportunities I had while being a member and volunteer have shaped me into the person I am today. Throughout high school SHH became my second home. It truly was and is a great place to learn, grow and build relationships. SHH is a special resource for youth/adolescent development. Programs encouraged us to think, explore, and be responsible, to try new things, to be creative and accepting of others. And….they were fun!

Sarah Heinz House has been a part of life since I was born. My grandfather was a former program director and executive director there for many, many years. My parents met there as members of Sarah Heinz House. I too was a member of Sarah Heinz House, where I took dance classes and attended their summer camp program in Ellwood City. Now all these years later my daughter is in going into her 5th year as a member of Sarah Heinz House and her first year as a junior volunteer. The best thing I can save about Sarah Heinz House is that after all these years, the same core values and rules still exist and are followed to this day. You learn respect from the moment you walk in the door of Sarah Heinz House and are asked to take your hat off. However Sarah Heinz House has not failed to keep up with the times either - now offering programs such as day camp, robotics, media lab and silver sneakers. These are just some of the wonderful addtions made to the Sarah Heinz House over the years. Sarah Heinz House has always been a safe and fun place for school kids of all ages to go. Everyone is made to feel like they are part of one big happy family while they are down there. The staff and volunteers are exceptionally patient, caring and fun. They go out of their way to make every kid feel special and apart of the family. My daughter just loves Sarah Heinz House. She says she feels like she fits in and belongs more there than at her own school. Sarah Heinz House is truly a treasure to be shared by all.

Inn 1991 being between jobs I applied and got hired as a camp counselor at Heinz House Camp. Had the best time of my life. Met great people and great kids! I was invited by Charlie Chmura to come to the club and be a volunteer. 22 years later I am still volunteering and enjoying this boys and girls club. The facility is state of the art, has multiple activities and offer so much opportunity. But the best part of this place is the kids and the volunteers. Many of my best friends have come from meetings them or volunteering with them at Sarah Heinz House. Growing up in south suburbs of Pittsburgh I never really knew what the Northside was. This club and it's people not only welcomed me into their group, I became like one of the family. If you donate to Heinz House know that your investment is reaching lots of kids if you volunteer know that it will become a life of friendship and fulfillment.

Our organization, Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Academy, has worked with the Sarah Heinz House since 2003. Each year we team with SHH to host several robotics competitions. In the fall we team with them to host a middle school tournament called FIRST LEGO League and a high school competition called the VEX Competition. Several teams that have competed in those competitions have qualified to go to the National Championship. Each spring SHH sponsors a "May Madness" robotics competition that is open to both middle and high school age students. The spring tournament draws over 30 teams and several hundred kids. They have been an incredible partner and are making a difference in kids lives across the region.

My four children all became members, enjoying all the programs and activities offered. The Staff and Volunteers who provided leadership and friendship throughout the years can never be repaid for the work they do.

These days, I am watching my granddaughter enjoy all the great benefits that Heinz House has to offer and I still love to participate as a volunteer at Sarah Heinz House. It has truly been an Honor to be part of such a great organization.

Both of my children, 12 and 9, have been members since first grade. They attend Cyber School. What we were seeking was a place where my children can have social interaction with their peers, but what we received was far more. My daughter is now on the swim team; my son is learning to swim and thoroughly enjoying the robotics class. Five days a week they are in a fun safe environment for a minimal cost. I could not be more pleased with the facility, the staff, and especially the swimming coaches.

Sarah Heinz House changed my life for the better in so many ways. I began as a member at the age of 9 and continued on until the age of 18. I had the opportunity to join numerous groups and experience so many opportunities that a city girl like me would never have gotten. I had my first job there at the age of 14 working at the desk and answering phones. I got to play on the traveling basketball team. I got to be a summer camp counselor. Most of all, I got to be me and learned that being me was ok. I was always made to feel like I was important and that I mattered.

At about 4 or 5 years of age, I would go to work with my dad at SHH and count down the days until I could be a member. Being a member of SHH was, by far, the most influential factor in my adolescent and teen years. I would say SHH was like a second home, but in reality, it was probably more like my first home. I saw so many members go from wallflowers to outgoing, well-rounded kids, myself being one of them. I have no idea what or whom I would be today if it weren't for my involvement in gymnastics and the entire SHH program. The friends I made at SHH were some of the best friends I have ever had and I still look back on my times with them with extreme fondness. Because of the staff and volunteers at SHH, I was able to understand the importance of having a team mentality while also being comfortable enough to stand out. I learned the impact one's character and integrity has on who they become later in life, which I know now, is an incredibly valuable lesson to learn at a young age. It's rare to have such a complete sense of belonging, especially as a child and a teenager, and I have nothing but gratitude for SHH.

From the early age of seven, I had the opportunity to be a member of Sarah Heinz House. I am who I am today because of the varied experiences I gained during my time as a member. Through my eleven career at Sarah Heinz House, I was able to grow as a student, leader, and person. SHH prides itself on developing the character of each and every member. My first volunteer experience was at the age of eight. Since I was a swim team member, I was able to volunteer my time to help other members learn how to swim. Volunteerism and philanthropy is still a huge part of my life due to my early foundation. During my high school years, I was selected to serve on the regional and national steering committees for the Keystone Conferences. This started my experiences with public speaking and honed my leadership skills. Due to my strong leadership abilities, I was able to serve as president in many organizations and also now lead an elementary school. Sarah Heinz House is a special place for young children. Of all the amazing and meaningful activities/clubs/etc that SHH has to offer, the most special part of Heinz is the people that make up the organization. The full-time and part-time staff members and volunteers give and given and give their time, money, and support to help each member realize his/her potential. The staff cares and loves each member unconditionally. As I said, I am who I am because of Sarah Heinz House, a place I considered my home for many years.

My four children attended Sarah Heinz House from the time they were able to join. Specifically, my oldest son, who is now in his 2nd year at a very prestigious university, has benefited from being a member at Sarah Heinz House. It was his second home where he felt comfortable being himself. In school, he was a very introverted person who was teased for being a "nerd". His social circle was small. He did not feel like he could "let his hair down" so to speak. At Heinz House, he was a totally different person. He used to say that he didn’t have to try to be cool at Heinz House, he could just be himself. It took him several years of being "just a member" to come out of his shell. But because he had to attend Heinz twice a week for membership, then also for all of his “extra” activities, he looked forward to being there almost every day of the week and making a name for himself in a very quiet way. He led by example. He led through encouragement from the staff. He led because it was his home away from home. The motto "Success is never final, Failure is never fatal, it's Courage that counts" made such an impression on him and has helped propel him to be successful in his life! This comfort allowed him to gain the confidence to step up in school socially. He started a Comic Book Club at his high school which had a premise of service...being a hero in everyday life. He participated in the musicals at Heinz House where he had the courage to be on stage to perform. He played on various sports teams and attended the summer resident camp and robotics camp. He enjoyed intense participation in the teen leadership programs, like the Keystone Club and Lead Team. Service learning was a powerful component of his experience, and volunteering became a high priority for him. His holistic experience developed and diversified him as a person. Heinz House is doing this again for my three other boys. We will not move from Pittsburgh because there are no other boys and girls clubs like Sarah Heinz House. Our family are "Heinzies" all the way! Over the past few years, Heinz House and its youth members have received recognition at the state, regional, and national levels, including Nick Foley, a friend of my sons, who earned the honor of 2012 National Youth of the Year through Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Nick and my sons are just a few of thousands who have benefitted from Sarah Heinz House.

Sarah Heinz House is not just a non-profit organization, or a Boys and Girls Club. It is a home, and with in a home is a family i have had there since i was 6 years old. From the start Heinz was always a place i could go and grow and be accepted for who i was. I was like a little seed put in a pot of dirt with many others who were there with me. From there we started to grow into young role models and strong independent individuals. Everyone grew at a different pace but that was never a problem because the other members, older members and staff were always there to help you. As we got older our leaves started to bloom and we were given opportunities kids cant even dream about. We were able to get a volunteer job whether it was for a gym class, a club program...but in our eyes, it didn't really matter because we just loved to be engaged and get involved with all the members. Soon we started to step out more on our own. We were always unique and different in our own ways, but hitting the teenage years really brought us to our peak. As a 14 year old I was able to get a job as a locker room attendant. Some can complain and cry that it was stupid. But in my eyes no job was stupid and i was thankful for the opportunity to even have a job at 14 and so were many of my other friends. But Heinz was not always about jobs and volunteering, it was about getting involved with activities and making new friends, and that is exactly what i did. At 6 years old i joined the gymnastics program, I was apart of gymnastics for 11 years and spent my childhood growing up with some amazing people. Some went there own way...but for others who have stayed we aren't just friends we are brothers and sisters to each other. I cannot explain to how much the Staff down Heinz truly means to me. In my life they were my gymnastics coach, gym teacher, swim instructor, but most of all my friend and someone i could talk to. Without them or Heinz, i really cant tell you where I'd be in life. I am so grateful that my parents dropped me off at Heinz those 12 years ago. It would have been very unfortunate to have lived my life only for myself and not spreading my horizons and being able to be there for someone and give them hope or a smile for the day at the club. You never truly know whats going on in someones life and thats why you can never just judge from what you see. Everyday when i went down Heinz I strived to be a role model and tried to be the best I could be. But most of all, it always made my day to be someone they looked up to, or was there when they needed help or someone to talk to, but most of all just to see a smile on there face.

When our children first brought home the application for Heinz House our initial thought was, "This is a big time commitment, but let's give it a try." Three years later, I don't know what we would do without this place!!! We are at Heinz House every single night of the week participating in activities such as swim team, robotics, gymnastics, swim lessons, and design factory. The staff is friendly, encouraging, and loving. They take a true interest in our children and our children love the activities and spending time with their peers outside of school. The summer camps are as awesome as the programs that are offered during the school year. If you want to find a facility where your child can try many different activities, this is it! The choices are abundant!

Sarah Heinz House really changes the lives of kids and teens in the Pittsburgh community every single day, and I can say that because I know it changed my life. When I was a young boy I moved to Pittsburgh to be adopted after a tough childhood involving being abandoned by my parents, moving around with several different families, and overall leaving me not knowing what place I had to call home or who to call family. When I first stepped foot into Sarah Heinz House, I found both of those things. For the next 11 years and still to this day, I call Sarah Heinz House my second home, and every single member, volunteer, and staff member is one big family. The people there are incredible; they truly care about everything you do. The programs are amazing in that they set you up for a great future. There are all the fun programs that keep you interested and excited at all ages, but they also teach you so many things in teamwork, the importance of giving back, and teach you how to be a great leader. I know all of these things have had a huge impact on my life because I definitely would not be where I am today without Sarah Heinz House. I would recommend this place to anyone, and I know I will always be a part of this great organization.

Each year, Sarah Heinz House nominates a student to partipate in the Natiuonal Youth of the Year Program. We have consistently been recognized as the leader in space - resulting most recently on the National Youth of the Year (who followed on the heels of recent State and Regional winners). Each year, in connection that program, the Youth of the Year candiates visit with the Board, and share "what Sarah Heinz House" means to them. I was fortunate that my first ever board meeting included these brilliant presentations. As a result, as a Board Member, I am directl connected to how important SHH is to our memebers, and how much our members contribute and deeply care about SHH.

The Sarah Heinze House has a long history of making a difference in the lives of the children of Pittsburgh especially in the Northiside. The motto--laugh,learn, lead--tells the importance of what is offered including an after school program and summer camp. For many needy kids, financially and socially, this is a second home; a place to learn from great teachers and mentors and in turn become leaders. The SHH has over 1000 memebers and serves an additional 2500 kids. The program reguires regular attendance which increases the child's committment. Over 40 % have been members for over 2 years with many remaining in "Club" through high school. Over 90% of those who remain with the program are admitted to college or a trade school. Last year, a student from the SHH, Nick Foley, was awarded the national Youth of the Year by the Boys & Girls Club of America. Supporting this organization helps many kids who need our help the most.

I've served as a volunteer for more than ten years and have seen this organization transform itself into a national model for all Boys and Girls Clubs and after-school programs in general. Within the past few years not only have youth-members received national recognition, but all of the top leadership staff have too. The parents of one of the youths served said it well: "Every dollar donated to Sarah Heinz House is carefully considered and spent well." The diversity of daily after-school programs and youth participants is unparalleled. More than 250 volunteers form the backbone of Sarah Heinz House, many with decades of experience volunteering there. I am very proud to be part of an organization where I take away far more than I could ever give. My one big regret is that I didn't know about Sarah Heinz House when my children were in school; had they been members while growing up, I know they would have had greater skills and confidence as they entered young adulthood.

I have been a Board Member and volunteer at Sarah Heinz House for the past four years. This boys and girls club has helped so many of our youth from grades K-12 which I have been able to personally witness. It provides so many opportunities with it's programs and group activities that many of these kids might not ever have experienced. I have been involved long enough to see many of these young kids transform into responsible young adults with endless opportunities ahead of them. Many of these kids have been recognized with various local, state and national awards that would not have been possible without the help and guidance of Sarah Heinz House and it's caring and dedicated staff. This is an organziation well worth investing in.
