Mission: The mission of Sarah A. Reed Children's Center is to promote the emotional well-being of children and families, helping them to realize their potential and experience success. To achieve this end, our staff use research-based best practice models of treatment and interventions to provide the children we serve and their families with hope for a brighter tomorrow.
Results: Sarah A. Reed Children’s Center improves the quality of life for children with mental health, emotional, social and behavioral health challenges. To effectively accomplish this mission, we provide a wide range of innovative, high quality, and best practice mental health interventions to help children realize their potential and experience success in their lives. Sarah Reed is a multi-service, non-profit agency known and respected in the Erie Community and throughout the Commonwealth for quality clinical services for “at-risk” children and those identified with serious and persistent emotional and behavioral disorders. Our agency serves over 1,700 culturally diverse children annually from over 44 counties across Pennsylvania. Sarah Reed also offers a Doctoral Internship Program in Health Services Psychology that is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association and a Child Psychiatry Fellowship Program in partnership with LECOM Health. We are very proud to announce that Sarah A. Reed Children’s Center has been serving the Erie Community since 1871 and is dedicated to helping and healing children and families that are struggling to find answers and solutions to a wide variety of issues which they face on a daily basis. Sarah A. Reed Children’s Center is fully licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and the Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services as an outpatient psychiatric clinic with a specific focus on providing treatment to children and their families. Sarah Reed is also accredited by the Joint Commission for Accreditation on Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American Psychological Association (APA). Sarah A. Reed Children's Center is also one of the few agencies in Northwestern Pennsylvania that is certified in the Sanctuary model, a nationally recognized practice of trauma-informed care that emphasizes resiliency and recovery of people struggling with emotional and behavioral difficulties and adversities.
